Hi all, well i certainly dont feel like i'm starving, but after doing the fit day food thing for a 4 days, I have noticed that my cals are not real high, which i thought was great, but last night i found a post about your basel something, (sorry in a fog this morning). I didnt think really that much about it but this morning so far on any activity i am wiped out. Like going up my stairs, and blow drying my hair, i just couldnt keep my arms up, after comming up the stairs, it felt like i had just climbed a pryamid. I am 5'8, 167.5 today, for the last four days this is my totals,

27carbs,bad and 1119 cals
13 carbs 1305 cals
17 carbs 1661 cals
15 carbs 995 cals

It seems silly to me to ask and until i have felt like this today I thought i was doing good with the food intake, except for those 27carbs that day, that damn fried chicken lol. I cant get over that. Oh by the way, I am only 34 years old so my heart pounding and my legs shaking from walking up one flight of stairs is not normal for me. Any insight ya'll could give me I would really apprciate it. (please forgive my spelling)
Thanks in advance,
kara

Okay, you know you need to up the calories. I would definitely suggest you eat at least 1600 calories. You can increase them pretty easily by cooking with oil and butter, eating more salad dressing, avocado, etc.

As to the fogginess and heart-pounding, might I recommend you supplement with some potassium? Atkins recommends 400mg of potassium during induction. Calcium and magnesium are also very good for induction woozies.

Besides that, your body is just trying to adjust to this new metabolism you're creating. The nasties should go away as you get used to it, eat properly (get those calories up!) and get some more nutrients.

Hope you feel better soon! :)

I had the heart pounding also for much of the first week. It does go away after a few days though.

Hi there

Remember that the fuel you are supposed to be using is your own body fat. I find that I am only eating around 1200 but feel fantastic. You are probably getting used the whole new way of eating and using those spare tires for a good purpose. Remember to drink heaps of water. I can guarantee you will feel a world better by the end of week 2. Keep up the good work.
