Stopped at McDonalds McCafe the other McDay (lol) and was gonna get a skim milk cap,,,,saw this sign,,, 97% FAT FREE choco frappe, got one and,,,OMG,,tastes like a small chocolate milk in a carton (like moove) put in the freezer and frozen till icy......OMG..yum!
I asked the girl was there a counter for it on the carbs or just the fat,,she said just the fat as far as she knew...
we all know low fat = high carbs,,,,
  but for a treat I thought some days i would like a milkshake and this could be a good sub for that as it only has a tablespoon of this choco powder they use,, 2 table spoons skim milk and 2 cups of ice in it,,, blended and served with cream on top (I got no cream).......creamy and icy,,,just like a chocolate milkshake only McCrunchy...lol...
:read2: OK,who out there has the carb count for this ``choco frappe`??? :exclm: please lord let it be under 10 carb grams!! lol,,,,,it was so yummy,,,,it would have to be better than a full chocolate milkshake,, thats my reasoning! LOL

Matey, I seriously think you'd be better off sticking with coffee. 1 tablespoon of drinking chocolate has 9.1 carbs, and 2 tablespoons of skim milk gives you another 2.
However it's not the fact that it has at least 11 carbs that bothers me, it's the fact that most of those carbs will be straight sugar and will almost certainly set off an insulin response. Remember when it comes to carbs, quality is way more important than quantity. ;)

Why don't you make your own protein shakes. They're as good as any milkshake (maybe even better) I've ever had and low carb. All you need is WPI, whipping cream, ice or chilled water, a little bit of psyllium plus whatever flavours and sweeteners you like. I use DaVinci syrups and sometimes frozen mixed berries. Have you got a blender?

Good point, Zed! I use chocolate flavoured whey PP, 1 teaspoon of cocoa (because the choc flavouring isn't very chocolatey), 1 crushed Splenda tab, and a generous splash of cream. Yummy!

WPI stands for Whey Protein Isolate. Make sure you get isolate not straight whey powder which is loaded with carbs. You can also get whey protein concentrate which has a higher carb count than isolate but I don't know what the exact count is. I use 'Fortis' brand unflavoured WPI which is excellent and one of the cheapest around. It has 0.7g carbs per 100g and costs $40 for a kilo.
When you buy plain WPI you can make lots of different flavoured shakes depending on what you've got on hand at the time. You can also use it for making muffins and other baked goods, porridge, protein bars etc. I make all of these things and couldn't live without my WPI.
I've never seen WPI in a supermarket, only in health food stores. Actually unflavoured WPI's aren't that common.......most health food stores carry loads of flavoured protein powders and shake mixes but very few unflavoured ones. Personally I don't like the taste of the flavoured powders......too fake tasting for me.

Thanks for the kind words. I only wanted to drop a few kilos so was lucky.....they just fell away in the first few weeks of induction when the weight seems to come off really fast. Thanks to this WOL I've been really stable ever since. I have to live vicariously through my husband's weight loss now!

but wanted to ask for your help as you have had such success.
Thanks,

Hi Lisa
No problem with passing on the recipes.....it may take a day or two tho' to put them all together and post. Are you after anything in particular?

I didn't think you were being rude, just wasn't sure what you meant. I've made a separate post for the WPI recipes. I think it's appropriate to sometimes post recipes on the Oz/NZ site because of the differences in measurements, tastes and types of ingredients available in different countries.
