Dr A recommended L-glutamin, 500 to 1000 mg before meals and/or when cravings are greatest for sugar cravings. Also L-carnitine if you feel you are metabolicaly resistant to weight loss.

If you're taking the Glutamine as a sports supplement you should divide the dose up into 2 or 3 smaller doses of 3-5g and take them throughout the day - post workout and pre bedtime are best. Post workout helps you recover and staves off muscle wasting, pre bedtime helps with the production of Human Growth Hormone (when you sleep is also when a lot of tissue repair takes place)

Thanks for the replies. I am taking the L-glutamine for muscle recovery, as I said in another post that you responed to Nat, I run about 25 miles a week and lift weight 3 times a week. Should I start w/ 2 doses of L-Glutamine? The bottle on recommends taking 2 grams post workout? ALso, if I am including L-carnatine in my diet as well do I just take that before meals when I think I need it for craving, or on a regulat basis? And, one more question, if I am taking both should I space them apart?
Thanks again! :wiggle:

Wow, 25 miles a week is impressive. I wish! I started running on the treadmill recently. Do you run every other day sl? How many minutes do you do per day or do you just track miles?

On my cardio days:
I do my BFL 20-Minute cardio
Then I do my 20-Minute walk-run
Then my 20-Minute Interval Program

At first I ran 2 mins, walked 1 min for 21 mins
Now I run 3 mins and walk 1 min for 20 mins
I can't wait to run 20 minutes straight!

Peace

red1cutie! Hi. Actually I use a run/walk method as well. I have been running for about 3 months using the Galloway method of running which is a run/walk ratio no matter how advanced a runner you are. I run about a 10 minute mile and when I started I ran a 12 minute mile! A lot of improvement in 3 months! I do a 5 minute run and then about a 45 second walk. The other day I ran 7 miles in 74 minutes so you can see the walk does not slow you down.(It actually only averages out to adding 15 seconds to you mile average) It also help prevent you from getting injured and lets you run even faster at the end of your run then in the beginning b/c of the recovery time. Jeff Galloway has a book out-it's great to get started running.
Can you tell my anything about how you take L-glutamine and L-carnatine? DO you take both together? Would love some advice. Thanks!
