Hello everyone,

I have 39 days until my wedding, and desperately need to lose as much weight as possible. I have been on the Atkins for 6 days, and have lost a few pounds, but am really seeking any tips you have to make sure this works.

I can gain and lose weight very rapidly, and will try any tips you experienced people throw out there for me.

THANKS

All I can say is follow atkins induction to the letter. Make sure you eat 15 to 20 grams of carbs, eat veggies, 70% fat, 25% protein. DON'T eat any atkins bars or any other LC treats. Limit your cheese to 3 or 4 oz daily max. And drink LOTS and LOTS of water 100 oz or more.

Exercise also helps!

Good Luck but this is meant as a crash diet.

I would also stay away from diet sodas unless they have Splenda in them.

If you lose rapidly, you can gain it back MORE rapidly... I realize it's close to a special day, so you probably aren't interested in slow and healthy...

A healthy induction-level regimin is your safest, fastest bet.

One question that will NOT make me popular...Why the last-minute rush? I'm assuming your fiancee loves you the way you are, so why the sudden urge to lose a lot of weight so fast?

If you're already in ketosis you could always try the fat fast that the Atkins book mentions, though he doesn't really recommend it for people who are not metabolically resistant.

if you really want to lose weight fast, then go on the cabbage soup diet.

i wouldn't reccomend it to anyone to do for a long time, but you are in a special predicament. I lost 7 lbs on the cabbage soup diet in seven days. granted, it was probably water weight, but it was weight nevertheless.

Im kinda with potatofree..why the sudden need to lose weight just over a month before your wedding?? Talk about not being popular, but I'm gonna say it anyway, the best you could hope for is about 30lbs and take it from me, the difference for me between 260 and 230 wasnt enough to worry about...so enjoy your wedding day, why bother yourself worrying about weight..if you are serious about losing weight, do it the right way!

I did the cabbage soup diet years ago... all it did was make me poop...A LOT! It wasn't very fun.

I lost 7 pounds in 7 days during induction of the Atkins' Diet, and it was more enjoyable than cabbage soup.

Congratulations on your up coming wedding!

He doesn't just "not really recommend it" he says it's DANGEROUS for those not truly metabolically resistant!!!!!

I'd only follow THIS gem of advice if I didn't mind missing my wedding altogether, because I was hospitalized!!!!

Blondegirl-- I don't mean to be harsh..but it would be truly dangerous, and wreck a person's metabolism to boot.

Mofo,

May I remind you that this is a low carb support forum?

Well, I have to also wonder, if you are so concerned about you weight right now, is it just for that "one day" you want to lose?? Like did you go out and buy a suit 3 sizes too small???? Not to sound really rude but this is a serious plan for life here, not a OOps I'm fat, I want to be skinny by, such a date.
When you are ready to take on this way of eating to lose some weight and be healthy, you won't find a better forum then this one, however most of the experts here ( and I'm not one of them ) are not into adviseing for the quick fix diet.
If you have read the book then just follow it, there is no trick to it, just stick to the plan, but no one can speed it up cause of a date, sorry.

can gain and lose rapidly

Then why do you need help? besides that is very hard on the body specially the heart.

I don't mean to sound so rude but stop and listen to yourself.

I wish you Luck, Kathy

Hi Bigtuna!

Congrats on your upcoming nuptuals!

I recently got married and it sure is a hectic and stressful time prior to the wedding.

Since my wedding was very recent, I also felt the same way ... I wanted to lose as much as possible, because, lets face it, you are going to be surrounded by your closest family members and friends, and have endless pictures and video taken.

The best plan you can follow is atkins induction, cardio exercise as much as possible and drink water constantly.

You WILL lose a good amount of weight. Remember, 6 days isnt a long time on Atkins. It takes your body a few days just to regroup out of carb mode.

Since the time right before your wedding is most stressful, doing anything harsh like a starvation diet or the fat fast will literally just make you sick.

The most important thing is to be healthy during one of the most wonderful magical days of your life.

Being on Atkins is like being married :-) Say I do (healthy lc) for LIFE!

Congratulations again!

The diet that I suggested is low carb. It is strictly meat and vegetables.

My advice is not diet wise, just that you should keep in mind no matter how much you want. There is only so much weight you will beable to lose in that time limit. Why toture yourself by forcing the issure for limit results. What I love about Atkins is that you can eat. Relax, enjoy the events before the big day, just keep an eye on the carbs, and your weigth will come off.

Yes stay away from diet sodas with aspartame!!
I have been on atkins for 5 weeks, and I was including aspartame in my daily intake....I finally broke down and bought some SPLENDA.....my weight wasn't even moving.

3 days ago....I bought splenda....and stopped aspartame.

WHOOSH!!!! 4 LBS off in 3 days!!!!! My first movement.

I was soooo happy!!!!

It's taken me 9 months to lose 35lbs .. granted I've gained a lot of muscle too so I don't know how much "storage fat" I've lost. I have a long way to go. I think You are setting yourself up for failure by trying to lose weight in a short amount of time. Just try your best to shed as much weight as you can safely and you won't be so caught up with all ... because the wedding has to be planned too!? Good Luck.

Atkins LC is a way of Eating and A Way of Life, not a fad diet.

Take your time on loosing that weight you have, If not, it will come back really fast again.
