Nat -hopefully you will get this:
Previously you recommended taking 15 grams of L-glutamine and spacing it throughout the day. One question though; the bottle of L-glut says to take only 2 grams post workout. Why the difference?
I run about 20 to 25 miles a week and weight training about 3 to 4 days a week. Should I take the 15 grams? Thanks!
ps anyone else who might have some info. it would be great! :roll:

Why the difference? It depends why your'e taking it. If you want it to make it through to the blood, past the gut, you need a specific amount.
The formula is as follows:
.1g of glutamine per kg of body weight = one dose. multiply that by 2 or 3. For you this works out to:
148lbsx.04536 = 67Kg.
67Kg x .1g = 6.7g (round it to 7g)
7g x 2 doses = 14g
Supplementwatch suggests 1-10g a day, also based on why you're taking it and doses up to 40g a day have shown no side effects.
Most powders come with a scoop equalling 5g, it's just 'easier' to use multiples of 5.

Q re glutamine: my package says not to take it with acidic fruit juice. What about taking it with yogurt...I use yogurt in shakes. Also, should one take it on non-exercise days?
Thanks

Take it every day - glutamine does a lot more than just help with muscle recovery, which, btw, happens days after you lift anyway!

I love Glutamine personally. I use sometimes up to 3 times that amount when I occasionally go back on the induction period on exercise days. I find that it helps to replenish muscle glycogen to almost the same degree as post workout carbs.
Plus, glutamine saved my life 5 years ago. Literally....
Nat really knows her stuff!
