Geez!! I'm having one of those days. Have you ever just been so hungry you feel the food calling your name? Probably all the time before low carbing but what I mean is since being legal.
I feel so hhhhuuuunnnngggggrrrryyyyyy today.
So far I've had a bowl of Flax o Meal with butter splenda and cream. Just came back from Wendy's where I had a triple sandwich with all the veggiesl(no bread).
But I just went to the kitchen and did one of those pre Atkins look arounds. I left quickly but, the food's calling me. I was supposed to be fat fasting but I think I'm already too far gone for that today. I think I'll just go binge on a roast chicken. That's better than carbs isn't it?
Today was the first time I've had Flax o Meal. I wonder if the carbs in it (although it's supposed to be 10 fiber and only 2 effective carbs) have spiked my blood sugar levels? Also my TOM came yesterday. Has anyone else ever felt like this?

Oh I actually forgot, I've had a cup of delicious pork rinds too. Why am I hungry???
I feel the same way the day or two before TOM. I just try to stick to legal foods and not worry too much about the quantity and try to remember that the hunger and cravings will end soon('till next month!). Good luck, you can do it!

If you are finding that you are that hungry, try to have some meat or soemthig similar on hand...
When I first started...I would fry up a pound of bacon, and leave it on the counter during the day...if I was going nuts looking for something to eat, I would head to the bacon...
The other thing I did, was have many, and I mean many chicken wings done up and waiting for me...
It took about 1.5 weeks, and the hunger, and the feeling that I was missing something went away.
I have to say, that since that time, I have not had any problems...but I also make sure that there is something around that I can eat should I ever be feeling nibbly.
You could even have chicken breasts in the fridge etc...eat all the meat you want to satisfy your hunger...
Hope this helps.

I just went though a few days of being absolutely ravenous - I tried to stay approximately consistent with what I was eating, but made up a batch of jell-o cheesecake individual servings to help me over the cravings, and had lots of prepared meat to snack on. Anyways, after an almost 2 week pause in weight loss, I lost 5 pounds over 3 days.... I remember reading somewhere that some people get extra hungry just before losing some pounds... hope that's the case for you!

This sounds like a conversation I had with a friend today. I too have been so hungry. Maybe it means both of us will loose a bunch soon.
Hope so!

pump iron or take a long walk or jog. Put off eating until specified time an hour or so away and exercise until then. If you're still hungry you'll feel better anyway.

TOM is always a really bad time for me. I've cheated more times than I can count based on the cravings of time. grrr... Now I just binge a little on low carb treats. lol

Hi all. Thanks for all the encouragement.
Wynter: I hope this means I'll lose a whole lot of weight during the coming week but...I just don't feel it. Plus my ketostix are now only showing small (dark pink to light purple) and I was on the first shade of large all week. Oh well. Maybe all this is TOM.
DarB: I did eat quite a lot of meat today and stayed legal. :agree:
rumford: I'm a little ashamed to admit this but I really haven't started to work out yet. I want to start but I keep thinking when I'm a few pounds lighter it'll be easier to start. I did go on a long road trip today tho and managed not to eat for a few hours.
lamom: Let's keep our fingers crossed. This hunger must be worth something.
pixy_nixy: My parents used to call me pixy nixy when I was a little girl, actually mummy still does sometimes.

That's funny actually, when I was a kid I was always called Niki because I was unable to pronounce my real name, which is Domenique. (lol!)
My mom called me pixy nixy too!

Just reading old posts to remind myself of how to get over the bumps once again. Hope it might help someone else.

Yes, I have occassional spells where I am JUST HUNGRY, DAMMIT -- though not as often as I did when low-fat dieting, when I felt that way much of the time.
When I feel that way now, I guess I figure my body's trying to tell me something, so I eat. I may try to put it off for a while, or drink water (especially hot water -- I find it feels good.) But if I'm still hungry after that, I eat.
We keep cheese sticks in the fridge (since they are pre-packaged 1 oz sticks, I find it easier to eat less) along with a BIG plastic container of cooked drumsticks and (until the kids eat them all) hard boiled eggs. I have had very few days where I feel that hungry, but when I do, I end up snacking on stuff that's very low carb, and not feeling the least bit bad about it.
I have no idea how my TOM would have effected this; I no longer deal with that issue.

I think some folks may not be aware that you are on Day 1 of Induction and that's why you're feeling hungry...
I started Re-Induction last week and for the first 2 or 3 days I was ready to eat a shoe because I was so hungry!
Tough it out though...it will get much better in a few days after you're over the hump. I found that the best thing to do was eat a whole lotta meat at my meals. Don't forget, when you're on Induction, you can't eat all the cheese you want, even if it's LC. 3 oz per day!
Good luck!

I was really hungry for 3 or 4 days recently and I just ate enough to keep me not hungry, which to most would look like I was eating like a pig. Now I'm almost never hungry. It's strange. I still lost weight though.

Eat meat, and always eat the allowed amount of salad for the induction, it really does fill you up.
Plus, drinking water helps when I get hungry!!
