OK - so it looks like I'm foiled in my plans to buy Beer this weekend!
I'll have to look a bit girly in the Board Inn, drinking Gin & Slimline Tonic probably.
I know there's a thread on here regarding what to take with vodka....
I'm really curious as to what low carb alcoholic drings I can try. Someone suggested White wine and soda.
Any suggestions? (with CC please). I'm hardly eating any carbs at all at the moment - will it work if I save Fridays carbs up for Friday night?

Vodka and diet bitter lemon? Or diet tonic? Or soda?
Try the tinto de verano thing; half and half red wine and diet fizzy lemonade (sprite) with loads of ice. Great in summer.

Hi Capester
I don't think this way of life works on saving up your carbs and then expending them on one nights binge! Nice though the thought may be.
My little lecture is to say that this way of life works by controlling your bodies insulin production. It is increased carbs that stimulate the pancreas to produce insulin. Each time you put food in your mouth insulin is produced, but the harmful amount is around one and a half hours later if all the sugar has not been mopped up by the first bit. That is why you can not save up those carbs. You do need a reasonable level each day and I would encourage you to keep near 20 or more grams a day.
Anyway enjoy your drinking, something I very seldom do!

I could drink a good drink when I went out, but it really knocked me for 6 on sat I dont think l-c and alcohol mix, alcholol really reduces your blood sugar, and if you dont eat enough carbs it could make you very ill. But then again it could have just been me, or the barmaid not giving me diet coke and me having an overload of sugar, boy did I suffer whatever it was!!!

I've had no problem what so ever drinking Gin and Tonic. Vodka and Diet Lemonade. Vodka and water with a twist of lime is nice. Dry White Wines are the lowest in carbs.. and I mean dry!
If you stick to your prescribed drink of choice for the evening you'll probably be ok. Vodka and gin are both good because in addition to being relatively low carb they have little or no cogenes.. I think thats the word.. Which means your liver can deal with them easier.. It is the liver right.
But if you are going to drink seriously then have some resolve about you as per eating.. You can't have a few and then change your mind about what your drinking.. Other people can't buy you drinks that they think you might like.. Bear/bare in mind that if you slip its likely to be three days before your body uses those carbs up.. At the minimum.
Also and I know I might get a bit of a slap for saying this, The calories *dum dum dum* are something that I found it helpful to pay attention to. When drinking alcohol you are consuming shed loads of calories and you body will run on that rather than burning fat before it goes back to fat burning..
I'll stop typing now... This is starting to look like an essay
