Week One is about done and things are going pretty well. I am eating exactly what I am supposed to eat and exercising every day. Today I did the Joyce Vedral workout this morning, and yoga this afternoon. I had eggs (omega 3) cooked in coconut oil with some grated mozarella and oregano for breakfast. It was an early breakfast, around 7am, I woke up early and with the time change overnight, it was really early: 6.30 am! After the workout, I had a can of salmon with some mayo around 10. Then at 2, I had (still) a bit of leftover buffalo meat. For dinner, I'll cook a tiny cornish hen, and I'll have some salad with that. It's time to increase the veggies a bit. I feel well, and rather toned already by the workouts.
Nancy, I totally agree with you that age and menopause make a difference in the rate of weight loss. I actually find the 'biggest loser' quite frustrating, as they do lose such a huge amount of weight each week (14 lbs! what's with that!) and I cannot even count on a regular 2 lbs a week. I am totally jealous!
Weight training? I personally think it is a good idea to do it; it might stall the weight loss, but I am convinced that it increases the fat loss. And ultimately, this is what counts; for me anyway.
Roxie, congrats on winning over temptation...
that philly steak sounds real good. I have never heard of it; do you put the cream cheese on top of the steak?
Tomorrow, we start Week Two of Induction!!!
Have a fantastic evening...

Boy, does age (time of life) not just TOM make a difference on weight loss. Before 30, it's MUCH easier. Every 10 years, it just gets harder and harder....slower and slower....so lose it as soon as you can. The older you get, the harder/slower it is.

Hi Ladies,
Today was our granddaughter's 1st birthday.Really thought I would stay away from temptation but I didn't.I made it through 6 days of Induction then messed up.Tomorrow is another day.Since I had planned on staying on Induction for awhile I still have plenty of time not to mess up.My indulgence was a piece of birthday cake.I even took a cheeseball, cheese cubes(crackers for others to enjoy) and pork rinds so I would eat right.I ate the cheese but just couldn't leave the cake alone.

I should do OK up until Thanksgiving.

Fauve and Roxie...you are both doing really well. The Philly cheesesteak without the roll sounds really good.We used to get some really good Philly cheesesteaks when we lived in the DC area when I was growing up.

Tomorrow is a new day and I will do well.

Nancy, My husband loves this pizza so much that he prefers it to the regular pizza. All of my grandchildren and their parents love it as well. I also came across a recipe for a Taco Bake that uses the same crust recipe. Everyone loves it as well. I think the strength training does the same thing for me. The whole of last week was hit and miss for me on exercise as well as eating right. I have been having the grandkids more than usual since everyone is helping with the new store. I'm use to being able to exercise with the two girl's but when you throw the 18 month old in the mix things don't always go so smoothly. Adam was sick with the croup last week and his day care wont take him when he sicks so I had him all week. It looks like I didn't do much if any damage so back to the grind this morning. I have three weeks before I have to go to my Dad's and I would like to look decent.
Fauve, I always sleep good when I exercise alot. I have more energy during the day but come 8 or 9 at night and I'm ready for bed. Keep up the good work.
Bobi, your more than welcome for the recipe. I have tons of recipes that I have collected the last couple of years. Let me know what your looking for and I'll do my best to come up with a good recipe for you. My husband eats pretty low carb to help me out so I try to make food that will keep him happy so I'm always looking for good recipes or treaking one of my old ones.
Rocks, years ago we were stationed in New Jersey and Cheese Steak Hoggies's were a favorite of our family. There is a little place here called Sam's that makes the best Cheese Steak Hoogie's. Once a month I treat myself to anything I want to eat and Sam's is on the list. I have found that a planned cheat helps keep me on track for the rest of the month. If I'm tempted to treat at any other time I remind myself of the extra carbs I'm going to have on cheat day so I end up saving all of the carbs I can. Sounds weird I know but it works for me.
I got my hair trimmed and layered yesterday. The lady actually did a pretty good job. I hope everyone has a great week. Keep up the good work.
Jes and Linda, I hope things are going well for you both.

Day Eight, and eight lbs. later...that's right, eight pounds. I lost all that I had gained during my "pre-surgery, post surgery, don't give a flaming leap" phase....plus one more pound! I wasn't even going to weigh myself, because it's hormone time, but I felt so good after exercising, I just did it. You'll notice that the scale stopped dead center on 200, if it had gone over the edge into the one hundred's, I would still be unconscious from the joy of it!
The treadmill music today was supplied by Little Stevie Wonder, "Fingertips" and other Motown Music. The "Fingertips" version is the live version, and when it came on, I grabbed those 'interactive' ski type handles on the treadmill and I was working it out! I was wishing that y'all could see me.
Brenda, I'm very glad your hair came out looking good. Little things like that can really give you a lift. Sounds like you have a good idea with a monthly carb day to treat yourself. That really gives you something to look forward too. I've promised myself that when I hit the one hundred's and hold it for at least a week, I am going to buy my favorite perfume.
Nancy, it was your granddaughter's first birthday. When something like that happens to me, I try to get some perspective on how far off the wagon I fell. Even if the cake had 600 carbs, do you realize that is what the average American eats per day in carbohydrates? You see, in my mind that makes it average to have the cake, which is so much better than feeling like a sinner. :)
Linda, I hope you get the chance to stop and chat for a while here, you've been flying in and out with a hundred things you're doing there! It's sure good to see ya though.
Fauve, you're doing great! You're meals sound good and you sure are exercising plenty! I have also been sleeping much better at night. Doesn't that feel good!? It is kind of embarrassing to slip off to bed at 9, but I told myself last night that my body knew durn well that it was really 10. :)
Bobi, have ya made the pizza yet?
Hey Parisfox! How are you making out there?

Good Morning
Wanted to stop by while my granddaughter is napping. She had a big day yesterday so I figured that she would be ready for a nap this morning and I was right:)

Sure was nice to have daylight when we left for our daughter's at 7:15 this morning. The only drawback is that it will be dark around 6 this evening.I'll be getting in plenty of walking this evening when I go with my daughter to take my grandson Trick or Treating. He is at the age 4 1/2 when he really enjoys it.Some of their neighbors even invite him in their homes.I love to see how everyone decorates for the autumn season too.

I know I've come a long way since I started low carbing over 2 1/2 years ago.I did so well on Induction then gave in to the cake yesterday.I know it won't hurt me in the long run but it sure messes up Induction.I am down a few pounds from a week ago so I am pleased with that.

Brenda....so sorry to hear that your grandson had the croup. When our grandson came home from preschool on Friday he was acting tired so he even agreed to lay down for a nap which is so unlike him.He slept for a couple of hours. When he woke up he was running a fever.I gave him some children's Tylenol which really helped. He loves spending the night with us over the weekends. So he was ready for bed at his regular time and slept really well.Saturday morning his fever was gone and he felt much better. It was so odd how he had that fever and then got over it so quickly. He was fine this morning and went off to preschool.I was afraid he had something that would last a few days and the rest of us catch it but thankfully that wasn't the case.
I'd love to have the recipe for the Taco Bake too.I love to use low carb recipes that others have used and like.

Linda...It was nice hearing from you.Hope the weather is nice out your way and that you have a nice day. It's going up to 70 here today.

Rocks..Congratulations on your 8 pound weight loss. That is wonderful!!Now you are at 200 and just a pound to go to get to Onderland. That is fantastic. What is your favorite perfume that you want to buy once in Onderland for at least a week? I'll have to think of something special that I want once I get to Onderland.Once I get to Onderland that means that I will have lost 45 pounds. How nice that will be:)I love Stevie Wonders Fingertips. That will get you going for sure.Haven't heard that in ages.I really enjoyed Motown music in my teen years and still enjoy the Motown oldies.

Is anyone a fan of Wynonna? I got her book for my birthday and have really been enjoying reading it.

Better get going. My granddaughter will be waking shortly.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL OF YOU :cheer:

Hi...am doing fine now that I am home from vacation. I spent 10 days in Nixa, MO visiting my sister who is a FABULOUS cook, :yum: but cooks high-carb, high-calorie, high-fat. :nono: Gained 7.5 lbs in the 10 days....and the better part of 2 of those days was spent traveling....not eating at her house. The next time I go to her house, I am taking my protein powder and my protein bars with me. :agree:

Have been home 4 days and have lost 5.5 of those lbs!! Now to stay on track and get the rest off and more.

Have a good day, don't let the ghouls get you, and stay out of that candy!! :nono:

Rocks, you rock! (Sorry, just had to do this!)
But seriously, a loss of 8 lbs in a week is fantastic! Good for you!
Nancy, don't worry about the cake; it will be out of your system soon and you are back on plan, which is the most important thing. It's what we do 90% of the time that counts; really.
Judy, well done! You got rid of the added weight right away.

I just came back from my morning walk, one hour, fast pace. Feeling good.
I am not doing anything special today for Haloween.
I don't like this holiday very much, and without my granddaughter to take me out trick or treating, I rather spend the evening with a good book.
Wishing you all great fun!

I watched Oprah this afternoon, while doing yoga.
'Did you let yourself go?' was the topic. Really good show.
I saw myself in several of those ladies. So busy being a mom and a sister and a friend and a daughter that we forget about ourselves. So the question we have to ponder is 'Who am I?', which is very different of 'What do I do?'
One lady said: 'I was so busy making my daughter part of my life that I made her my life' Light Bulb Moment!
Anyway, it was another good day food-wise and exercise-wise. I am proud of myself.
Have a great evening.

I'll bet that show was interesting. I've personally been grappling with doing what I can to stay attractive while trying not to cross the line into total self involvement. I have a friend that morphed into another person when her children left home and she lost weight. She left her husband of 25 years, and is bar hopping wearing very short skirts and tube tops. I spoke with her daughter last night on the phone, and it was very emotional. Her daughter is embarassed and shocked. She feels like a two by four hit her in head. This friend went from a happy homemaker and wife, to someone who is now unrecognizable to me. She gets her hair done every three weeks, fingernails done every week, waxed every two weeks, tanning bed twice weekly, and I'd love to have the money she's spending on clothes, I could pay my mortgage.
I tried very hard to convince her to get counseling, but she thinks I'm just jealous, and she won't discuss it.
Was anything like that covered on the show you saw? I know that I'm powerless to do anything about it so I let it go as much as I can, but it's like watching a train wreck in slow motion.
Has anyone else had this happen with friends or loved ones?

Good Morning,
Wanted to wish everyone a nice Tuesday.

Went Trick or Treating with our grandson and daughter last night.Got in lots of walking since we were out almost 2 hours and that was all walking in her area and some was up and down hills.I slept great last night.

I also watched most of Oprah's show yesterday.Did anyone else notice how frumpy some of the ladies looked?I was thinking that they must have told the women to dress in their everyday clothes since most women that come on Oprah dress to the 9's overweight or not.The show dealt with how the women are doing after letting themselves go.They showed big blown up "before" pictures and then had them come it.It was a complete turn around of most before and after.. .They dressed to the 9's before and were thin etc. They came out overweight and rather frumpy for some.Didn't see the last 15 minutes of the show so I was wondering if they are going to do followups with these women?

Tonight is The Biggest Loser show.I always look forward to that show even if it isn't realistic with their fast weight loss.

Rocks....about the only comfort I can offer you (and your friend's daughter) is.....it's really hard to tell what the motivating factor is behind her behavior.

I was divorced after 28 years of what a LOT of people thought was the "perfect" marriage. Yeah...perfectly awful in some respects. He just couldn't seem to remember that fidelity was part of the marriage vows. To this day, he won't actually admit that he "slept" with any of them, even though I had actual proof.

So, don't be too quick to judge her. Maybe she's just going a little crazy with her new-found freedom and will settle down in awhile. All you can do is pray for her that she doesn't come to any real harm because of it (this can be dangerous in this day and age) and let her know you are her friend and there for her.

You might advise her daughter to get some counseling (for herself) to learn how to handle this and not let it destroy her relationship with her mother...as someday she will be sorry if she becomes totally estranged from her, and it is much easier to keep a relationship alive (even a difficult one) than try to rebuild it if it is totally destroyed.

If your friend doesn't have any children young enough to be living with her, she's really not endangering anyone but herself. It's just too bad that she can't see that what she is doing will NOT get back her "lost" years if that's how she views her marriage.

Thankfully, when my marriage ended, I had a 12 yr old daughter and certainly wasn't "free" to go crazy even if I had been so inclined. Wouldn't have had the money, and it would have endangered my daughter. I never had the inclination to live that lifestyle, but if I had, being responsible for my daughter (and having to work fulltime) would have held me back.

So....grin and bear it and if she truly is a friend, be there to catch her when she falls....sadly, it's "almost" inevitable.

Wow. You really made me feel better about the situation, and you are totally right about her daughter and counseling. I was gonna call her daughter tonight and just check in, and I'll ask if she's given that any thought. She is really dealing with a lot of anger.
Part of what makes her behavior a little scarey, is that up until a few months ago, SHE was telling me she was happy with her husband, and looking forward to their 25th Annivesary. Her oldest daughter got married in mid-August, and this gal just lost it. To be honest, I've seen mid-life crisis and dumb choices being made, but this was a complete 180 within a matter of months. Unless she was the best actress in the world. :)
Thank you so much for the thoughts and the support and especially the insight.
God Bless Ya!

Good Morning Ladies, I took four of the grandchildren trick or treating last night. They all looked really cute and they had a blast. I took some of the cutest pictures and they all ate way too much sugar. I didn't eat one piece of candy and to tell you the truth I wasn't even tempted to. I walked 45 minutes on the treadmill this morning and did a 40 minute tension cord workout afterwards. I'm going to go to Curves this afternoon. I didn't get to go but once last week because I was so busy helping stock the toy store and helping out with the kids so the rest of the adults could help as well. Grand opening is this Friday. I passed out toy catalogs last night to all of the parents of the trick or treaters. Hopefully Friday will be a big success and loads of fun. Congrats to all who lost weight. Keep up the good work. I have a girlfriend that is going through a mid life crisis. She is about to drive us all crazy. She was insisting that her husband was having an affair and was ready to live him. Everyone was trying not to make matters worse but I finally had my fill of the bullshit and I sat her down and told her to go get some help before she not only trashed her marriage for good but lost all of her friends. Come to find out when she went to the Doctor her hormones were all out of wack. I talked to her yesterday and she thanked me for getting on to her and pushing her to get help. Thank God things turned out Ok. She could have just as easily told me to go to Hell. I guess we all deal differently with getting old. The older I get the happier I seem to be. I truly enjoy my grandchildren and I'm enjoying being able to be friends with my kids instead of having to spend all of my time being Mom. I can't understand those women who feel like their life is passing them by just because they are going through menapause. Granted menapause really bites it but I say we deal with it and move on.
Nancy I'm glad your grandson isn't sick. Adam is feeling much better and was able to go back to day care yesterday. I just have Julia today and she's not real sure what to do with herself. Got to run for now. Hope everyone has a great day. I love reading all of your post. I will post the Taco Bake recipe later today Nancy. Has anyone tried the pizza recipe yet ?

