I have just read that all meat allowed except liver. I had liver the other night fryed with mushrooms it was yummmmmmmmmmmmy.
Could any one explain please.

Thought we were allowed a little - 4 oz.

If you had calves liver hope it was UK reared and not Dutch [which M & S were selling] which is not up to our animal rearing standards.

It was lambs liver and not sure how much just kept eating till I was full, maybe 3 ton!!!!!! Ha ha sorry my little joke.
No really this is the first diet I have been on that I do not finish my meal every time.I think that has something to do with not feeling you are missing out on nice food, knowing your next meal will be just as nice.

did it not say that all meat is allowed in unlimited quantitys except liver.if this is whats meant its because liver is very high in vit a and that can be dangerous in high doses.thats the reason pregnant woman are told to be careful about eating liver.just a thought. :idea:

I've never heard that you can't eat liver. I'd go ahead I don't suppose that you are having it at every meal!

If I recall correctly, many organ meats do have some carbs. I believe you can have a bit, but not on Induction and not large quantities. There is a reference to this in DANDR, early in the Induction section, if I recall correctly.

The reason Dr Atkins restricts organ meats to 4 oz on Induction is that they contain carbs.

According to Fitday, 4 oz liver has 5.87 g carbs. Sorry. :(

Yes, my mistake. Fitday certainly implies that most liver has 2 g carbs per oz. So moderation in all things.

Its like the chicken drumsticks I've got for lunch. The BBQ coating has sugar in it, so they are 4 each. Never mind, they were a real bargin when I brought them.

Hi folks,

while l sometimes have trouble on Fitday trying to find the equiv cooking method when entering my food, l bought a Carb counter book by Dell Stanford at the weekend.

As the cover said the information had been check using "McCance & Widdowson's Composition of Food - 5th Ed ( MAFF ).
l thought if its using the Food Standards Agency publication to check its information it must be ok.

Since reading your comments above l now don't know what to believe any more.

It has :-

Beef Liver, simmered , 100g - 0 carb, 0 fibre, 9.5g fat, 198 cals.
Lambs Liver, fryed, 40g - 0 carb, 0 fibre, 5.5g fat, 96 cals.

it also had - Lager, average, canned and draught 500ml, Carbs Trace ( <0.1g) !

The truth must be out there but how do we find it ?

thats the book i,ve got steve,actually i,ve got 3 books and they all give the carb grams different.i tend to just average between them as 1 or 2 grams difference doesn,t have that much effect to me.
