I, too, am considering the Eades program since I am not losing as fast as I think I should on Atkins. Today I am very confused as to whether I am eating too much or too little and, depending on where I look, I get differing opinions and conflicting information.

Anyway, my question is this: The Eadeses have two books out--one is Protein Power, one is PP Lifeplan. Which one do you recommend? Thanks in advance.

IMHO, to best understand the program you need to read PP first. It gives you the science behind why LC works and why it's good for you. PPLP, also a fantastic read, is designed more as a blueprint for optimal health and less as a 'diet' plan.

One thing to keep in mind though - when PP was written the information on things like EFA's was not as detailed as it is today and the opinions of the Eades on things like Flax oil have changed.

I'd get both books ;)

Thank you for your reply. I got PP because that was all the bookstore had in stock, so I'm reading it first. I'm having a heck of a time with all those calculations, though! I'll have to wait till my DH gets home, he is not math-impaired like I am! LOL

You only need the calculations once to get started. While they sound confusing, it is basic math that is easily done on a calculator. But to avoid undo stress have your DH do it for you.

I thought the math was too hard too. So I decided to do Atkins instead but i didn't feel good eating so much fat and not as many vegetables as I wanted so I got out my PP book again and tried the math. it wasn't as hard as i thought, it went step by step. I need to eat 67 g of protein per day. So I decided to switch. I'd rather eat protein and vegetables than all that fat. And I like that I get an extra 10 g of carbs everyday so I can have two salads instead of just one.