Brenda, that sounds like so much fun; how many grandkids do you have?
I have copied your pizza recipe, but have not tried it yet. I intend to, though.
Glad your friend is ok.
I agree with you, I too feel more at peace as the years go by; there is wisdom in aging, and I sure enjoy it!
I am still doing well on Induction. I am now eating the permitted veggies and reducing the cals a bit.
Yesterday, I woke up feeling tired and fuzzy, and it lasted all day. Wonder why. Did not exercise at all, but kept on plan food-wise.
Today, I woke early and energetic, and went for a walk right after breakfast. Go figure.
I watched the biggest loser last night; they are getting so attached to each other, it's amazing to watch. Some of them did not lose that much this week (1 and 2 lbs), but the majority lost a lot again. Good for them. They sure work hard at it!
Wishing you all a fantastic day.

Good Evening Ladies,
Sure was nice to see the scale go down today.Haven't been tempted by my grandson's candy and it's stitting out in a bowl on the kitchen counter at their house. He isn't much of a candy eater so I don't think he has eaten much of it yet.I went to the grocery store and got some roast beef and a rotesserie chicken.I upped my protein today and my weight went down.Don't know if that had anything to do with it but I sure have been wanting more protein. It's so filling and just about 0 carbs.

Fauve..I watched Biggest Loser last night.I had been wondering when their weight loss was going to slow down and that's exactly what happened last night.I was so thrilled to see Dr.Jeff being the only person on his team be the biggest loser with a 10 pound weight loss.

Brenda...I have to agree that this is such a special time in my life.I enjoy all of my time with my grandchildren. It's so special to have a granddaughter now.I enjoy doing so much with my grandson. It was fun going out Trick or Treating with him and seeing all of his excitement.Saturday we are taking him to see the movie Chicken Little. That should be alot of fun!!I haven't tried the pizza recipe yet.Might give it a try next week if hubby agrees. He has become such a picky eater and of course he doesn't want to eat what is good for him.His doctor had to up his diabetes meds last week since his glucose readings remain up.OF course hubby takes the easy way out by relying on the meds and not changing his lifestyle.

Hope everyone is having a nice evening.

Nancy....has DH done any research on diabetes? Those meds pound the ^*&% out of his pancreas trying to make it produce more insulin if there are ANY cells left to do so....hastening the day when he will be on insulin shots. Does he know this? If not, it's something he should consider. A change in diet is much easier than shots and even with them, the danger of future neuropathy and/or organ damage (especially kidney failure) is quite high.

Maybe the possibility of losing his sight and/or both of his legs would be a deterent. It's something he needs to decide.....junk food or legs/sight? Not a difficult choice when you know what the choice is.

It's just too bad the medical profession, and especially the diabetes docs/nutritionists don't have all the true facts, or at least they don't tell their patients.

Good Morning Ladies,
It's a cold morning here and I need to get outside a little early since there is frost on the car.

Judy....hubby knows all about eating right etc..He already has neuropathy but just doesn't seem to care.He wants to eat whatever he wants. When I started low carbing almost 3 years ago my hubby started out with me and did really well. His doctor was so proud of him.He lost about 30 pounds and all of his blood work was normal. His doctor was so proud of him and told him that he was his poster person for low carbing. He was going to recommend it to his other diabetes patients. My hubby eating right didn't last too long.He missed all of his junk food and potatoes, rice and bread.I still don't buy potatoes.I buy low carb bread and that's what he eats.I fixed a roast last week and didn't cook it with potatoes and carrots.Hubby didn't eat much of it so I froze it to have another day.Last night we had the remainder of it.He told me that it wasn't too good the last time since I didn't have potatoes and carrots with it.Since he is diabetic he doesn't need the potatoes and carrots so I won't buy them. This is exactly what I am up against when I say he is a picky eating. He doesn't want to eat food the way it's good for him and I can't change him.He will just have to eat the way I cook or do without it.I refuse to go back to our old way of eating with potatoes, pasta, rice and macaroni and cheese at meals. Thanks for your feedback Judy.

I better get going since the frost is heavy on the car.

Have a nice Thursday everyone.

It's cold here too, Nancy! We had the first heavy frost of the season last night. I've been waiting for it, so I don't have to cut the grass anymore. :) Scrape the windshields, or cut the grass....what a trade-off.
Brenda and Fauve, I sure agree with ya on the beauty of age. It's so nice to sit calmly and watch the young become hysterical about every single little thing that doesn't go exactly right. If nothing else, I've learned to choose my battles carefully and conserve my energy for the things that matter most. Yep, that's me....it's all about energy conservation!
Judy, I sure agree with you about doctor's and diabetes. I lost my husband to 'complications' of diabetes. He was 50 years old. The nutritionist had him on a low fat, high carb diet, just like the USDA food pyramid suggests. I wish I had known about the Atkins diet back then. Now, whenever I hear about someone being diagnosed, I ask what type of diet the doctor recommended, and it's the same one. Nancy, I think you are on the right track, preparing good food that is healthful and doesn't cause insulin spikes. I admire you for sticking to your guns! It ain't easy.

Nancy, Atkins has a Bread mix out for the bread machines. My husband loves the Country White mix. Dreamfields has several different types of pasta out in the grocery stores. My whole family can't tell the difference. If hubby loves Potatoes make him the Faux Mashed potatoes out of cauiflower. I make a scalloped turnip casserole that my family loves. If you pre-cook the turnips for a few minutes in boliling water with a little milk it takes all of the stong flavor out of the turnips. I also make a Mock mac and cheese with cauliflower or use the Dreamfields pasta. If you use carrots for him try the frozen carrots they don't have all of the added sodium. Just don't put as many in your roast. If you can't get him to stop eating all of the bad stuff just cut back on what you can. My Dad is a a severe diebetic and juct cutting back in the areas you can has made a big difference for him. Let me know what his favorites are and I'll work on coming up with some recipes he will like. Almost everything can be made low carb and low sugar without even telling him. I also had my Mom buy the small new or red potatoes so she could contol portion size. When my Mom cooks them she cuts them in half so it looks like he is getting more than he really is. Some canned veggies have a great deal of sodium and have added sugar. Try to use fresh as much as possible.
Fauve, I have 14 grandchildren and they range from the age of 18 months to 14 years old. They are my heart ! All but 5 live within 20 minutes of us so they are in and out all of the time. I also help watch three of my grandchildren so their Mom's can work. I have mornings where I have to force myself to get up and exercise. My Doctor says those are the days we need it the most. Easy for him to say when I'm the one with the stiff joints. I have been forcing myself on those days and I do feel better afterwards.
Roxie, Sorry about your husband. Men can be so stubborn. It's getting really chilly in the monrings here too.
Judy I agree with you on Doctor's . My Mom had heart surgery not too long ago. When she ask her Doctor about going on the Atkins diet he told her not to. After her surgery she went back several months later and he had lost tons of weight. When she asked him how he told her he went on Atkins. It was healthy for him but not for the people he was suppose to be helping. Doctor's should get with the program.
I guess I better go and get some things done before the grandkids get here. Have a great day everyone. I love reading all of your posts.

Brenda,
Thanks for your suggestion.Hubby hate the taste and smell of cauliflower so I am afraid that he wouldn't eat it mashed or any other way.As a matter of fact I have made mashed cauliflower and he wouldn't even try it so I no longer try any of those substitutions.

I love turnips and would love the casserole recipe but honestly I don't think my hubby will eat it.

I buy Dreamfields pasta and use it for macaroni salad and spaghetti. It's really good and we can't tell the difference.I should give it a try for macaroni and cheese. How do you make it using the Dreamfields pasta. Was wondering since it has been years since I've made mac and cheese from scratch.Hubby likes the boxed mac and cheese(which I haven't bought since low carbing).

Since he is with me 24/7 he knows what I buy and how I fix it so there is no fooling him, lol. He's satisfied with his low carb bread so I am glad about that.He went back to the doctor a week ago and had lost 3 pounds since his previous visit two months ago.Don't know how he did it with the way he eats.Guess his eating isn't as bad as it could be but he makes the wrong choices which cause his blood sugar to stay up.It's not the quantity of food that he eats but what he eats.

He goes back to the doctor the end of the month so it will be interesting to see how his lab reports are this time.

Thanks for all of your input.

Nancy...good for you for sticking to your low-carb guns. If he wants to kill himself, that's his choice, but I don't blame you....I wouldn't help him or contribute to it. He could just get his poison elsewhere.

If he is picky enough, maybe he'll eat less overall and lose some weight in spite of himself. When he goes blind, he'll be sorry, but it'll be too late. Too bad people can't REALLY see what they are doing to themselves.

Roxie...sorry about your loss. Yeah...isn't it amazing that with all the research/information out there that even the American Diabetes Association still recommends high-carb for diabetics? My oldest daughter is diabetic and they tried to get her on that WOE when she went to a Diabetes Workshop recommended by her doctor so she could learn the best way to control it. She told them since being diagnosed that she had discovered that following PP controlled her blood sugars and she didn't even need meds. Naturally, they didn't believe her and actually scoffed at her.

That worked for about 3 years. Then she did have to begin taking the meds. At that time they re-diagnosed her. Instead of a Type 2, she is a LADA...she eventually had to go on insulin shots. With the insulin, she didn't have to watch her carbs so much, and you can guess what happened. She quickly put on about 15 lbs. :agree:

I told her about the Meat & Eggs Diet thread here and she tried it to lose the 15 lbs. The results were amazing. She is not only losing weight, she no longer has to take insulin shots to keep her blood sugar in the desired range. None at all. She's been on it for awhile now and hasn't had ANY insulin for 2 weeks. Since she isn't taking in any sugar, there is no need for insulin to control the sugar. She said that if she took a shot with her BS at 90, they would crash and she'd pass out. She keeps her carbs at 0-5g a day...not per meal, per day...and takes liquid vitamins/minerals so she doesn't need to eat anything but protein/fat.

I am so happy for her. She's not sure how long she will do this, but it is great to get a respite from shots. Even if she only does it for awhile it will be nice for her. And she can always come back to it when she feels like it to get off the shots for awhile again.

She feels much better (of course, because of almost no carbs) AND she no longer has a problem with constipation. Now that surprised me since so many people get that problem with this WOE.

Hi everybody! I'm a real new newbie. I've been reading these posts and just signed up yesterday. (What is Lol? I see it a lot) I'm 5'4" and weighed 185 as of Oct.30. I decided that the scale scared the living daylights out of me for Halloween; so I started the Atkins on Halloween night. (NOT one candy went into me!!) I'm 56 and have two beautiful granddaughters 7 & 5. When I see them, they want to run and play and I get so winded it makes me sad. I WILL lose this extra 60 lbs. with y'alls help. I have a nice treadmill at home but have not gotten up the gumption to use it for more than a couple of weeks a few years ago. (I put on the extra 60 lbs. over the last 10 years since I remarried). Anyway, sorry if I'm writing too much; I'm excited to find some support. Any advice?

Hooray, another biker chick! My husband and I have a Harley Electraglide and it has changed our lives too! If I lose this darn weight I can buy those bang'in leather clothes. Right now, I would look like a sea lion! Oh, well I'll keep dreaming of that day when I will weigh 125lbs. again (which is the posted pix of me on my 45th birthday). Wanna be my buddy? I have an unused treadmill too! I calls me every night but I'm still ignoring it...

LOL means Laughing Outloud; BTW = By the way; ROFLMBO = Rolling on the floor laughing my butt off....and then there's ROFLMAO (you fill in the A word)...LOL

I "used" to have my own bike.....but gave it up mostly because of back problems and now that I'm divorced and living in an apartment I don't have a garage and I'm not spending $55 a month for one. Besides, nowadays (compared to 10 years ago), there are just too dang many crazies (in cars) out there just trying to hit a bike.

I had a Honda 500 CB Twin. Sweet bike. Small enough for town, but big enough to be comfortable on the road. My son just bought his 3rd BMW. He got my ex's BMW R/75 when we split. Then a few years ago, he got a new BMW 750, then just recently added a BMW 1100. Now THAT'S a nice bike. It has EVERYTHING imaginable on it.

Ah....nostalgia. Think of me when you are whizzing down the highway!!

Hello!
I am still on plan, but I am not feeling well. Again today, I am lethargic and dazed. I don't feel like doing anything. The weather is dreadful, grey, rainy, cool. Nothing too inviting!
Still, I don't understand why I feel so bad; it does not make any sense.

Fauve, don't know what to tell ya, but I have heard of folks that felt that way for 2 weeks when they were on strict induction. My sister even got headaches with that feeling the first two weeks she did Atkins. I feel better than I did before induction, but I'm in bed early too. Let us know how ya are!
Sevencars! Wecome! You asked for advice, so here it is....you've got a treadmill, use it! I'll let ya in on a secret, once you start and make it a habit every morning, you won't want to quit. Get a headset and a tape player (CD's tend to jump) and WALK! I usually post what music I exercise to each day right here on this thread. I'm going with ZZ Top today!
Everyone have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies,
I felt lighter this morning and the scales showed it.I'm so happy that I am back to getting the pounds off.At this rate I should make it to Onderland within a few weeks.Only 11 pounds to go and I will be at 199,yeah!!Upping my protein has really helped me stay satisfied as well as see the weight come off.

I have also been feeling rather tired this week.Didn't know if it had to do with the time change or not since we turned the clocks back over the weekend.Last week it was getting dark around 7.Now it gets dark around 6.I am hoping that by next week I will have adjusted to the darkness coming so early.I got to sleep in a little later this morning since my son in law is off and has the baby. That extra sleep felt wonderful and I feel so refreshed this morning.

Brenda...hope the opening of the store is a huge success.Did you say that it's a toy store? This is the right time of year to open a toy store!!

Fauve...so sorry you aren't feeling well. The weather might also have something to do with the way you are feeling. Are you missing your granddaughter by any chance? I know that time with my grandchildren always perks me up.I really miss my granddaughter on days that I don't have her.Since she just turned 1 she is at the stage where so many things will be happening such as walking and getting into everything, lol.

