I started Atkins today.
I was really excited & pumped about this last week when I set my start date. Then, today rolls around and I'm questioning myself.
I had a SERIOUS craving earlier today, I don't know if it was mental or physical either.
So many things to learn about myself.
Anyway, I thought I'd drop in & introduce myself.

Hi Joshua,
Hope your first day went well. Give yourself the 2 weeks on induction to settle in with the plan - you'll feel so good at the end of the 2 weeks there won't be any way that you'll want to go back to the "old" way of eating.
Good luck and if you need support drop by my journal.

Hi Joshua,
Welcome and good luck to you!! The first two weeks are the hardest. Once you get past the cravings, and the headache, and learn what you can and cannot walk past in the grocery store, it gets easier.
This web site is awesome for advice and support.
BTW, I love your signature (I have the dragon one on the back of my car!!)

Ellen, heh...thanks, that's a favorite of mine!
You mentioned headaches & I sort of laughed...and now, about 6 hours later, alas I have a headache...
Hey Summer & Ellen, I think that's the best advice I've received. I just need to tough it out for a bit & see how I feel. It's a difficult journey but I think I need to do this!

I've been on Atkins for about a month now, and I remember just how hard those first two weeks are. I would read posts in here and laugh at people talking about the increased energy and all of the positive effects, constantly thinking that it would not happen to me. But, I was wrong. I feel fantastic, and it hasn't been hard at all. The key to my success has been variety. I try every product I can and make sure that I don't get too tired of what I am choosing as meals.
Good luck to you on this journey, I wish you the best!

Josh, glad to have you! :D
I'm only starting Atkins now myself to finish my goal.
I wish I had known of this site over a year ago, it might have made my journey a little bit easier than how I did do it all, counting calories and excercising. Not just that, it wouldn't have been such a 'lonely' journey if I had had this board to talk with people about my trials, stalls, and the insulting moments along it's path.
I'm glad I'm here now to finish this the RIGHT WAY and to help be there for others just begining their trip to success!

Hi and welcome! :) The first 3-4 days were the hardest for me. I was tired and lethargic, and then after day 4, I felt SO much better. Hang in there!

Hi Josh :)
Glad to have you here. Hang tough, it does get better, and the cravings do go away. I found it very helpful at first not to have to be around a lot of carbs, or at least carbs that were my weakness. Drink a lot of water and eat legal food when you are hungry.
