I am a cofused about what I am suppose to see when I aspirate
during a steroid shot. I know that if I see blood I am suppose
to withdrawl and start over. What am suppose to see when I hit
a "good" spot. A couple of times I noticed some type of bubble
when I aspirate. Is this normal. Does it hurt me to inject the
bubble that I aspirated.

No, BTW, the thing you see on TV about injecting a bubble IV
is bullshit too. You would have to inject more than 10 cc IV
to do anything.

you didn't aspirate air. When you pull back on the plunger you
are decreasing the pressure in the needle. If you are in a
vein or artery this will cause the blood to shoot into the
needle. If you are in muscle the effect of aspiration is to
"create" an air bubble but really what is happening is that
you are expanding whatever air is already in the needle thus
making it look like a lot of air.
Short answer, don't worry about it.

I think we all remember the macabre story about the 500cc of
air that was injected directly into you aorta.