Hi Linda...hope you get some time to stop by and let us know how you are doing. Thanks for dropping in and saying hi.

Judy...how many days on Induction does this make for you?

I will send this and come back and welcome sevencars.

Have a nice Friday everyone.

Nancy, I'm sorry to hear that your husband is so picky. My husband had his doubts about the mock mashed potatoes but I put sour cream and chives in mine and he loves them. Use the Dreamfields pasta for the mac and cheese. I bring 1 cup of heavy cream to a simmer in a small sauce pan.Whisk in 3 ounces of cream cheese that is cut into smalll peices.Stir in 1 cup of cheddar cheese just until the cheese melts. Remove from the heat and pour over the pasta. Top with more Cheddar cheese and bake at 375 for about 15 minutes or until it is bubbly hot. You can add more cheese if you like, just remember to add the carbs.I changed this recipe to use Dreamfields instead of Cauliflower so you will need to add all of the carbs to get the net worth per serving. When the dish is made with Cauliflower it is 9.5 carbs per serving. I'm making stuffed zucchini for dinner tonight. It has only 2 net carbs per serving and it's fantastic.
Fauve, I'm sorry your not feeling well. How many carbs are you taking in a day. You may need to up your carbs a little. My daughter-in-law felt really bad for three or four days. Are you using an artificial sweetner ? My friend can't use them because they make her sick. Are you eating enough protein ? Make sure you take a really good daily vitamin. I hope you get to feeling better. Keep us posted.
Welcome Sevencars. You have found one of the best places for support in the world. I look forward to getting to know you.

Hi Sevencars,
Want to welcome you. This is a group of very supportive women.I started this thread about 2 years ago.It has been a great motivator for me and I am so thrilled to see that it keeps going. There was a time when Jess was gone on vacation last year and I was the only one posting. So you can see how thrilled I am to have so many women our age encourage each other as we get healthier.

I am a 55 year old grandmother to two grandchildren. My grandson is 4 1/2 and my granddaughter just turned 1 on Sunday.I stay busy taking care of my granddaughter while her parents(my daughter and son in law) work. She keeps me on my toes that's for sure.We have our grandson in the afternoon after he comes home from preschool.

Don't ever feel bad about writing too much. Please feel free to share whatever is on your mind.If you need any tips or suggestions we can all share what has worked and what hasn't worked for us.

I'll be looking forward to getting to know you.

Much appreciated! I was wondering if I was doing this right or not, since I've posted (I think) 6 times and no one had responded. I have a 36 yr. old married daughter and a 33 yr. old married son who has given me to georgeous, sweet granddaughters. They are both girls, 8 and 5. I remarried 10 years ago after my own kids were already grown, and the man I fell in love with was divorced with two boys, 4 & 6 yrs. old. Can you believe it? I did it all over again...raising kids that is. Well, Dave (my husband) is this great big German descent and eats like a horse. He's 6'4" and weighted 230 when we married. I was (see my Avatar, 45 yrs. old and weighed 125). Since then I have kept up with his lifestyle (we love to eat out) and we have both gained 50-60 lbs. I feel horrible and look awful in my pictures. I feel like it's not even me!! Going through menopause, feeling creaky and getting very sore feet when I walk (I think because of my weight, my little size 6 feet can't take the strain) finally made me decide to lose these pounds. I am thrilled to have found this forum and need ALL the support and encouragement I can get. Again, thanks so much for answering me...
Look forward to reading more and making friends soon!

Hello friends,
Thanks for your words of encouragement!
It is not going well. I weighed this morning and, horror, I've gained weight!!! After eleven days on strict Induction, 5 grams carbs max per day, no cheat, no artificial sweetener, only fresh food, I have put on weight. I am devastated.
And still feeling awful. I would think I have the flu, except I don't run a fever. I am totally puzzled.
It is still raining, and windy, but I went to the store to get some nice organic soup and I got a loaf of organic, ancient grains, bread. I know, I know, first cheat, probably won't solve anything. I am hoping that the very high fiber content will balance out the carbs. I had two slices for lunch with the nice hot soup, and I am going for a nap now.
Nancy, yeah, I miss my granddaughter in a way; though I would not want to have her here today, I have no energy for her incessant chatting, lol! And I'll see her next week, so that's good.
Have a great day, you all.

I guess Monday morning will tell the tale. Hopefully next week will be less hectic. Good Morning Ladies,
Have some free time to chat this morning.

Our son in law's grandfather passed away yesterday so he will be home till Friday.Today is election day in Virginia so the school system is closed for the day.We had our grandson spend the night with us.He's still sleeping. Our granddaughter is home with her daddy.Don't know if he has plans for the day or not.Our daughter is at work so we told our son in law to drop our granddaughter by if he wants to spend time with his family.

My weight is going down but oh so slow. It's so frustrating and I've been sticking to Induction except for one detour on Saturday. We took our grandson to see the movie Chicken Little. My hubby got some popcorn for the two of them to share. It smelled so good so of course I had to have some too.I was doing so well keeping away from temptation too. That was the only thing that I all week that I should not have eaten. So this week I will try even harder and hopefully see some pounds drop off.

I've ridden my stationary bike 3 days in a row now and want to ride it for 1/2 hour 5 days a week so we will see how that goes.I was hungry this morning and couldn't wait to eat my flaxmeal bread.I still enjoy it every morning along with a cup of hot green tea.

Kerri...so glad to see that you didn't sustain any damage from the hurricane.

Jess...we haven't heard from you in awhile.Hope you are doing OK.

CP...I am still waiting to view your web page and find out what your secret is when the time comes.

Sevencars...how are you doing? Have you been doing your exercise?

Brenda...how are you doing? How was the store opening?

Swivlehips....so sorry to hear that you continue to have problems with your brother.

Fauve...How are you feeling? Hope you are feeling better by now!!

Judy...are you still on Induction? I continue to keep my carbs around 20 so hoping to see some more weight reduction before the new years rolls in.

Bobi...Glad to see that you continue to go down too.Hope you are also feeling better.

Linda...Hope this week is a calmer week for you.How did you do when you weighed yesterday?

If I have forgotten anyone please forgive me.Hope to hear how everyone is doing.Have a nice Tuesday everyone.

Hi everyone,
I am still doing Induction and have been pretty good at keeping carbs between 5 and 10 gms. But I still feel awful, and have not done much exercising, just a bit of walking, and not very fast at that! Went to the doctor today, and she thinks I have candidasis in the digestive system, thus the bloating, blurred vision, and weight gain. I will be on fluconazole for the next week. Hopefully it will help.
I'll keep you posted.
Congrats to all the 'losers'!

Good Morning,
So nice to see all of the posts when I checked in.

My weight continues to go down but it's hard for me to tell how much since I get on the scale too often.I need to put it away for a week so that I can really tell what the scale shows as far as a loss for the week.My clothes are getting looser so that's a good sign.I have a pair of jeans that I can't wear if I gain a few pounds. They are once again fitting good so I know I have lost some inches along with the pounds.I have a good momentum going and want to keep it up.Might just get to Onderland sooner than I thought.I'm not one bit tempted by the things I shouldn't have plus I am getting satisfied by eating plenty of protein. That's what I seem to want any more.

Fauve...so sorry to hear that you still aren't feeling well.I agree with Brenda in that your carb count for the day seems rather low.I keep mine to around 20.I eat plenty of protein then the veggies and salads increase my carb count for the day.Hope the med helps and please continue to let us know how you are doing.

Bobi....Sorry to hear that your cough is bothering you so much.I am also an early riser and get up at 6.Since my son in law's grandfather passed away my son in law has been home which means that I have been able to sleep in a little later this week.I will have my granddaugther tomorrow since it's the day of the funeral.I sure have missed her.

Have a nice Wednesday everyone.

Fauve,
I'm so glad that you are increasing your carbs. If your carbs are too low your metabolism will shut down. Your body can react in alot of different ways. Please let us know what the Doctor finds out. When you increase your protein please increase your water intake as well.
Nancy, I was sorry to hear about your son-in-law's grandfather. I know what you mean about missing the grandchildren. I always look forward to getting a few days to myself but when I do I end up missing the kids. Your doing so good with your weight. I'm really proud of you. I'm holdly where I was. I've been sick since Sunday with a terrible head cold so I haven't been able to exercise this week. I'm feeling better this morning so hopefully I'll get at least three days in this week. I haven't watched my diet for the last couple of days but nothing has tasted good so I'm not worried too much. I'm going to try to get on my treadmill tonight after all of the kids go home.
Bobi I hope you are feeling better today.

Where do the days go? I've been busy and haven't taken the time to stop by like I should.

How is everyone doing? Wish I could say that I have done well but I ate a few things I shouldn't the last few days.Tomorrow I am back on induction.

I get so discourged when I know I am doing everything right and the scale doesn't move. Then I go and eat a few things I shouldn't and the scale starts going up the other way oh too fast.Do any of you do that when you aren't seeing the results you want to see? Just wish I could keep focused and not pay so much attention to the scales.

I managed to ride my stationary bike all five days Monday through Friday so I am happy about that. Now to get my eating under control too.

It's going to be a busy week since our son in law will be working over time which means he won't have a day off during the week.

Hi Nancy--thank you for the kind words, I missed being here also.

Good morning ladies,

Week 46--Nov 6--12, 1 lb lost, now at 196, 2 lbs to go to get to my lowest prior to vacation--hopefully by Christmas --only 6 weeks to go :help:.

Not too much structured exercise this week, did WATP on Mon and Tuesday, only walked a few times this week and didn't keep track. It has snowed every single day, all day and night for about the past 8 or 9 days so I have shovelled snow for 30 minutes every day this week.

I went to my doc last week, everything is fine, blood pressure & pulse normal, weight was 1 lb down from when I was there in early August, I was hoping for more but c'est la vie!, he said I was down 34 lbs from my visit last Nov. He told me to keep working at it (in my mind I'm saying "ya ya ya i know;)) so I've got another 3 months before I go back!
It's been a year since my thyroid and cholesterol was tested so he's sending me to the lab for testing,I will go tomorrow at 7am so I have to start fasting tonight ~7pm and then next weekI'll go into the office and get a copy of my results. I finally got my computer problems resolved, it’s taken a couple of weeks as I started out with trying to get it fixed by myself, then family and friends, it would work for a while then down again, very frustrating loading and reloading information, thank heavens I had put most of my files and documents on back up discs but losing things like your address book is maddening etc etc, finally last week I couldn’t stand it anymore and bit the bullet and bought myself a new computer and operating system. It has taken me time to get everything up and running but I was able to do it all myself and I am very happy with it and starting to get used to the differences between the old and the new.

I’ve caught up on all the posts over the past couple of weeks and I see everyone is working hard on induction, exercising, looking after grandchildren, keeping to their food plans, family interactions and just plain old day to day living.

On Thursday evening my granddaughter and the air and army cadets stood vigil at the city cenotaph from 6pm to 6am in honour of this year being proclaimed the year of the veteran in Canada, they did it in 2 hr shifts and were lucky that the temperature was quite moderate (-10 celsius which is approx 18F) they were taken back to the legion to warm up after each shift. We attended the rememberance day ceremony on Fri. where she also had the honour of standing vigil in shifts throughout the ceremony. Eventhough an honour, it is very difficult to do, 20 – 30 mins at a time absolutely still with your rifle being held on the toe of your boot. Some start to sway or even feel sick after a period of time, everybody made it through this year. This is her last year of cadets as she ages out when she turns 19 in June, she was in army for 2yrs and this is her 5th in air.

Well I’m glad to be back, I am still working on my year long challenge with my sister and brother-in-law in CA. My current goal is 190 but that may take into the new year.

Have a good week
Jes:wave:

Hello ladies,
I just had a rough week; this medication is making me weak, dizzy and extremely tired. I have spent most of the time in bed. Very little exercise, but I kept on track food-wise.
I am not in Induction anymore; I have added yogurt (necessary because of the diflucan) and almond butter to my daily diet; and I have increased the veggies, as per your advise. The daily cals are higher than I would like, but I seem to need more food for the moment; I am hungry. I am not losing weight and this frustrates me. Like you Nancy, I want to eat all kinds of things I am not supposed to. I know it won't help, but I try to convince myself that it will, that my body needs something else, it's not working anyway, etc. Ridiculous!
I'm going to the doctor tomorrow, to get the results of the x-rays on my foot. It hurts more and more, it is very painful to walk on. Wonder what's going on there.
Anyway, I'm done complaining, sorry. It was a gorgeous, sunny day today, sorry Jes... everytime I hear the weather report on Global, I think about you when I see the Yukon, the cold temps and the snow!!! I am so lucky to live here, the warmest place in Canada.
Have a fantastic time

Hello!
Just got back from the doctor; I've got a heel spur and plantar fasciitis. There will be no walking for the next few days, because it just makes it worse and it needs to heal.
I've got an appointment on the 28th to see a specialist and probably get some orthotics to prevent recurrence.
Well, there goes my main exercise. Sure won't help weight loss. Thankfully, there is a pool in the building, I will take up swimming as my main form of exercise for awhile. It will be hard. I don't see myself swim for an hour or two!!! Am just not that good!
Take care you all, have a great day.

Hi Ladies,
It has been a busy two days.Hard to believe that tomorrow will be Wednesday already.

Good news here is that my weight is going back down and at a faster rate than before.I just might make it to Onderland by January 1st if I keep up this pace.I feel so much better seeing the scale go down.Maybe the fact that I have been busier this week with our grandchildren might help too.

Our grandson didn't go to preschool today since he was sick with a stomach bug.He got sick overnight.Don't know if he will go tomorrow or not.My granddaughter gets all over the place by crawling so I am constantly getting her back out of places where she shouldn't be.She keeps me on my toes. That's for sure.

Jes...it was so great hearing from you again.Congratulations on your weight loss. How wonderful that you got a new computer. This evening is our CMA(Country Music Association) Awards show. It's being telecast from New York City instead of Nashville.I'm looking forward to watching it.

Fauve...so sorry to hear that you are having a rough time of it with your meds and now the plantar fasciitis.Exactly what is that and what causes it?Was wondering for furture reference.

Have a nice evening everyone.

