I had a phone call tonight from my Mother. Nothing unusual in that :) But she asked me to download from the internet information about Atkins :) I nearly died of shock :D She knows I've been low carbing for a few months, but she herself has been on one or other variation of low-fat diets since the time I was born nearly 40 years ago :(

For the last two years she's been on the weight-loss drug Zenical, and while she has lost some weight, it's been a long and miserable process. Today, however, a light finally shone at the end of the tunnel :yay: She checked in with the nurse who has been monitoring her during the Zenical period. She (the nurse) said "As the Zenical is no longer working for you, I suggest you consider going on the Atkins diet" :D

This following all the negative publicity Atkins has recently had in the UK :) So maybe in a few enlightened corners of the medical profession the message is finally getting through...

Hi Slyvia

I too was taking Xenical until I started this WOL three weeks ago, and it made me feel really tired and drained all the time. Tell your mum I feel 100% better since starting Atkins and I wish her loads of luck !!

Hi Sylvia,

I'm sure your mum will have a lot of success on Atkins. If she has any questions, she has you there to answer them for her. I wish her every success. It is heartening to hear that some of the medical profession are coming around at last.
