Want to purchase pasta maker machine to make my own low carb pasta.
What brand, etc. would some of you recommend?
I see there is the hand one or the one that kneads and rolls it out.
Any information would be helpful

I just received mine in the mail today. It's made by
Popiel, has 24 attachments. I won't try it for a couple days yet. I bought it on ebay for about $55
plus shipping. I can let you know what happens...
I'm thinking that as the word gets out on low carb pasta (making your own) the price on these just might jump up.

P.S. Yes, it's an automatic. h all the cooking from scratch, I figured that this would help keep it fun and cleaner

minimum expense and something quick and easy
It's good. We'll see how long it lasts. I'm especially excited to make ravioli- especially with winter around the corner.

Lost the 1st part of message...anyway my noodles were great-kids loved them- spaghetti broke apart
while boiling- The Popiel sometimes strains while extruding (plastic) but it's a good starter unit for me.

What recipe do you use for your pasta? I am not really nuts about pasta but it would be a nice change once in a while - I do like it in salads.

Dear Sewright,
Been busy making low carb blueberry jam...
The pasta recipe I found is at :
httpl//www.lowcarb.ca/recipes/rrecipe026.html on this website!
These really are filling, my husband will attest to that.

Protein Noodles
Recipe by Doreen T.

1 3/4 cup low fat soy flour
3 TBSP vital wheat gluten
1 tsp salt
1 egg
1 TBSP olive oil
1 TBSP warm water, or more, if necessary

The first batch I used almost 1/2 vital wheat gluten and almost 1/2 soy flour with the rest white flour (so as not to shock my family). I used the pasta maker which is fast and easy and not messy. I haven't dried any yet because it's so quick and easy. These were wide egg noodle style
and cooked up great. Have fun. I even kept eating the left over noodles cold--it's like you crave them when they're so satisfying and healthy.

There is another recipe:
Low Carb Noodles at:
http://www.lowcarbluxury.com/recipes/recipe-pasta02.html

These recipes made up my mind to buy the pasta machine-all the possibilities (ravioli too!)

Is it too late to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I've had a Popeil pasta machine for about 9 years now and I love it to death! And we have sorely missed a few noodles in our diet. Anyhow, I actually have everything in the kitchen now to make some, and thanks to you folks, recipes to go with! :)

BTW, for anyone buying one of the machines (and I would see if you can even do this for used machines), go to Popeil's website, get their phone number and call the company and purchase an extended warranty. The machine has a design flaw that is practically impossible to fix, and that's the fact that the face plate self-destructs about every so often (too much pressure behind it). The warranty runs $36.00 for three years and it covers every piece of the machine, including the motor base. Over the almost 9 years I've had mine, with the exception of the motor base and dies, I've replaced every part once, and the face plate probably 4-5 times.

Still, I've not seen another machine on the public market that could even touch Popeil's.