Hi Nancy,
Plantar fasciitis is 'the inflammation, fraying and/or tearing of the plantar fascia, a thick fibrous band of tissue that originates from the heel and fans across the bottom of the foot in a V-shape. It's the plantar fascia that maintains the shape of the arch of your foot'.
I probably did that because I increased exercise too rapidly. Sucks.
As for the CMA, Jes and Nancy, I am really not with you on that, aha, I don't care much about country music, I'm afraid.
Sorry.
Wonderful news about your weight loss Nancy; congratulations!
I was just thinking earlier that the Atkins plan does not seem to suit me. I have been on this plan since February and, at the end of 9 months, I have lost absolutely nothing. I am quite discouraged. And not sure what to do next.
There are some positives though: I usually feel good, have more energy than on the low cals plan, and at least I am not gaining weight!!!
Anyway...
Have a great evening.

Fauve I sure know that pain...I have been limping around for 3 weeks now..Can hardly walk and with all the limping I now have the knee hurting..I am a mess.. :o Can not do any exercise and feel fatter then ever..Its so darned depressing.... :tears: :tears:

I had better get off this pitty pot and get my butt in gear..Back to work.

I've heard that treading water is very good exercise, too.

You are right Bobi, thank you for reminding me. I will do that later on when I get down to the pool.

Kerri, you and me both!!! My knees are hurting today too...
I just discovered yesterday that I have osteo-arthritis in both knees, and the doctor told me that I should not do squats and plunges, also nothing on my knees, thus no kick backs. That seriously limits the workout I was doing for strength training. I am in trouble!!!

I am still following the Atkins diet for now, though not very convinced that this is the best way for me... we'll see...

Have a great day,

Wanted to stop by for a quick good morning. The stomach virus is making the rounds here.My grandson and granddaughter have both had it and now my hubby has it.

Keeping my fingers crossed that I won't get it.I've stayed on plan really well this week.

Wanted to let y'all know what is going on in case I come down with it and vanish for a few days. It's been quite hectic with the grandchildren being sick.Don't know yet if our grandson will be returning to preschool today or not.

Better get going.Almost time to leave to go to my daughter's.Hubby is staying in bed this morning. He hasn't done that in quite sometime.

Cold here this morning.Hope there isn't a frost on the car.

Have a nice Thursday everyone.

Good Morning,
Nancy, I am glad to hear that the scale is going down and that you are sticking to the plan. Sorry the grandchildren are sick. Everyone here has been passing a bad cold around. I was sick all last week with the darn thing and then I woke up early Monday morning with bad stomach cramps . I was going from both ends all day. I noticed a show of blood in my stool early in the morning and by the afternoon it had turned dark red. My husband took me to the emergency room . To make a long story short I was admitted and just got home late last night. It seems I had a bad bout of colitos. MY Doctot ran all kinds of test and finally he ran the test on my colon. I'm still on antibioticsfor the next five days and light eating. I have no desire to eat at all so light eating sure wont me a problem. We are still going to try to go to Texas this weekend. Doc said I can go as long as I don't overdue. I don't think sitting in a car and at my Mom's is going to over tax me.
Jes, I can't tell you how glad it was to hear from you. Congrats on the new computer. It has gotten chilly here for Arizona but nothing like where you are. I love Country Music but I don't like Johnny Cash. Keep in touch we have all missed you.
Fauve, sorry to hear about your foot. How are you feeling otherwise? Did increasing your carb count help ?
Kerri, I'm sorry to hear about your knees. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
I hope everyone else is doing OK. I know I always miss someone but I'm routing for you all. Have a great week everyone.

Hello my friends!
I am doing a bit better, the pain is not as sharp anymore, but dull. I was in the pool, and in the hot tub!, for about an hour yesterday, swimming and threading water; it felt good.
Brenda, it's hard to say if increasing the carbs has helped really, I had some many things happening all at once (and especially the diflucan), but I do keep the count at around 20 for now, and we'll see what happens when things clear up a bit. Thanks for asking though. Hope you feel better soon.
Nancy, hope your grandkids and hubby recover fast and most of all, hope you don't get it!!!! Take good care of yourself. Maybe take some echinacea. I know it helps me often.
Linda, hope you have great success with WW. In the end, the important thing is to do what works best for yourself, isn't it?
Wishing you all a fantastic day.

Hello ladies,
I have received more bad news from my doctor: mercury level is way up! This is so discouraging. I do eat fish a lot, 4-5 times a week, thought it was good for me, ah!
She wants to do a DMPS challenge. It is quite expensive though, and after looking it over on the web, it scares me a bit. It seems quite drastic. I don't know what to do.
As for my foot, it is doing better as long as I don't walk. As soon as I walk a bit though, it starts hurting again.
I am giving it a rest this weekend. But without exercise, and with the candida and mercury overload, I am retaining water like crazy and gaining weight. I plan to drastically reduce cals in the hope of reversing this trend.
What to do... what to do????
Hope you are all enjoying your weekend,
take care,
d.

Hi Everyone,
Have some quiet time before bed so thought I would check in with all of you.

Glad this past week is over and done with. What a week it was with both grandchildren and hubby not feeling well.I never did come down with that stomach flu.I really think that eating right and taking my vitamins has kept my resistance up.Sure hope I am not speaking too soon though, lol.I didn't do too well with my eating this past week. This week I have decided that I will just watch what I eat and get back to Induction the following week.

Brenda...How are you doing? So sorry to hear that you have been in the hospital.Maybe you are in Texas by now.If we don't hear from you we will know that you made the trip.If you have gone I hope that you have a wonderful time visiting with your parents.

Fauve...so sorry to hear that you continue to have health concerns and now a high mercury level. What exactly is a DMPS challenge? Hope the week ahead is better for you.

Linda...How is WW? Please continue to check in with us.It is a challenge to lose weight no matter what plan we follow.

Kerri..how are you doing? Still enjoying nice weather down your way in Florida? It was down to 9 Friday morning.

Thanksgiving is Thursday here in the US.Our youngest daughter has invited everyone to their home for Thanksgiving this year.We are all pitching in and bringing dishes to add to their turkey. It should be a very nice day with all of us together. Both our daughter's side and her hubby's side of their respective families have been invited.

Will look forward to hearing how everyone is doing.

Good Morning Ldies,
My luck ran out early yesterday morning.I came down with that awful stomach virus that has been going around our family.Hadn't felt that bad in ages.Just ate a scrambled egg and drank some tea.Hope I do OK with that.I am so used to having my flax meal bread every morning but thought it might be a little too heavy for my delicate stomach this morning. Those scrambled eggs sure tasted quite yummy.

What a way to lose weight fast, lol.Glad to get a few pounds off but that is a rough way to do it.I will continue to eat lightly this week since I know that it takes a few days to completely get over it.My hubby was still feeling the after effects a few days later.Hopefully we will all stay well through the end of the year.

Galatia...so nice to have you join us.Please introduce yourself and make yourself at home.I see that you are from Mississippi.Hope your area didn't receive all of that destruction from Katrina.

We have snow in the forecast for the next few days.Hope it doesn't get too bad since we are going to our daughter's for Thanksgiving. They are out of the town limits where they live so that means that their hilly curvy road doesn't get plowed.

Hope everyone is doing well. Will look forward to hearing how everyone is doing.

Nancy, sorry you got sick. I hate stomach viruses. Especially if vomiting is involved. It didn't seem so hard as a child, but throwing up as an adult is just AWFUL!! :( I hope you are back to feeling fine by now.

Galatia...so nice to have you join us.Please introduce yourself and make yourself at home.I see that you are from Mississippi.Hope your area didn't receive all of that destruction from Katrina
Thanks for the welcome. :)
Well, my name is Debbie. I have 4 children 2 are stepsons. All are grown, married and gone except my youngest son. He's in his junior year of college and still comes home on the week-ends and during breaks. We have 3 grandchildren, 2 girls and 1 boy. My first husband was killed in an automobile accident when our children were 2 and 11 years old. I remarried about 3 years later.
I love this time in our lives. I don't work outside the home. My hobby is weight training. I also like doing pastels but haven't done that in so long I hardly feel right claiming it to be a hobby.
We did receive a lot of damage from Katrina. We had 110 mph winds here. Just got our driveway cleared so we could use it last week. We were without power for 3 weeks. We have a lot to be thankful for this year. :)
I'll have to go back and try to find where y'all told about yourselves. :)

hello ladies,
how is everyone doing? hope all in the usa made it throught the thanksgiving holiday without too much damage.
i imagine everyone is starting to think about their upcoming christmas plans, i know i am.
checking through the recent posts i notice quite a few were not feeling well, i hope everyone has recovered and back on track with their particular plans.
for myself i got my flu shot and so far have kept healthy:) i don't know what's with me but i am having a real time with myself getting into the exercise groove, no watp, no biking and only minimal mall walking. the weather here went fron continual snow to above freezing with all the snow melting, then back to freezing and all the roads turning into skating rinks to a more usual -15 celsius which means more normal winter conditions which surprisingly makes it much easier to get around. i have stuck to my basic food plan and remain at the same weight, no loss, but i know i have to exercise if i want lose and get back to keeping track of my intake eventhough i basically eat the same every day somehow if i track it daily along with exercise i seem to do better than when i just go day to day without keeping any records-weird i know but it seems to make a difference for me when i see it in print. well it seems i am starting to ramble so i will sign off and say welcome to debbie the newest lady here, have a great week everyone

Hi Ladies,
Hope everyone is doing well. Not many posts since I last wrote.

I have gotten back on track and thankfully I am back to where I was before I got sick. Most of my gain must have been water weight since it came off rather easily.

I've been going through an emotional turmoil since Monday. Our daughter and son in law are having marital problems and it looks like a divorce will be the end result. This has really bothered me but thankfully my eating has not suffered and I've been able to keep focused.
I just hate to think of what this is going to do to our grandchildren who are only 4 and 1.We will continue to watch them during the week so we will have close daily contact with them.

Hope others will check in and let us know how they are doing.

Debbie,
I will save you sometime and give you some background info on me.
I am a 55 year old grandmother.I keep busy during the week watching our two grandchildren ages 4 and 1.Our 4 year old grandson attends preschool all 5 days so we only have him a few hours after school.

We have two daughters ages 29 and 28.My hubby is a disabled Viet Nam veteran. We have 3 cats and 1 dog.

I've been low carbing for almost 3 years now.My weight loss has been staying within the 30-40 pound weight loss range.Hopefully next year I will be in Onderland and continue to have my weight go down.I've been up and down all year long.

What kind of weight training do you do? I was doing some strength training with weights earlier this year but it seemed to stall me.I stopped doing it until I get into Onderland then start back with the strength training.

Do you have any strength training advice for those of us in our 50's and older. What would you recommend?

Hi Nancy,
It's been awhile since I last posted. Two weeks before Thanksgiving the grandchildren shared their nasty colds with me so I was down a week with that. The following week I spent in the hospital with my colon. Two days after I got out of the hospital we drove to Texas for Thanksgiving. I don't go home but once everY 10 years or so because my Mom isn't the nicest person to be around. Example: My older brother called and asked how I looked since we haven't seen each other in over 15 years. My Mom's answer was : Don't ask because I'll get in trouble for telling you how big she is. I wear a size 12 and she still tells everyone how fat I am. She is always negitive and never has a kind word to say about anyone. She's my Mom I love her but I don't like her worth a damn. We left three days earlier than we were suppose to because I couldn't stand it any longer. I can't believe I gave up Thanksgiving with my kids and grandkids to go there. I did get to see my older sister and brother so I guess it was worth the trip. I'm still eating light because of my colon and I haven't been able to exercise in three weeks. I watched three of the grandkids today for the first time in a month. Lord, it wore me out. Thank goodness it's just me and Jewels tomorrow. I've een sewing for the grandkids Christmas and I still have tons to go. I have got to get busy and get some shopping done this weekend. Nancy, I'm sorry to hear about your daughter and son-in-law. Our oldest daughter and her husband have been having trouble for some time now. To be honest it's my daughter's fault. My son-in-law just can't do anything right for very long. He is a great guand we all feel sorry for him . I finally told her the other day to get her head out of her butt and start acting her age. Needless to say I'm not her favorite person right now. I hope everyone is doing good and sticking to their plan. I hope every had a great Thanksgiving and I wish all of you and yours a Merry Christmas. Got to run for now. I check in tomorrow.

good morning gyp

welcome to this thread. i see by your profile you have lost 15 lbs in approx the 6 wks since you joined this forum, that is fantastic.
as for losing 10 lbs in 2 weeks, it is hard to say if that's possible especially for us women over 50 as we seem to lose at a slower pace. It is difficult to advise you as to what might work for you when it seems you haven't chosen a specific plan to follow and they are all slightly different, however the basic advise no matter what plan you are on is to follow the "induction or phase 1" to the letter in order to reduce any cravings and clear your system of the sugar and other toxins. once you have done that you can usually tweak most plans a bit to suit your own particular lifestyle, how much you tweak depends on the number of pounds you want to lose and at what rate, other than that there are no "tricks" that i know of to make low carbing work. this is my own advice to you based on my 6 yrs as an LC'er. your own observation of "putting your nose in the book" is a very good one and the best thing you can do for yourself as you start this journey. please do not think you have "bothered" anyone here on this thread, we are here to help each other however and whenever we can but we are not always here everyday so please stay with us and we'll work our way through the holidays and into the new year.
everyone is here to support each other as much as we can

Hi Ladies,
haven't felt up to writing with all of the stress with my daughter and what is going on with her marriage.

Our daughter is getting medical help for which I am grateful. She has been diagnosed with depression and insomnia and will be off from work for another week.Hopefully with the help of her doctor and medication she will be seeing a big improvement in her moods soon.

I continue to stay on track and my weight is staying the same so at least I am holding steady and not gaining.

I'd like to welcome the new ladies.Sorry that I haven't been around much.I started this thread about 2 1/2 years ago and I'm so thrilled to see how well it continues. My main focus right not is getting my daughter back to her old self and being there for her and our grandchildren who are 4 1/2 and 1.

So, I'm just a bit more vigilent....taking my time to make good choices...healthy ones. I think this support system is so important. We'll all help each other make it....

Hi Nancy...

I congratulate you on writing when you haven't felt like it!!! Good for you!!! That's all part of taking care of yourself. What good are we to others if we don't take care of ourselves?

I'm a praying woman myself....with your permission, I will pray for your daughter...and for your family for strength. Would it be all right to let me know her first name? In my experience, it helps me if I keep writing....whether I feel like it or not. For me, it's the time when I feel least like sharing, that's when I need it most. Support from others are important at this time....we're here for you...if for nothing else, a sounding block....

