It started Sunday or Monday, less than a week ago. The first night, it was the skin at the center of my back, a bit below my waist. It just hurt, for no apparent reason, as if some irritant had been touching it (but that wasn't the case). That kept up through the second night. Gone the next day. A day later, it was the skin near the area where an appendectomy scar would be, if I had one. That spot hurt, the same way, for a day, and went away. The next day, it was the backs of both thighs, three or four inches up from my knees. That was gone the next day. And the next day (which is today), it's the insides of both thighs. I've never heard of skin hurting for no reason. It's not red, or blotchy, or anything, looks perfectly normal. Just feels like it's been, I don't know, abraded, or something like that. I've spent the evening reading this forum but don't see anyone else who has mentioned this. My SO is a bit skeptical of Atkins, so when he hears about this problem, he's going to tell me it's the fault of my new WOE and I should quit it and go back to eating "normally". I don't want to! I'm very happy with my WOE. Is there any vitamin or mineral deficiency that can cause skin to hurt for no reason? Or, here's a new one -- I'm taking so many supplements, maybe it's a vitamin or mineral overdose rather than a deficiency?

Hi Kari,

I'm not aware of anything to do with a low carb eating plan that should cause such a problem.

Please see your doctor about this. :exclm:
