I came across these at Walmart the other day. They are like you're regular lunch "bowels" like Uncle Ben's or Weight Watchers. But instead of rice & pasta, they are just full of meat & veggies with a special sause. They are only around 10 carbs (each vary) with some dietary fiber, so substract that, and they are only about 6. And they are yummy!!

Today I had Chicken Catchetorri (sp?). Yesterday I had Chicken Primavera, day before Shrimp something. They give ya lots of meat!! And they are relatively cheap. 2 for $5 at Walmart.

:yay:

Found this quite quickly via www.google.ca (http://www.google.ca) -- detailed info available there:
http://www.chefschoicelowcarb.com

I've been expecting this kind of packaged product, just not QUITE so soon! Cool.

They have bigger meals also - chicken or fish with a couple of veggies. However, they aren't cheap - I paid approx $6 for the chicken one. It was ok, and just a few carbs. It's nice to see them on the market.

Does anyone know of anywhere other than Walmart superstores that sell these bowls?

These rock! I've now tried every flavor. Skip the beef stew--it tastes like really poor quality beef. All of the chicken dishes are great. The pork was unbeleiveable. I'm still looking for the shrimp--but don't much faith...

They're $2.98 at my local Wal-Mart.

sounds very interesting.

Do these products come in the freezer/fridge section, or are they on shelves?

thanks!! :agree:

Heya, Steph!

I tracked through the webpage and found the connection to this:
http://www.aurorafoods.com/home.asp
where it's clear that they are frozen.

Wouldn't it be neat to be in the forefront of producing such products here in Canada?

Thanks Jude :dazzle:

I wonder why our Canadian Walmarts are not carrying such products? Can we collectively as them to carry these and other products?

We can individually ask them! I've been in our own Walmart and asked for the Diabeti-sweet (and wrote to the makers of Diabeti-sweet as well)...first case: a shrug of the shoulders and "head office orders"; second case: a very negative response about registering (like they have to, NOT) in Canada and then no response at all.

Sigh.

If we keep asking, maybe they will. It's all about infrastructure. Maybe e/write Aurora Foods and find out if they have an arm in Canada?

Judi - While I haven't seen it in Canada, I did see Diabetisweet at the new Fred Meyers in Bellingham (West Bakerview Road). It's in the Pharmacy section, along with Guylian SF chocolate bars. Hope this helps!

I went to our Super Wal*Mart yesterday right after work and bought six of these meals. They are running $3.98; but thought that was not too bad for a bowl of meat.

I had the chicken primivar, probably spelled that wrong. It was very tasty and had a salad to go with it. I will not eat them every day but am glad to have another option for the days I need to get something and get myself off to work.

Wish I could find these in Kansas!

I'm getting tired of fast food burgers without buns for lunch, and I'm not a "wrap" sort of person.

I second the reply on the beef stew. I tried the Shrimp today and will pass on it in the future. My favs now are any of the chicken dishes in tomato cream sauces and the pork.

The price difference is amazing. They have a sale on the sometime and I'm able to catch them for 2 for $5.

Becareful the sodium intake is very high for some of them.

I've found it in WA before, Jeanyyy, already have some. It's NOT having to cross the border to find it (just like the Sugarfree Tang) that's my dream, but thanks for the post!

I had the shrimp one too and it was not something I would eat again. The Beef and Brocolli was YUMMY!!! My Super Walmart carries Chef's Choice. I was sooooo happy to see a quick lunch idea.

YEAH!!!! I found them at the Super Walmart on Wednesday!!

What impresses me the most is the seasoning -- they taste like real food, not just something frozen and fast.

Something I did think was odd == they have them at SuperWalmart but not at Walmart Neighborhood Market.

very strange, those Walmart people....

I picked up a sackfull of these at my local Walmart Supercenter today, $2.98 each. I've been doing Atkins for just over five weeks, and forgot to bring a lunch from home for the first time. These are just the ticket for a quick, legal meal, and taste pretty good too! Not to mention that the little bowls seem sturdy enough to wash out and keep for other purposes (maybe individual snack bowls full of bbq pork skins on movie night ;-))

Craig,

What flavors have you tired? Favorites?

I've just tried one so far: the Chicken Primavera. It was quite good. At 11 ounces (which I think is average for all of them) it won't leave you stuffed, but it was a good lunch. The others are in the freezer at work for days when I forget to bring lunch.

Actually, today was the second day I forgot to bring lunch, I also forgot yesterday and wound up going through the drive-thru at Hardees and getting a 1/3lb bacon cheeseburger, with mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onion (the bun went into the garbage can). They seemed very dissappointed that I didn't want to make it a combo! Just the sandwhich was nearly $4 with tax, so a $3 low-carb frozen dinner in the freezer is a good bit cheaper and a lot more convenient!

I'm looking forward to trying these!

Of course, I look at it and think how easy it would be to make this myself, but it's all about convenience I guess. I'll certainly keep some in my freezer...

They also cost $2.98 at my local Super Wal-Mart. I've tried 7 flavors; the only one I haven't had yet is shrimp stir fry. I've liked all tht I've tried, although my very favorite is the chicken toscana. They are well seasoned and they have a large amount of meat (for the price).

They're especially handy for a quick lunch and a dinner when I'm too tired to cook.

My local Publix supermarket has also started carrying the Chef's Choice Lo-Carb bowls.

Do you recall the Publix price. It would surely be more convenient to me than Wal-Mart...

they are as cheap as eating out or less.Wal-mart has a lot of the low car products and they are getting more all the time !Chicken Fajita is my favorite !

OMG! Publix has it?!?!?! I can't wait to see if my Publix has these in stock!

I have tried 5 flavors and liked them all!

I would prefer to get them at Publix than Super Walmart, even if it cost a little more! :)

Do you recall the Publix price. It would surely be more convenient to me than Wal-Mart... I'm thinking that it was about $3.50, which is more than my local Wal-Mart price. Also, my Publix currently only has 3 "flavors" for the bowls and the Wal-Mart has 8. (But, it take me 2 minutes to drive to Publix and 25 to drive to Wal-Mart.)

Also, Atkins breads have recently become one of the bread choices at the in-store deli sandwich shop of my local Publix.

They were $3.49 at Publix. Only three flavors but I'd rather shop at Publix any day than Wal-mart (for many, many reasons.) :)

Happy Happy Joy Joy Publix rocks! :)