Love you, dear ~~~~Janet

Good Morning Ladies,
I hope everyone had a great week. December is so busy for our family not only with Chistmas but with all of the Birthdays. One of our grandaughters turned 7 yesterday and we are all getting together for a party today. My husbands birthday is on the 29th which always makes it hard to buy for him with it being right after Christmas. We are almost finished with our Christmas shopping. We will have 6 of our 13 grandchildren here for Christmas so we will have a house full. This is my favorite time of year with all of the children running around all excited. Im still having a few health issues but I'm getting better. Nancy, I will pray for your daughter and her family. The good Lord never gives us more than we can bear. This is the time of year when everyone gets sick and we have had our share. My daughter-in-law came down with strip throat and the next day my daughter came down with it. Our youngest grandson has a double ear infection and two of the grandaughters were sick with a stomach bug last week. Everyone seems to be better now so hopefully they will all stay that way for Christmas. Welcome to all of the new ladies. You will love this site. Got to run for now. Take care and have a great weekend.

Hi Everyone,
Checking in to see how everyone is doing.

I continue to stay the same. Will focus more on losing weight once the new year rolls around.Things should be a little more settled by then.

Our daughter went for an MRI today but they couldn't do it because of her braces so she is suppose to go back on Tuesday and they will try something else.

Janet...Thank you so much for your kind words. My daughter's name is Kimberly.I appreciate your prayers for her and our family as we all work through this.Hopefully their marriage will be saved. They are all still together under the same roof so hopefully that is a good sign.Where do you live? We are in the southern part of West Virginia in the mountains. We hae had snow off and on all week and it's snowing again today. It looks pretty but so far only have a dusting on the ground.Yesterday it warmed up into the 40's which melted most of the snow and ice.

Brenda....you sound so busy. How was the opening of the toy store? Sorry to hear that strep throat and the stomach bug have been going around.Hope you continue to check in with us.All of you mean alot to me as we have discussed our ups and downs of losing weight over the years.

Bobi...thanks so much for your words of encouragment. They mean alot to me.

I know that there is another message on the next page but if I go to it I will lose what I have written.I will send this and come back with another message.

Mary,
I knew that there was a message from you on this page but I didn't want to respond till I read it again.

So sorry to hear that you have been in the hospital.Hope you are feeling better. That has to be so hard to have a new car sitting there and not being able to drive it.Rest and take it easy for the next 6 weeks.

Please continue to check in and let us know how you are doing.

Nancy,
I am very sorry to hear about your daughter and her husband, it is very sad especially with two small children. I hope your daughter can get her medical problems treated. I know this must be a very trying time for you as well. Congratulations to you for staying on track during all the turmoil.

Brenda,
It sounds like will have a very busy time this month with all the shopping and preparation for Christmas with your grandchildren. Hoping your health issues continue to improve.

Hi to Kerri, Janet, Bopi, and everyone else here, hope you are all doing well.
For myself, another with week with no loss however I can’t expect to lose when I don’t exercise regularly. I have kept to my food plan without any problems but I am letting everything else come before exercise, shopping, Christmas preparations etc. I just feel right now I will continue to eat properly and in the new year set up my exercise routine.

Have a good week everyone

 Good morning Ladies!

Well, I stepped on the scale and found that I have lost 6 pounds!!!!! :agree: It hasn't been as hard as I thought it might be. I even went to our church Women's Christmas Party this past Monday. Everyone was supposed to bring assigned things....nothing that I could eat. They eat so differently here in the mid-west. So I ate before I left, asked the hostess if I could help serve and clean up (which she accepted with a big smile) and I had a great time. Another lady asked if she and her daughter could help do the dishes and give me a break....I smiled and accepted....because by that time dessert was finished and they were all gathering in the living room. I didn't feel deprived at all because I asked myself what I could bring to this party (aside from a Christmas gift) and took good care of myself by eating a very nice meal beforehand. I can tell the craving for sugar/bad carbs have subsided a great deal....I was able to bring a "goodie" plate home for my husband and I didn't even want to eat anything before I got home. Some has still been here in the kitchen, but doesn't interest me.

This has been a great "gift" for me! May all of you receive many such "gifts" this Christmas/New Year season!!!!!!!! :agree:

Stay snuggley today....and take good care of yourself `Janet

Hi Ladies,
I haven't felt up to posting because of all of the stress concerning our daughter and her family. For the time being(and hopefully the forseeable furture) things have settled down. Our daughter and her hubby seem to be working things out. That's the way it looks since the two of them went out to eat and Christmas shopping while we watched our two grandchildren.

I have gone down about two pounds.I really don't have the desire to over eat.I was afraid that I would over eat due to the stress but so far I haven't.I made a coffee cake this week for my hubby to enjoy.I ate one small piece. To be honest with you I would rather have my flaxmeal bread instead of something sweet in the mornings. My tastes have changed since starting to low carb 3 years ago.I'd rather have the savory and protein and not the sweets. The flaxmeal bread every morning for breakfast is so satisfying for me.I enjoy it with a cup of hot green tea.

Jeanne...Congratulations on losing 6 pounds.That is fantastic.

Janet...Congratulations to you also for losing 6 pounds. You did fantastic at the Women's Christmas party.

My goal of getting to Onderland won't be met but I plan on going on Induction after the first of the year and then Onderland won't be too far behind.

How is everyone doing?

to all of you, ladies!
I am leaving in a few minutes for the mountains, where I will spend the holidays with my daughters and granddaughter.
I have been quite sick this last month with mercury poisoning.
No exercising whatsoever, and the weight is going up, of course.
Will take care of it in the new year, as usual, lol...
For now, I am just thinking about having fun with the family.
Hope you all have a great time.
Talk to you soon,

Good Mornings Ladies,
Life has been very hectic for the last couple of weeks. Shopping is all done and ready for the big day. All of the grandkids are really excited. Hubby and I are taking the 3 year old to see Santa this Saturday. She is refusung to let her Mom and Dad take her. She informed her parents that since Papa was old he knew Santa alot better than they did. Naturally her Papa told her she was absolutely right. We adopted a family for Christmas. My husband's ROTC cadets raised $1000 for the family and our daughter donated toys for each of the kids from their toy store. My husband and I bought over $400 of groceries for the family and gifts as well for the kids. The cadets delivered everything yesterday and the children were thrilled. They are such wonderful people and they are really having a hard time. We are going to take our 7 year old and our 5 year old grandchildren to the shelter over the Holidays to help feed the homeless. Our family has more than we need and we want to make sure that the grandkids know that there are people that don't. I 've got to run for now, I have 5 of the grandchildren today so everyone can help out at the store I hope everyone has a great Holiday and a Happy New Year.

Hello to all my TOFF friends!

It's been over 2 weeks now.....whew! Love the extra pounds off...my pants are fitting much better.

I loved your message, Brenda. This will be the first Christmas that my husband and I aren't with our Grandchildren. It's also my first Christmas without my mother. She went to be with Jesus last March 22....she was 93! So it's been a rather emotional time for us both. What a joy it was to read about the love you and your whole family are pouring out this Christmas.

Started exercising with a friend yesterday (at the gym). I know this will be a welcome addition to my journey to wellness....especially since I'm a walker and walking out in 25 degree weather...frost all over...doesn't appeal to me, this will get me out of the "house" (we livein a 30' 5th wheel. When we get cabin fever.....we REALLY get a fever!!!!!!!!

My prayer is that you all have a happy, safe and healthy holiday!

Much love~~~~~Janet

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Hi Nancy
great to see you here with your resolutions for the new year, i wish you great success.
here are mine, a little lengthy but i need to do it this way, i plan to report my results here weekly.
lets all get together and encourage and support each other:help:

On this my 6th anniversary of Low Carb, started Jan 2000 doing CALP, switched to Atkins in 2002 then a year later found a plan I can live with in Protein Power. Now I am

LOOKING FOR A FIX IN 2006 to get me to my goal!

First is a reminder from Dr Phil

“A year is going to pass anyway, so I can choose to improve or not.”

For me that means I need to determine a goal and draw up a plan to reach it.

Reflecting on 2005, I started in Jan at 228 and by the 1st week in Dec I was at 196, 32 lbs lost which included a gain during a 5wk vacation at the end of summer, which I was able to lose once I got home. Now I have gained 10lbs over the past 3 weeks leading up to today, now at 206. It started off with a couple of xmas parties that I included alcohol (wine and spirits) which led to poor food choices, no exercise etc etc. I know I absolutely have to stay away from alcohol if I want to stay on plan and lose weight however I continued to partake through the holidays and so here I am today full of resolutions and determination.

RESOLUTIONS FOR 2006 52 weeks to a healthier me.

WEIGHT

Current 206 lbs

Goal 170lbs (Changed from 180 last year)

Mini-goals 3lbs monthly or .75 lbs per week.

EXERCISE

Mon thru Sat

Aerobics—Walk Away The Pounds 1 (WATP1) = 20 mins and 1 mile, over time increasing to WATP2=30 mins and 2 miles then WATP3=45 mins and 3 miles.

Stationary bike-at least 10 mins a day to start

Swimming-30 mins

Walking-at least 30 mins at a rate of .05 of a mile per min

Mall walking-pushing shopping cart at a rate of .04 of a mile per min of actual walking time (not stopping or waiting in line)

FOOD PLAN—PROTEIN POWER

Calories-1200 (changed from 1200-1500)

Fat—60-70%

Protein-25-30%

Carbs—5%

Fiber—5g

Water—4-5 liters (135oz-170oz)

*Daily--Take all medication and supplements. Drink all water, no alcohol, reduce diet pop . Record weight. Input food into Fitday. Input exercise times and miles into program.

*Weekly—Calculate weight, food and water averages. Compare weight to previous week. Total exercise times and miles.

*Monthly—Take measurements and enter on spreadsheet. Compare to previous month.

By putting the above into effect starting Jan 3 (family is still on holiday Jan2) and reporting on results here on Sundays I hope I will be well on my way to reaching my goals for the year.

I am finally back in gear here. My goals for the year are mainly to take my supplements as scheduled, exercise 20-30 min 6 x week, drink 100 oz water a day, and not let myself get derailed on my diet this year. And I would like to keep off whatever weight I lose. I'm tired of losing the same pounds over and over again.

Saw a program by Dr. Perricone on PBS yesterday and going to incorporate some of the supplements he recommends that I'm not already taking.

Hi everyone I'm back. And guess what? This is the year I turn 50. Got 11 months to go though.

I started induction yesterday. Stuck with it, but didn't drink my 100 oz of water at all.

good luck to everyone in the new year. I know I am going to lose 50 pounds this year in honor of my 50th year of life.

Hi Jes,JAnn and Cheryl,
Sure is nice to see the three of you posting here.Seems like everyone is motivated and want to make this new year a healthy one.

I've done really well the first two days of the new year.I have eaten low carb and today I did my strength training.Boy was it hard to get that in after not doing it for a few months.I use 5 pound weights and they felt quite heavy.I know it will get easier as I continue on with my strength training.I need to take my measurements tomorrow so I will have that to track how I am doing with both losing weight and exercising.

I am back to drinking at least 100 ounces of water a day. That has been an adjustment for me since for the last month or so I had been doing good to drink at least 40 ounces of water.

This month marks my third year of low carbing.I know that I am much healthier since I started low carbing.I have managed to keep off 28 of the 42 pounds that I had lost at my lowest since low carbing.

Hope others will check in with us.I will be looking forward to cheering everyone on.Hope that we all have a very successful year at getting healthier.

Hi all, I haven't been around for a while, since last March, but I turned 50 in July so now I qualify to hang out with you gals. lol I just started back up today. I've been doing LC on and off  for a couple of years. Today I started induction, and since it quit raining, I took the dogs for a nice 30 walk. I plan on walking every day for at least 30 minutes, and then adding in some weights in the near future. I got a lot of encourgement last time on here and it looks like everything is still going strong.

I guess I've got to change my stats... :( They look so good though. :( - OK changed them. :)

Hello ladies,
I too am back, and like Cheryl, I plan to lose 50 lbs this year.
No more procrastination.
I am joining Curves, this will take care of the weight training three times a week. On the other days, I will do the one-mile watp and some yoga. I cannot do much walking yet, as my foot is still very weak and gets sore whenever I walk more than a few minutes, so I have to be careful.
I did not gain any weight during the holidays, and for that, I am grateful!!!
I am starting back on Induction tomorrow.
Together we can do it. I need your support.

Hi Girls,
We returned from Holidays Dec 30. The waist of everything I took to wear was too tight.
I ate way to much for 2 weeks. I expected a huge gain...........as I felt like a stuffed Pork.
I was surprised that I had only gained 5 lbs. It was "what I ate" that made me feel so "stuffed".
I will begin again with "INDUCTION" on Jan 4 '06. I will get rid of at least 30 lbs this year.
I will walk moderately for 30 minutes 6 days of the week.

I will turn 61 on Jan 6 of this year. I want to be leaner by the time I am 62.

I like reading the new resolves. I make a new resolve every year......I am happy to have others working towards the same healthy goals.

HAPPY NEW YEAR..............EVERYONE :dazzle:

Hi Ladies,
It has been a good week for me back on Induction.I'm seeing the scales go down. What a thrill that is after seeing the scales go up over the holidays.

Today was my second day of strength training.I believe it seemed harder today than it did on Monday.Hate the fact that a few months ago I was doing the strength training without any problems and felt good doing it.Now I am really having to work hard at doing it.

What a roller coaster ride of emotions last night when I was watching the rescue of the coal miners. The mine is located about 200 miles north of us.I stayed up till 2 AM watching the coverage on TV.What rejoycing when it was announced that 12 coal miners were alive.I turned the TV off at 2 AM.I couldn't believe the news this morning that only 1 coal miner survived in the mine.

Hope everyone is having a good week.Saturday is the day I use for my weekly weigh ins.Looks like I will be happy with how well I have done this week.

How is everyone doing? It's been quiet on here.I don't see any more posts since I last wrote on Wednesday.

I've done really well on Induction this week.I have always used Saturday mornings as my official weigh in morning for the week.Since last Sunday I am down 5 pounds.I am so happy to see those results my first week.It might have been even lower but I ate the toppings off of pizza last night and you know what that does with all of the salt.

I might not be on here much this coming week. Our daughter doesn't seem to be getting any better. She was having a hard time getting our grandson up for preschool. We have decided to bring him to our house to stay till she gets better. We will be getting him to preschool during the week.We just don't want to have him miss many days.He needs to be with the other children. We might have to end up bringing our 1 year old granddaughter here to stay too.Our daughter doesn't seem to have to the strength or energy to care for her.

