Well I'm waiting to get over my cold before I start LC'ing again, and I wanted to know how everyone else is able to maintain a LC WOE while sick. As for me, when I'm sick I'm a big ole baby so I like to pamper myself and one of the ways I do that is to eat comfort food (if I can taste). And drink lots of OJ.....does any one have any better LC suggestions I can use next time?????[/FONT]

Help....

Hi Sybs-

When I have a cold I like to make chicken soup. I just boil chicken with veggies and whatever spices I feel like. You can get sugar free popsicles and low carb ice cream for that sore throat feeling. I sip diet sprite or ice water with lemon juice rather than juice.

I hope you feel better soon!

I order chicken pho (vietnamese noodle soup) with veggies and no noodles. The hot peppers clear my respitory system and it's not too heavy when you feel woozy. Atkins muffins and black tea were a staple when I was really sick with the flu last year. Hope you get better soon!

I'm actually feeling much better now..thanks. I overdosed on OJ and zinc and even though I'm not 100% I'm very close. SO the pamper party is over and I'll get on board full swing starting Friday am!
Thanks again for your responses!

These suggestions sound good... and I, too, am experiencing a very nasty cold/flu thing as of yesterday... the only thing is, that I'm in the "two week induction period" of the Atkins plan, and they say (whoever they are) that deviating AT ALL during this time can really throw a wrench into the works.

I feel REALLY REALLY crummy, though... but don't want to undermine my really enthusiastic start...

Thoughts?

Honestly, for me, I think you need to be at the top of your health to be dieting properly.

Lots of juice is drinking pure sugar though so maybe vitamin c tablets instead of that but... my recommendation is to eat what makes you feel better.. even a piece of toast if that is all you can keep down. It's not exactly like your calories are high when you are sick.

Take care and then when you are feeling better get right back on track.

Thanks Lisa,

I do feel a bit better today (slept ALL day yesterday... just about), and took the Vitamin C suggestion... I always take 1000 mg of C per day, but I bumped it up to 3000 for the past two days... I think I'm on the upswing. Still managed under 20 carbs per day (although Thera-flu --which is the best thing I've found for flu symptoms EVER -- does have aspertame (a no-no from what I've read) as well as sucrose-- low on the list, but present). This is a great forum, by the way... My first few days hwere, but not my last, I'm sure.

Cheers!

I'm glad you are doing better.

I love it here too! I don't think I would have kept my momentum going as long without it. :)
