I have noticed that some o you following CALP have sf treats or low-carb baked goods or noodles at rm. If we are allowed to have the real thing, why would you have these modified ones? I was thinking that because of the sugar, people might want sf treats. I was reading the box of SF Russel Stover pecan delights and compared to a choc bar, they have about the same # of carbs?? Is it because of the "sugar" Also, low-carb noodles and bread-why spend the extra money when you can have normal ones. Is it to have rm still reduced in carbs so weight comes off faster? hope this doesn't sound stupid but its had me thinking.

My reason is that its calories in my case. I watch them but don't get me wrong, there are certain things I eat the "real" thing - i.e. pasta.
I do not eat sugar...period. That is my choice. I rather get my carbs from rice, pasta, yams or other carbs and thus far...its working.

Personal preference... I don't count carbs at RM, per se, but feel more comfortable overall eating the reduced-sugar muffins, ice cream, etc., if for no other reason than having them in the house instead of the sugary kind is less damaging if I were to eat off-plan. Besides the fact that they're better for my son as well. Instead of the expensive lc breads, I found a "Light" bread with 5g a slice that is not much more expensive than regular.
We still have the "real" thing sometimes too, and there are some foods that just can't be duplicated in a lc way!

I have never used any low carb products, they aren't readily available here, but I think I would if they were. I sure notice a big difference in my control if I eat too much sugary stuff, which I do, cuz I love it!

I use Splenda lots of times just because I think it helps me to keep the carbs lower. I will have regular sugary things, but I really watch the amounts.
I'd just rather use most of my carbs to flavor and season foods for all of us to eat. It doesn't bother me at all to sub AS for sugar in things that I make for myself....

I asked that question early on, and found out that besides personal preference for watching the calorie intake, some people are sensitive to sugar and syrups. (causes cravings)
Doesn't for me...yet. But I do prefer to eat things like say, low carb bread rather than reg because A. its better for me, more whole grains B. taste yummy
I don't do corn, potatoes, beans very much, because I'd rather "spend" those carbs on something like say....pecan pie or cola or a bun.

for me I am sensitive to refined suagr so I avoid that and just have fake sugar stuff or fruit. I also have tweked CAD to be "for me' which in which for most RM's I try to keep the carbs around 50-60...eyeballing it...and well balenced...you know sometimes that works and other times it doesn't :)
I do also kinda keep an overall eye on caloric intake meaning if suagr free popcicle is good I have that...why have extra calorie if I don't need them to feel satisfied and healty ?
just a personal preference I think...there is no limit on the number of carbs you could have at RM just need to maintain the balence...however that works out for you is fine :)