Our daughter has more testing and 2 doctor's appointments this week so hopefully we will know more about the causes for all of this.

Hi Nancy,
Glad that you got through New Year's with a 5 lb. loss. That's terrific. And the salt from the pizza toppings will be gone within a day anyway. I hope you enjoyed eating them without guilt.

Jes, I started taking glutamine, which reduces sugar cravings but that is not what started me on it. Three years ago I came down with a case of shingles and felt like I never got over it. My energy just never came back. So when I read that the body couldn't make enough glutamine when under stress (and boy, was I stressed--but that's another story!) or sick (and was I ever sick!) I decided to start taking some. Has it ever made a difference! Most days I feel so peppy that I hardly recognized my self!

I also take carnitine, lots of B vitamins, lecithin,DHEA, Co-Q10, a multiple, EFAs, chromium, OoO, and a general amino acid complex.

It's a mouthful but if I forget to take them I notice a lack of energy the next day or two. If I can figure out what I seem to be deficient in maybe I can reduce some of the supplements. However, at my age (59) the DHEA, Co-Q10, and B vitamins will definitely stay. Because of hypoglycemia I also need to stay on the chromium.

Hello ladies,
First of all, Nancy, I want to say how sorry I am that your daughter is so sick. What a worry for you! I must have missed some posts, when did it all start? What are her symptoms? Is it related to depression because of her marriage troubles?
Jes, I am doing better, thank you for asking.
I am still on a chelation program for the mercury, and my foot still bothers me when I do too much, but all in all, I am making progress!
I have been doing induction for the last few days and I have been exercising at Curves (on a one-month trial membership), I feel strong but no weight loss yet.
I am not sure that circuit training is the best option for me right now, there are so many machines that I should not do, squats and lunges are bad for my arthritic knees.
I will do one more week, then re=evaluate.
I need to find an efficient exercise program; the goal is to lose 50 lbs this year!
Have a fantastic week everyone!

Good Morning,
Thought I would stop by for a quick hello.I use Saturday mornings as my official weigh in time for the week.I am down 2 pounds. Was hoping for more since I tried my best to stay on plan but I think that the stress running through my body is keeping hold of my weight.

What a stressful week it has been and it continues on.Our daughter is still quite sick. She had more testing done at the hospital on Monday then went back to her primary doctor on Tuesday. To make a long story short they have found ovarian cysts on both her right and left ovaries. The one on her right ovary is very suspicious. Her primary care doctor set up an appointment for our daughter to see her GYN but couldn't get her in till the 25th.The GYN will more than likely do exploratory surgery.

Yesterday morning our daughter ended up in the ER with severe pain and running a fever. They ran some blood work and weren't sure if it is appendicitis or the cyst on her ovary. They gave her a shot for the pain and fever and released her. She's suppose to return to the ER this morning to have the blood work repeated. We watch the grandchildren while her husband takes her to the ER.It was a very stressful day not knowing what was going on.I'm the type that likes to be at the hospital and in the know.I know we are needed with the grandchildren but wish I could be at the hospital too.

That's how things stand now.Don't know if we will know any more today after this trip back to the ER.

Please forgive me for not checking in like I should.I have had my hands full this week.

Please check in and let us know how everyone is doing.I try to read the messages even if I don't have the time to respond the way I would like. Thanks for keeping this thread active.

Well done Jes!
I notice that your cal. intake is way lower than mine.
I read the Omnivore Newsletter yesterday, and it reminded me that calories do count. I seem to have forgotten this as of late. I read things like
*the more fat you eat, the fastest you lose*, and I keep increasing the fat, forgetting that it means *within the confine of my daily caloric allotment*. I read that coconut oil is the best for my thyroid, and I add another tbsp or two to my regular fat intake, instead of replacing some fat with coconut oil.
Do you see what I am doing?

I was surprised to read that he also recommends to
*Eat your largest meal in the evening, and consume little to no carb during the day*.
I am going to do this for a while and see how it works for me.

As for the exercise, I am still going 3 times a week to Curves, but this is my last free week, and I am not sure yet if I will join. The program is good, and I feel toned and energetic, but my knees are hurting more, which makes me think that I am doing something that I should not?

Nancy, I hope your daughter gets a diagnosis soon, and that it is a good one. Take care of yourself.

Well ladies, that's all for today.
Have a fantastic day,
Danielle

Good Morning,
I have a few spare minutes to write. We have had a little snow so our grandson's school system is on a 2 hour delay opening.Wish they would have announced it earlier then I could have stayed in bed longer.

Still no diagnosis for our daughter. She will see her GYN a week from today. She seems to be hanging in and taking it easy.I've been watching our 14 month old granddaughter during the day till her daddy gets home from work. Our daughter doesn't have the energy to run after an active 14 month old.

My weight isn't coming off this week as I would like.I am down 7 pounds since the beginning of the month.I am able to once again wear a pair of jeans that I couldn't wear last month since I had indulged in too many goodies.I had been reluctant to try these jeans on but decided to take the plunge this morning.I was so thrilled to be able to wear them once again.

Time to get our grandson up so I better get going. Will write as I have the time.

Hi Again.School ended up being cancelled.I don't have my granddaughter today since our son in law has the day off.

I'd like to welcome Dinah B.It's always nice to have new ladies come and join us.Please make yourself at home. What do you teach? I've been on Atkins for 3 years now.I consider it to be my way of eating and not a diet.I've lost about 35 pounds.Wish it would have been more by now.I have done well since the beginning of the month so I am hoping to keep up this momentum and not get side tracked.

Danielle....Are your knees taking a pounding at CURVES? I believe I was reading somewhere about a woman going to CURVES and her knees bothering her do to the lunges she was doing.I know that my knees can't take alot of pounding or anything like lunges.I used to enjoy doing the WATP routines but it was just too much pounding for my right knee. What are the different routines that you do at CURVES? Since I am not familiar with CURVES I am just trying to figure out what might be bothering your knees.

Jes...Congratulations on your nice weight loss so far this month. How is the weather up your way? I got back on my stationary bike the other evening plus I get plenty of exercise keeping up with my very active 14 month old granddaughter.

How is everyone else doing? This week isn't as hectic as last week. It's nice to be at home more this week.

Nancy,
I have recently been diagnosed with light osteoarthritis in both knees. They usually don't bother me, but since I have started Curves, they do, especially after the exercising. So I must deduct that Curves is the culprit. I do squats on a machine with weights on my shoulders, and there is another machine that I find hard, where I lift weights with my legs. I was there this morning again, and it definitely bothered me.
I think I will get a Joyce Vedral DVD instead, maybe the bone building workout. Going to Curves was definitely good for me, I can feel that my muscles are stronger. I plan to keep working out, but something a bit safer for my knees. Joyce Vedral has different options for those who should not do lunges and squats.

Nancy, you have lost 7 lbs this month, wow, this is fantastic!
Especially with all the stress you are going thru right now.
Keep it up!
And I keep my fingers crossed for your daughter.

Hi Dinah!
Welcome to our group!

I am 58 and I have 2 daughters (who I basically raised alone) and a 5 year old granddaughter. Hoping for more grandkids, but my daughters are a bit slow in that department!

I have been on the LC plan for a year now, and the results are not great. I am doing ajustments right now in the hope of getting the weight down.
I am determined that it will work for me too.

Hi Everyone...
Shirl...I'd like to welcome you to our thread.Congratulations on your 5 pound loss.

I am down 1 pound this week. Was hoping for a bigger loss but I will settle for the pound.I'm down 8 pounds for the month so I am excited about that.We are hoping to know more about how our daughter is doing after she sees her GYN on Wednesday. Then again we might not know any more since exploratory surgery might be necessary.

Will let y'all know as soon as we know more.

hello everyone,
i hope everyone's week has started off well. we've had an amazing turn around in the weather here, up to last week the temps have been in the range of -28 to -30c and over the weekend it warmed right up to -2c so around 30 degrees warmer in a few days, its great but i hope we don't pay for it later;)
it is election day here in canada so i hope all canadians get out and vote and we sure don't have an excuse here in the north with the warmed up weather!
nancy-
the fact that you were able to lose another pound is great under the circumstances. i hope you hear good news from your daughter's GYN.

welcome, glad you've joined us. i am 66, w/b 67 in aug., single, 3 children and 2 granddaughters 18 & 15. the 15yr old lives in another part of canada so i don't see her often but the 18yr old has lived practically next door since she was born. i have been a low carber for 6yrs this month. congratulations on your 5lb loss.
dinah-
welcome, good to have you here, how are you doing?
fauve-
danielle, congratulations on your 1yr on LC. i am sure it will work for you by sticking to the plan. how are your knees doing? has your doctor mentioned any exercise for your knees? as you mentioned i have lowered my caloric intake. after this length of time on lc i feel i need to stay within a range of around 1200 (my doctor also recommended it) in order to lose the pounds i still need to. i am also hypothyroid and have started using coconut oil in cooking and protein shakes. i follow protein power and the drs eades say to determine the grams of protein your own particular body needs by working out a formula and to divide your carb allotment between your 3 meals a day. here's hoping you can find some relief for your knees.
jann-
way to go on your 6lbs down for this month so far. thanks for the info on glutamine. i take quite a few supplements too and some prescription medications. i am interested in this so i will be doing some reading on it.

Jes,
This month marks my third year low carbing.Like you mentioned I also believe that I need to lower my caloric intake in order to lose weight.I am not able to lose as fast now as I did when I first started low carbing.I have also heard that as your weight gets lower your caloric intake should be lowered too.The less you weigh the less calories you need daily.

If you don't mind me asking I was wondering how tall you are.I am 5 foot 6 inches tall. You have done so well losing 80 pounds. That is fantastic. Can you share with us some of the things that you are able to do and enjoy now that were impossible for you to do 80 pounds heavier? You are such an inspiration to me:)

I always enjoy reading your insights to losing weight and low carbing.

Good Morning Ladies,
Jes as usual you make us all proud by your progress. It's been awhile since I've joined in but I have been checking in every now and then to see how everyone is doing. I'm back on track with my exercises and my eating. I had gained a few pounds over the Holidays because my doctor wouldn't let me exercise but now that my Doctor has cleared me I have been back on my routine and I feel really good. Glad to hear your weather is getting warmer. It has been cool for us but when you live in the dessert it doesn't take much to feel cold. Keep up the good work Jes and I look forward to talking to you again.
Fauve I'm a member of Curves as well. If your knees are hurting stay away from the machines that put stress on them. I believe that will elimanate four of the machines. If your not sure what is cusing the pain ask one of the ladies that works there. They will be able to help you modify your workout . I had to stay away from the lunges for a short time because I was doing too much too soon. I have arthritis so I have to be careful how low I squat and how many reps I do on some of the machines. Let me know how things go.
Danielle, Welcome to our group. Nancy, Jes, and all of the ladies are great support. It is so wonderful to have people to talk to who are struggling with the same problem . I am from a small town called Iowa Park. It's right outside of Wichita Falls, Texas. We use to go to Dallas on the weekends to party. My best friend lives a few miles outside of Dallas. I'm looking forward to getting to know you.
JAnn , it sounds like you are doing pretty good as well. Watch your calorie intake. I found out the hard way that the older I get the less calories I need. I've heard alot about coconut oil. I think I might try adding some to my diet. Well, I have to run for now. Take care ladies and I hope everyone has a great day.

Good Afternoon Ladies,
I thought that I would have something to report concerning my daughter.I am a little miffed to say the least.
I took our daughter to her GYN appointment this afternoon. We got there and dear daughter went up to the window to check in.The woman proceeded to tell her that the doctor couldn't see her because she owes a balance on her account. We could not believe it.Dear daughter stayed calm and told the woman that she will find another GYN and walked out.I was not too happy.Back a few weeks ago our daughter had the bad pains and ran a fever and ended up in the ER.The ER doctor tried to move the appointment with her GYN up to an earlier date but they wouldn't do it.Our daughter has waited a few weeks for this appointment and to be treated like this is not very professional. Now she needs to find another GYN and wait till she can see the new doctor.

She has decided to see a doctor in our town and not in the town where her GYN was located.I told her if she gets more of those pains and runs another fever to go to the ER here in our town and tell them exactly what has happened. The last time she went to the ER in the neighboring town thinking her GYN would see her in an emergency but she didn't.This GYN is a woman and now I do not regard her very highly.

Sorry to go on like this since it isn't weight related. How would y'all handle a situation like this?

My gosh Nancy, this is unbelievable! Is it even legal to do that? Isn't a doctor required to see a patient, regardless of the status of the bill? I am shocked!
I am not sure of how I would handle a similar situation, but I don't think I would have been able to stay calm! I am downright outraged!
I hope your daughter can find another doctor soon, and get an appointment rapidly.
Keep us posted,
Take care,
Danielle

JAnn
Thu, Jan-26-06, 18:09
I would be outraged, too. Of course I don't have a very high opinion of most doctors since dealing with the doctor treating my son for cancer. Talk about bad bedside manner--he was just plain cruel because I didn't always agree with him. At least he waited to sue us for payment until our son had passed away. What a condolence card!

Needless to say, I am completely outraged with you, Nancy, and I would have done the same thing as your daughter!!!

Bobi-p
Thu, Jan-26-06, 18:24
I am so sorry to hear that, Nancy. That is totally unacceptable for someone who supposedly took the "Hippocratic Oath" You will find a better one, I'm sure, and one that is more interested in your daughter's health than in his bank account!

Fauve
Thu, Jan-26-06, 18:56
Thank you Jes.
I too am hypothyroid, and I have been using coconut oil for a couple of years now. I like it. I don't know that it has helped the thyroid problem though!
Nothing seems to help nowadays, my body seems to be totally out of whack, I don't know why. But I have decided to be patient, to keep living healthy, and to hope for the best.

Thank you Brenda for your advice.
The Curves I go to is a small club, it has only 9 machines. So when I cut 4 of them, it does not leave much of a workout! And for that reason, I have decided on a change of workout.

Tonight, I am going out to dinner with a group of ladies who are members of this forum and who reside in my area. I am so looking forward to meeting them. We are going to a restaurant that offers low carb options of course!
Take care,
Danielle

Good Morning,
I have a few spare moments to check in.We have kept our grandson home from preschool again today since he has a cold. He's still sleeping soundly.

