I was tuned in to an AM radio station this weekend and heard an interview featuring a guy talking about the low carb lifestyle and why excess carbs in your diet is bad. He gave a good spiel on the evils of the low-fat, high-carb diets, and said he was a researcher for many years on this.
Turns out he was pushing his new product called "Fat Blaster." Ever hear of it? It's a pill that contains chromium (which is found in my daily vitamin supplement), and Garcinia Cambrosia--which I've never heard of and probably have spelled wrong.
The guy explained that it blocks carbs from boosting the insulin levels. Then he had callers phone in with their testimonies. This is where it got funny! The people who called in experienced very rapid weight loss immediately. The callers took one pill three times a day before meals, and NEVER CUT BACK ON CARB INTAKE!!! They reported going out to restaurants when they were absolutely famished, taking a pill before leaving home. By the time the meal arrived, they could eat only about 5 bites or so and then they were full.
I wanted so much to call in and say, "what in the world is in this chemical concoction!" and, "why take 3 pills a day when I could just stop eating pasta and ice cream????"
Anyway, the show confirmed that we here on a low-carb way of life are definitely on the right track. Do not fall for the snake-oil! Someone saw how popular the LC trend is, and decided to use it for his own gain. Beware!!
