Welcome! Below is a bit of information about Protein Power for those who are unfamiliar with it. We welcome people with questions about the WOE or who are considering the WOE, but not sure, to join in our discussion.
The Protein Power plan was devised by the husband-and-wife team of Dr. Michael Eades and Dr. Mary Dan Eades. They advocate an adequate protein/moderate fat/lower carb regimen in which you first determine your minimum protein requirement. Each day, you strive to eat at least this much protein, and between 30 and 55 grams of ECC (carbs minus fiber) to start. You spread your protein and carbs fairly equally throughout the day to avoid insulin spikes.
Though ketosis is not necessary for weight loss, neither is it discouraged. Some people enjoy the loss of appetite that ketosis brings. Others avoid ketosis and the accompanying loss of appetite because they find they don't get in the required amount of protein, and weight loss slows.
For detailed information on the plan, read the Eades' first two books, "Protein Power" and "Protein Power Lifeplan."
Our daily inspiration:
"Today I will make good choices. I will eat only those foods that are healthy for me. I will do something physical, even if it's only to walk around the block or pick up a room or do the laundry. I will concern myself only with today. I can't do anything about yesterday, and tomorrow is too far away. I can and will influence today. Today I will give as much support, encouragement, and love to myself as I do to others."

I'm back up 3 lbs!!!!!!!!!!
Here's what was different this week-oatmeal every day and apples at lunch. Part may be water from yesterday's sub meats at lunch. I feel like I should give back all the wahoos I got from everyone last week. The weird thing is my face is skinny and my middle looks like the Michelin man.
I'm hanging in there, though. I am determined to get this weight off and fit into my clothes. I can't afford a new wardrobe.Did a 2 mile WATP last night.
The good news-OUR WENCH IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

{{{ Elaine }}} 3 lbs gained virtually overnight is water - my advice from my own ups and downs - look at what you may have eaten in the past 0 to 48 hours that would cause you to retain water.
I'm very happy to see nearly the whole crew here - has anyone heard from Dee. Also, did anyone let Rebecca - our occasional poster - know where to find us?

I did PM Dee, I did not remember to do Rebecca. I will try and get one out to her today.
Thanks for the hugs, they are much needed and appreciated coming from someone who could use a few of her own!

I only have a minute, all of our kids are getting ready to go trick or treating around the base and my favorite part is watching all of them in their costumes :) I didn't get any computer time last night because we were setting up the new Dell, AWESOME SYSTEM!!!!!
{{{{{{Elaine}}}}}} Don't you dare give the woohooos back!!!! You earned them no matter what that stupid scale says. Also, when I started this woe I intially lost 4 pounds and then nothing for months!!! BUT.....I lost over 15 inches in my body so ....toss the scale and buy a measuring tape :)
Be back soon!

Hey there, Happy all Hallows Eve!!!!! :skull:
I just LOVE this Holiday! Even without eating the candy this year! It is fun to see all of the little ones all dressed up and in a sugar haze!HA Also theory has it that this time of the year the mystic "vail" between us and the spirit world is the closest, so our dear ones that are no longer with us will be close at hand! :read: (Hi to my grandparents!)
Anyway it is refreshing that I have not gotton into the bags of candy and ate half of it!Ha
Elaine, like Ellie said, YOU earned that and it is water, you keep on that horse and keep riding the weightloss ride! GO GIRL!!! :cheer:
Glad to see the bawdy wench in our crowd, (been wearing anymore bikinis lately?)

ROB!!! You told me you destroyed those negatives!!!

My, my, my, but do I look good!
:daze: :daze: :daze: :daze: :daze: :daze: :daze: :daze:
Renee, you slay me. I'm going to have to copy that one, frame it, and slip it into DH's luggage next time he goes out of town. That will be SOME homecoming when he returns from THAT trip!
Elaine, those 3 pounds are just water. Didn't the oatmeal do this to you before? Didn't you have a week of eating oatmeal every day, and then said you were going to give it up? Maybe once or twice a week would be good. I'm having great luck with "protein days." Eat nothing but protein, and spread it out in like 2-ounce servings every couple hours. It's pretty amazing, but you really aren't hungry at all. And it seems to flush that water right out of you. (Speaking of water, be sure to drink a lot during a protein day.)
I did have some cravings today at work. It started out with a 2-hour meeting with 5 other people and a bucket of Dunkin Donus munchkins. I resisted. Then there was a huge bowl of candy corn on the admin's desk all day. Why is that stuff so addicting? Every time I walked by, I had to force myself to keep walking. I knew if I had one, the next time I walked by I'd have a couple more.
It's all about choices, right? My head is now telling me that there are consequences to everything. A month ago, it was telling me that a smidgen here and there won't make any difference at all. Funny thing, though, a month ago I was 10 pounds heavier than I am now. Go figure.
This is such a nice board. I'm going to really like it here.

Hey! What's that 60% doing under my username? I just edited my profile to include a new avatar and added my bodyfat (estimated the "before" stat). Where'd that 60% come from, and what does it mean?

Good Evening!!!
Bawdy- I NEVER destroy negatives!! LOL
BTW- 60 % means that you've lost 60% of the weight between your staring weight & your goal weight!

Ok I am so confused!! Are we over here now???
Had a fairly good day yesterday.....resisted MOST of the treats....but I did have a few. Very good for me....normally I would be pigging on the candy!!
Have a good day all!

Yes, Sweetie, we are. We tried to get to everyone, sorry if we missed you. We'll be posting on this board from now on. It's such an awesome board, and the people are really friendly.
Glad you did well yesterday. I had a running battle with Dunkin Donuts munchkins and candy corn all day yesterday at work, but I prevailed! :dazzle:
Doesn't it make you feel good when you resist something you don't really want anyway, and a year ago you would have pigged out on the stuff and then felt lousy afterward?