Thanks for all of your concern. It's nice to know that I am not alone in the way I felt regarding my daughter's unprofessional treatment and her now former GYN's office. It was a very humiliating experience. There were only two women in the waiting room when it happened.I am so grateful that the room wasn't full of patients since the turn away due to non payment was done so that the ladies in the small waiting could hear what was being said.

Our daughter was able to get an appointment with another GYN but it won't be till February 8th.She sees her primary care doctor next Wednesday.I'm sure if her primary care doctor sees that she needs to be seen sooner her office will contact the new GYN's office and try to get her seen sooner.

Danielle...how nice that you are able to get together with other forum members. Please tell us all about your gathering.

Better run.My grandson is waking up and needs my attention.

Hi Nancy, I haven't been here for a long time due to a computer crash and ill health again, but have enjoyed reading up on all the past messages lately. I am appalled along with everyone else at the treatment your daughter received and would like to pass along a similar experience of my own. I had been seeing my doctor for at least 20 years and had gotten behind in paying also. His office person did the same thing to me with an office full, humiliating me to no end and I quit him right then. I ran in to him several weeks later outside of his office and he asked why I quit coming. After explaining what happened, he was livid and did not know she was doing that--he promptly went back to his office and fired her and I've been going to him since. So maybe a bee in his bonnet is necessary. Anyhoo, just a thought. Take care--good luck and best prayers for your daughter. Sylvia

Hello ladies!

I had the best time at dinner last Thursday, when I met several forum members who live in Vancouver. We were eight in all.
The food was delicious and the company wonderful.
I had filet mignon and asparagus, and San Pelegrino for drinks.

This was another week of healthy eating but no weight loss, and it is time I do something more efficient. Thus I started yesterday a meat and eggs fast, which I intent to do for a couple of weeks, if I can. Hopeful, this will kick me off the plateau I have been on, like forever!
Wish me luck!

Hello Ladies,
I hope everyone is doing well. I spent some time on Sunday typing up my weekly report of nutrition averages and daily exercise and responding to those who posted through the week. I was just finishing up when the power went out!! I lost everything as I was working in the “reply box” in the forum (I wish it had a “save” feature) I have been caught on other occasions and have to remember when I respond with any more than a couple of lines I need to type it in WORD first then copy and paste. Last week I stayed within food ratios, my calories averaged at 1309, my exercise time was very low as I had an ear infection and didn’t swim or do much walking. The temps were running between
-35 and –40c. all week but I did get the watp1 tapes done each morning. My weight loss was only ˝ lb.
The power outage Sunday afternoon was more serious than first thought, many communities in the Yukon were without power and in many cases without heat as well for times varying from 5-9 hrs. My daughter came over and we played scrabble until it got too cold and the light got dim so we got in the car and drove around until we warmed up and then the store where my granddaughter was working finally let the staff go as they realized the power wouldn’t come on before their actual closing time. We drove around a little longer until we could see the power was coming on downtown, our power was back on when we got home and by that time it had been nearly 6hrs and the house was pretty cold, then it took another hour or so of the furnace pumping continuously to get the house warmed back up. Yesterday I tried to go swimming but the pool was still closed however it was open today so I got my swim in.

Nancy—I am very sorry to hear about the treatment your daughter received at the GYN’s office. It’s hard for me to fathom such an experience, our health system is very different here.
You asked about my height, I am 5ft 5in, just a little shorter than you. As for what are the things I can now do or have done since losing 80lbs when I thought about it I realized there was quite a few. My weight gain started when I got a stasis ulcer on my leg which was very painful and I was on very strong painkillers and no exercise, over a period of 10 yrs I got another stasis ulcer while the first had not healed and had 2 surgeries and 2 skin graftings. By that time I could not walk more than 10 mins and had to use a cane, was off work on medical for lengthy periods of time, ate and put on weight, my back ached all the time and during some of that time I looked after my granddaughter, who was a baby, half time. My last grafting was in 95, it was a success, healing took place, pain left but I still used a cane as now I was up to 280lbs and my weight caused me physical pain, tiredness, no agility, etc. finally I realized I needed to do something about it. The things that I have done and can do since taking some of the weight off are:
Walking without a cane. Can go up and down stairs without a cane. 3yrs ago spent the whole day walking the trails at Yosemite National Park. Try to keep walking part of everyday. Swimming is something I quit doing for a long time because I didn’t want to be seen in a bathing suit, I have gone back to swimming. Flying, I hated it because I had to ask for a seat belt extender, years ago I took a 30 minute flight on a small plane and pretended I had my seat belt on (stupid I know) now its ok cause I don’t need and extender. Theme park rides, couldn’t go on them for years but did it 2yrs ago in Disneyland. For years I couldn’t get down on the floor and if I did sort of slide down I sure couldn’t get back up! Now I can get down and up without too much trouble. A few years back I went camping with my granddaughter and slept in a tent, it had probably been 20yrs since I did that, and then I’ve done it a couple more time since then. I can now climb a ladder to wash my outside windows. I couldn’t go through turnstiles, I couldn’t get in or out of the back seat of 2dr cars and cab drivers would get annoyed with me when I said I had to sit in the front seat. Getting on and off busses was always difficult. Sitting on peoples skimpy little chairs was always scary and most times I would just stand. No way would I ever try clothes on in the store (that was if I could find any that I liked that I thought might fit)
Boy you sure got me on a roll when I started thinking about these things, eventhough I am not at goal yet it certainly makes me realize how far I have come and that I never want to get that bad again. I think I am going to print this out just to help remind me when I think oh just a little of this or that won’t hurt—get my head back on straight.

Brenda—Glad to see you drop by for a visit. Good for you for getting back into your routine. It’s not the easiest thing to get back where you were but as you say , it sure makes you feel good. Take care.

Danielle—I am glad you enjoyed your night out with some of the ladies from this forum. I read some of their reports of the dinner too and like you they all seemed to enjoy. The particular restaurant you went to is not one I am familiar with but the menu sounded very interesting.

Jann, Bopi and Sylvia—hope you are all doing well with your food plans and exercise etc

Have a good week everybody.

Hi everyone, I still here. I just weighed myself for my monthly record and I've lost 5 pounds but that is probably mostly water. I did lose 5 inches so maybe that is a good sign. I need to keep a strict record of my eating to see where I need to improve. I'm sure I've been under 30 grams a day but that doesn't seem to be good enough.

Wishing everyone a successful February.

I've done pretty good the last 2 days except for keeping strict records and the exercise. I need to figure out the carbs and calories in the cereal I made--it's good but I made a large batch and didn't measure the nuts and coconut I added in to give it some texture. Today I'm down 3 pounds and it feels like my bloat is gone. I'm probably be doing yard work today since it is suppose to be so warm and I need to get a start on it so that will probably be my exercise.

Good Evening Ladies,
It has been over a week since I stopped by.Didn't have any news regarding my daughter plus it has been a very busy week with doctor's appointments for our granddaughter, daughter and hubby.Hopefully this week will be a little quieter. Our daughter sees her new GYN on Wednesday so we are hoping to know a little more then.

My weight hasn't been doing too good.I've gone up some and realize why.Today I got back to watching more closely what I eat.Even though my eating wasn't all that great this past week I did get back to riding my stationary bike. That is quite an accoumplishment since I haven't been riding it very faithfully for quite a few months.I am up to riding it for 17 minutes in one sitting now.

Jes....Thank you for sharing with us how your weight loss has changed you.I've lost between 35-40 pounds depending on the day, lol.I know I have experienced quite a few changes.Like you,I would not get on any amusement park rides.Last summer we took our grandson to a childrens' amusement park. The three of us enjoyed riding the childrens' roller coaster over and over.I know that I would not have been able to ride it 3 years ago before I lost this weight.I enjoy getting down on the floor and playing with my grandchildren.I wouldn't have been able to do that 3 years ago either. It is also nice to buy regular size clothes and not go into the plus size department to buy clothes. So glad your power outage didn't last any longer than it did.I had to laugh when you told us about taking the car ride to stay warm.We had to do that several years ago.It was a very cold day and our power went out.We all got in the car and rode around to stay warm.Thankfully the power came back on later that evening and like you,it took a little while for the house to warm back up.

Christie...I'd like to welcome you to our thread.I am the grandmother of two grandchildren ages 1 and 4.Right now our 4 year old grandson is staying with us.Our daughter who is his mommy is going through some medical problems and doesn't have the energy to care for him. She's been on medical leave for 2 months now.Our grandson attends preschool so when we take our grandson over to their house to catch the school bus we bring our one year old granddaughter back home with us.Our daughter is suppose to finally see a GYN this coming Wednesday. There is a mass on her right ovary. All of this has really had me concerned and I have been eating things I shouldn't.Our daughter has also experienced post partum depression and marital problems. The marital problems were her doings. She and her husband seem to be getting along better right now but sometimes I wonder what will happen once our daughter is well and back at work.Time will tell.It is so hard on us when our grown children go through marital and health problems.I see that you experienced that sort of thing when your son went through a divorce. So glad you joined us.Will look forward to getting to know you.My computer time is more limited with our grandson staying with us so I might not be by as often as I would like.

JAnn...Congratulations on your good weight loss.I'll be glad when I can once again say that I am down a few pounds.I got back on Induction today so I am hoping that isn't too far away.

Will let y'all know if we find out anything on Wednesday.Sure will be glad when we have some answers concerning our daughter's health problems.

Okay....I'm back again. Thanks, Nancy, for your message a while back...reaching out to me. Was not ready to reply. Now I am.

I left because: 1. I got very constipated.
2. I couldn't take one more egg for breakfast

The truth: I wasn't willing to just say what was happening to me and ask for help!

So here I am.....Help!!!!!!!!!!! I just had 2 eggs for breakfast and drinking a lot of water. I can't even look past this moment.

Hi, I'm a 57 year old Granny who would like to join you. I've been doing lowcarb for more than three years and have been fairly successful at keeping it off. I have struggled some with Maintenance and still do. I have a problem with bingeing and then I will fast to get it off. I'm trying so hard to break that bad habit because I know its not good for my ageing body. I exercise quite a bit but need to improve on it as well. Just wanted to say hi  and hope I can help some as well as receive help. :agree: Thanks everyone.

Hi Anleigh--love your name--you must be a little bitty thing--I don't think I weighed 103 when I was 10 years old!!! Been struggling for such a long time with this weight--the cancer meds aren't conducive to weight loss, seems I just keep going up and up and up no matter what I do. O well, I'm just hanging in there hoping lc will work. Sylvia

I've been reading the messages I've missed...I even went back and read the last ones I wrote. How I wish I had reached out then than waiting untiil now. Now I have to start at square one again. But you are all still here and that is encouraging. It was also encouraging to read my messages....I was so positive then. So I know I can do this again. But I need your help.....just a few words of encouragement. I just had granola for breakfast...so you can see I've not started yet. Can't seem to grab hold of this train yet. :help: Don't get me wrong...I know that I'm that one that has to do it....you can't do it for me. Just trying not to give up.

A big "hello" to Nancy, Anleigh and Sylvia...and to any "newcomers" who I've missed....any all of the rest of you, too. Thank God we are all in this together....strength in numbers!

Love ya, Janet

Janet, we're here for you. Just let us know what type of help you need.

jesdorka
Wed, Feb-08-06, 12:22
welcome back janet, we will try to help and encourage where we can. since i don't know what the food plan or phases are for "my own plan" maybe you can give us an idea of what your daily carb intake is and what you would eat in a typical day, what your water intake is any exercise etc.
i notice you said you you can't take one more egg for breakfast, none of the low carb plans i'm aware of say you have to have eggs everyday but there are many ways they can be cooked for variety-fried,boiled,scrambled, all kinds of omelets with meat cheese and veggies, you could also have leftover meat and veggies heated in butter which is great, berries in cream, protein shakes plain or with berries, many many recipes on this sight for mock danish, lc muffins, lc cereals. anything can be eaten at breakfast, take a look around the kitchen forum for great ideas.
the other thing was the problem with constipation, there are many threads here dealing with this subject--just type "constipation" in search and you will find more than you ever wanted to know:help::). for myself i buy flax seeds, i use a coffee grinder to grind a small amount at a time, just enough to use up in a few days and sprinkle 1-2 tbsp on my daily salad, works fine and has the good omegas to boot. ground flax must be kept in an airtight container in the fridge otherwise the oils in it will go rancid. flaxseed also makes great hot cereal and muffins and there are lots of other recipes for flax here too.
Lots of water is essential, frankenfoods are not.
you have indicated you haven't read any LC books, it might help you along the way to look into that. good luck in your journey and ask all the questions you want.

My meat and eggs fast lasted for a week, and I ended up losing 5.5 lbs. I am extremely happy about that!
Now, I am back on the Atkins diet, and eating about 10 grms of carbs. I don't want to increase them too fast, I'm afraid I might regain the lost pounds.
Don't have much time to talk now, just wanted to say hello to you all. Nancy, I'm thinking about you and your daughter today, I know you are expecting news today.
Take good care of yourselves,
Danielle

Hi Ladies,
We are getting snow as I write this.Sure does look pretty outside. This will be our biggest snowfall of the season so far.We may get up to 8 inches.Made it nice to fall on a weekend when there is less traffic.

Our daughter saw her new GYN on Wednesday. She really liked him and he was so encouraging to her.He told her that everything looks normal and that he really doesn't think that she has cancer. He seems to think that there may be adhesions or something like that.He has scheduled a laproscopy for the 20th of this month. Now we are back to waiting once again but I am in a better frame of mind about it now.

My weight has stayed the same but I am back to riding my stationary bike.I rode it every day this past week and have worked up to 20 minutes at one sitting. What a struggle to get back up to 30 minutes. It is getting easier the more I ride it.We have all had colds but I'm feeling better.

Danielle...congratulations on your nice weight loss. Thanks for thinking of me and remembering our daughter's appointment on Wednesday.

Janet...Ever since I started making flaxmeal bread last year I haven't had any problems with constipation.I fix it up quickly in the microwave. It's my morning routine and I really like the taste. If you want to know how to make it let me know. The recipe is in our thread but was posted some time last year.

Have a nice weekend everyone.

Here is the flaxmeal bread.I add a touch of water to mine so it won't be dry and increase the cooking time to a little over 2 minutes...2.20 minutes which is easy for me to remember.I also add a dash of cinnamon.
Nancy

Single Serving Flaxseed meal bread

4 Tbs flax meal (1/4 cup..I buy it a our local Kroger grocery store)
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 egg
1 packet splenda, or 1 tsp torani sugar-free syrup, mix it all up and pour mixture into a square (sandwich size) tupperware container, put it in the microwave for two minutes, butter and enjoy!

