atkins is everywhere in all the uk papers especially daily express who say that a 16 year old girl has died of atkins and people shouldnt try it as they will die and damage their kidneys.

I know - its an old story that surfaced in the US last year. There's a thread on it somewhere.
Yet again its based on poor information and inadequate science - its the silly season, no news to print, so they print stuff (however ill-informed) that will sell papers.
Atkins won't damage our kidneys and it won't kill us - panic not!
There's endless research to support this - a quick search of this forum for a start.
It's just another example of 'don't believe what you read in the papers'
Take care, Jay

Hi Gemma,
Yes, as Jay says, it is an old story based on poor information and utterly inadequate science.
Here is what our Doreen says: 1318797
Cheers.

I have just put on a fave pair of trousers I have'nt worn since 1995! Despite all attempts with low-cal etc. I couldn't budge the weight. Now - Hooray - wit Atkins it's all melting away 11lb in 3 weeks. But despite feeling really good and taking all the supplements and stuff, my family and friends persist in waving these newspaper articles under my nose, which don't present one shred of scientific back-up and give a totally distorted view. I'm starting to feel like I'm living dangerously!
Not giving up though and grateful for the daily browse through this board!
PS How do I update my stats?

That's fantastic, thinpin... well done! You must be feeling really proud! :)
Updating your profile is easy... have a look at the top of this page for the line of buttons. The second from the left is a white record card style square with profile next to it. Click that, then click the "profile" tab to get to your details. Hope that helps.

Thinpin, congratulations on your trousers
I know what you mean about people telling you it's dangerous . My mum brings it up in conversation everytime she sees me!