You can also put icing on it

Mix 1 packet of splenda or sugar-free syrup into cream cheese and frost the flaxseed bread

I use Bob's Red Mill "Whole Gound Flaxseed Meal"

Thank you Jann, Jes and Nancy.
It had been a while since I lost any weight, and it is a real nice change. No more loss for the moment, but I am strictly on plan and thus confident that it will happen again soon.
Nancy, it is great news about your daughter, certainly very encouraging. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I have been popping in but have been just eating every thing there is............
Now I am trying sensible eating.
I want to say hooray to DANIELLE :cheer: for a great loss.

Jes ......you are amazing with lots of determination. I did had an experience the other day that gave me a push to diet again.
I got out of breath climbing a few stairs, and it frightened me a little.

I am glad to hear things are looking up for your daughter Nancy:) .

I personally am having a very difficult time staying on track..........I don't know if it is because of working Nights or the winter????? But I am trying again.

Hello again to all of you - I'm back again.

Just joined the Gym last week and have my last appt tommorrow to learn how to use all the equipment. I have no excuse anymore.

I haven't been here for awhile so I will have to go back & check out the rest of the postings.

Not sure what plan I will be using, but I'm leaning either towards Atkins or G.I.

Will check back later. Have a great day. :)

Hello Jeanne,
Thanks for the cheerleader! You made my day!
I like your name, very french-sounding! Are you French?

This morning, the scale showed a half-pound loss, down to 183.5. This is not exactly the big woosh I was hoping for after no loss for a few days, but heh, I'll take it!
I am on plan today, did my 60 min walk already, and will do the 30min workout in a little while. Things are going smoothly nowadays, for which I am thankful.
Have a fantastic day, ladies!

Hi Ladies,
We finally got our first decent snowfall of this winter season. We are up to 9 inches now and it's still coming down.

I got in some exercise shoveling the snow.I always enjoy shoveling snow but have been disappointed so far this winter since we haven't had enough snow to shovel.

Schools are closed tomorrow so our grandson won't be going to preschool.

Welcome back Jeannne and Mrs Cee.It's so nice to see posts from the two of you.

I'm up later than usual since we don't have to get up so early in the morning. It's nice to have a snow day with schools closed once in awhile.

welcome back mrscee, nice to have you back--good luck on going to the gym and once you've decided on the plan to follow you will be well on your way.

Hello ladies,
I have lost another 1.5 lb, that is 7 lbs since the beginning of the month. The loss is much slower that the first week, but I am eating more cals (around 1000 a day). I have kept the same exercise routine - an hour walk and 30 min workout - and I find that the abs workout especially is very beneficial: I have lost 1.5 inches around my waist! This is truly unbelievable. It is the last place I lose weight usually, so I must credit the workout. I am very pleased with my routine lately; I feel strong and energized. So I will continue on.
Wishing you all a fantastic day.

Hi Ladies,
I have been so busy which doesn't leave much time for visiting in the forum.

Our daughter is hopefully on the road to recovery now.Monday she had the laparoscopy procedure done on an out patient basis.I am so happy to report that the doctor was correct and that it was adhesions that were causing our daughter's pain. The adhesions were cut out and the cysts in her ovaries were popped. We are hoping and praying that this will eliviate the horrible pain that she has been enduring the last few months.

I have been so busy with our grandchildren. Our grandson is still staying with us.Our daughter's doctor wants her to take it easy and stay home on medical leave at least till the middle of March. Our grandson will more than likely continue to stay with us until she returns to work.

My weight is staying the same..up and down the same 3 pounds.Once things settle down for good I will get back to losing weight once again.

We have been having snow off and on for the last week or so.School has been closed this week. They were hoping to reopen schools today but we had more snow over night. We have had both grandchildren with us all day which keeps us on our toes.

I'd like to welcome all of the new ladies.Sorry I am not posting as often as I would like.

Hope everyone is well.

Good Morning Ladies
A couple of days late but here is last weeks report. I hope you are all working your plan and that your plan is working. I was at my doctor's last week for my regular 3 month checkup and he reccommended keeping my calories between 1100-1200. His theory is that it is all about intake! Down only 1/2 lb but that is fine as i don't plan on dropping calories any lower.

Nancy--i am so glad your daughter finally got a doctor that helped her and my best wishes for her recovery. it has certainly been a long haul for all your family and hopefully the next few weeks will bring her good health and strength.
Danielle--congrats on your continuing weight loss!! you are doing great, keep it up.
JAnn--congrats on your 9lb loss, way to go!
JJ Terry--welcome to the group, nice to have you here, i don't use a dance dvd but i do use "walk away the pounds" which is done to music, i mute the music on the dvd and play my own upbeat music to the workout. i am nearly 67 and it is a good workout for me. keep on doing what you are doing.

Good Evening Ladies,
I am back on Induction since yesterday.I am doing really well with it.My eating and lack of exercise was really bad the month of February. It was such a hectic month with our daughter being so sick etc.January was really hectic too.

I decided to get back on Induction March 1st and didn't realize at the time that it was the beginning of Lent. That makes it even more meaningful for me to do it now.

Hope everyone is doing well.Just wanted to stop by and say hi and let y'all know that I am back to low carbing and want to see some good results before Summer arrives. Our daughter continues to do well and is feeling much better. She thinks that she may be returning to work by the middle of the month. She sees two of her doctors next week so she will know what they recommend then.

Hi Ladies,
Wish I could say that I have done well on Induction but I keep straying.I am down 2 pounds since last Wednesday so I am grateful for that.

If it isn't one thing it's another. Now my dad is in the hospital. He has a blood clot on one of his legs.He hasn't felt well all winter and has spent way too much time in bed. That's how the blood clot formed.

Hope his stay in the hospital is short.Since Spring is on the horizon hopefully he will feel more like getting out of bed and moving about once again. He will be turning 80 in May.

Hope everyone is doing well.I feel so bad that I don't get to visit that much. Our grandson is still staying with us and keeps us on our toes.

Hi Nancy,

Sorry to hear about your dad; hope he recovers fast.
It's great that you managed to lose 2 lbs, even though you were not too strict. good for you.

I am presently on a meat and eggs fast, with some cheese thrown in for good balance.. I am doing this again, as I have noticed that as soon as I add veggies and nuts, I stop losing weight. I have lost another lb this week. Obviously for me, it is the only way that works.

I had my granddaughter over the weekend, and we enjoyed our time together tremendously. It is great to see how much she looks forward to these visits!

Enjoy your grandson Nancy, don't worry about not coming here too often... we understand!
Have a fantastic day,
Danielle

Hello Ladies
I don't have time to compile my weekly report--too much other stuff to take care of!!!! I did go swimming everyday last week except for one (it snowed and snowed and snowed some more) got in Leslie (watp1) and walking and pretty good with the daily food however I didn't show any loss for the week so I remain the same at 195 ( 9 down since the new year)
On Thursday I am headed to sunny California, although yesterday's weathercast showed northern Ca to be quite rainy, but it's gotta be better than here, the temperature has dropped again and we're supposed to be -40c tonight and the next few nights!
I will be visiting with my sister and BIL until the week after Easter so I should see some great sunshine in that time.
My best wishes to everyone working on their plan, stay healthy and best wishes.
I probably won't be on the computor while I'm down there so see ya when I get back

Lucky you Jes!!! Enjoy the sun and the warmth, and have a terrific vacation. I wish my sister were living in California! Unfortunately for me, and for her!, she lives in PEI! It's nice to visit in the summer though.
Talk to you soon,

You might hit some bad weather when you first get there but then it should clear up. I know they're forecasting rain and possible snow here this weekend and CA gets it first. But after that it should be great! Enjoy the sunshine--and ocean if you're near it!

Hi Ladies,
Wanted to stop by and say hi and let you know that things are getting more and more stressful here every day.

My dad has now been diagnosed with lung cancer.A spot was found on his lung that wasn't there a few months ago.He will have surgery but will need to go out of the area for it.The hospital where the surgery will be is about 200 miles from us.Not sure when the surgery will be.

He still has the blood clot which is a concern. They have put in a filter to catch the blood clot in cases it dislodges so that it won't go to the lung.

Just wanted to pop in and give y'all an update so that you won't be too concerned if I can't come by too often.

Hello JAnn, hello ladies,
I have now been on the meat and eggs fast for four weeks, and I have lost 3 lbs (just lost another one this morning). I keep doing my usual workout, 30 minutes of total body work every second day, and one hour walk just about every day. Sometimes it rains and I don't feel like going out, and I do the Leslie Sansone dvd, but mostly I walk outside on the seawall.
I feel good, I find that I am calm and relaxed, and I think that it is because of the even blood sugar. Anyway, it is working for me and I am happy about that.
Nancy, hope things are going better for you and your family. How is your father? Has your daughter fully recovered? Your grandkids allright? Please don't forget to take care of yourself, ok?

I went on Stillman for a week--I guess you call it a meat and egg fast. I was so hungry. I lost weight but was always so hungry that I couldn't make myself go back on this week. I thought I would do it Monday, Tues, Thurs, Fri but not this week. It seems that I really can't stray far from Atkins.

Hi Ladies,
It's the beginning of a new month and I am determined to make it a month that I watch what I eat and hopefully get some of the weight off.Didn't do too well in March but now that our weather is warming hopefully it will be easier.

Thanks for asking about my dad.He hasn't had his surgery yet.The doctors want him to become more mobile. He spent way too much time in bed over the winter. He said that the pain in his leg hurt too much to walk.He will go back and see the doctor later this month.Hopefully he will have been more mobile by then and his pulmonary test will show it.

Our daughter is suppose to return to work in a few weeks. She has gotten used to being at home with her daughter that she really isn't looking forward to returning to work.Hard to believe that my granddaughter will be 1 1/2 this month and my grandson will have his 5th birthday on the 27th.

I'll try to do better about checking in.I was so discouraged about gaining a little weight that I didn't even want to come here and post about it.I know that makes matters worse so now I want to be accountable for my actions.I have done much better today and hoepfully I will continue to do better and not give in so easily to the foods I shouldn't eat.

Good Morning Ladies,
Things have been really hectic for our family for the last couple of months so I haven't been able to check in. Nancy, I'm sorry your dad is having a bad time and I will keep him in my prayers. I'm really happy that your daughter is doing so much better. Jes, I have really missed not talking to you but I see you are still a great example for us all. Fauve, JAnn and everyone else I've really enjoyed ready all of the messages you have posted the last couple of months. Everyone sounds like they are working really hard. I would like to welcome all of the new people and I look forward to getting to know you all.
Nancy, the new store opened with a splash. Business was three times what we thought it was going to be. It's turned into quite the family affair. Three of the daughter-in-laws work at the two stores and the girl's are all having a blast being together. I was babysitting for two of the grandaughters and for the last month had the 22 month old grandson too. It proved to be too much for me. The family has been passing a terrible stomach bug around and they finally gave it to me a few weeks ago. My husband didn't come down sick so after a week we thought he was safe. We planned a Bed and Breakfast get away for last week since he was off for spring break. We left for Verde Valley early Tuesday morning. We spent the day shopping in Sadona and did some gambling that night. We called it a early night and by the time we were back in our cottage for an hour Dave was throwing up and had a high fever and chills. He was sick for the rest of our trip. We came home early and for the next couple of day he was in bed. he is doing fine now so we are going to try to reschedule our trip in the next few weeks. My daughter put her 22 month old back in day care so I just have the two grandaughters again. The 5 year old starts school in August so I will just have the one four year old. I have told all of the kids that when she starts school I'm done baby-sitting. Our oldest son told us a few weeks ago that his wife is pregnant again. This will make 14 grandchildren. I'm doing really good with my exercise and diet. Our youngest son is coming home from Germany in June. He has decided to get out of the military. He has gone to Iraq three times and I can't begin to tell you all have happy and relieved I am that he wont be going again. I really look forward to hearing from all of you. I hope everyone has a great day.

Hi Nancy, glad to hear from you. Hey Brenda, nice to see you back!
wow, 14 grandchildren! You are right to set down some rules, or you will never get any time for yourself.
I have but the one, but I had to do the same thing, or I would have ended up raising the little one by myself!
I just had her for five days, she left last night; my daughter wants me to move back to Whistler, and I am thinking about it. How lame is that, lol! I prefer the city life by much, but when the little one tells me 'I miss you Oma', what can I do but hug her and move back in the mountains?
Diet-wise, I am doing famously. I am eating strictly meat and eggs, lots of butter and sometimes a little cheese. I feel terrific and I have incredible energy. I have decided that this is a way of life for me, and totally relaxed with it: no more fitday, no more scale. I know I will reach ideal weight and I let my body decide the length of time it will take. I can't force it to go faster, I am only hurting myself. Relaxing the whole thing has changed my life. I am at peace, and it feels wonderful.
Hope you can all find the way that works for you, because when it happens, it is really wonderful.
Wish you all a fantastic day.

Fauve,
I'm having a hard time right now. I was doing fantastic until I got sick over the Holidays. I'm still exercising 1 1/2 to hours a day. My hot flashes have come back with a vengence and it seems no matter what I do I can't lose weight. You said you were eating meat and eggs. Is it working ? Will you share with me exactly what you do and how long ? I do a Pilate workout three times a week, a Tension cord workout three days a week, and I walk for at least an hour five times a week on my treadmill. Maybe if I give the meat and eggs a try it will get me started losing again. Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi Brenda,
Sorry you are having a hard time. What is your level of carbs right now? I have tried different levels over the months, and I find that zero is working right now. Never can I achieve this level of energy and lack of hunger if I eat carbs, even the smallest amount, even just a bit of lettuce, will give me cravings. It is ridiculous, but it is my reality. And even at this zero carb level, weight loss is excrutiatingly slow! But I am feeling good, and that has to count for something, right.
Have you tried the meat and eggs thing before? It might be worth giving it a try.
You are doing awesome with the exercise! Good for you!

Fauve,
My carb count right now is anywhere from 10 to 20 a day. I've never tried the meat and eggs but I would like to. What do you do ? I'm in the middle of menopause so my weight can change from week to week depending on my hormones. Hopefully things will calm down soon and I can get back on a losing track. What are you eating right now ? Have a good day and thanks for answering me.

Hey, I got on the scale this morning, and I have lost a pound this week! It is a slow process, but at least the weight keeps going down.
Brenda, I eat the same breakfast every day, 2 or 3 large eggs scrambled in coconut oil and I add some unsalted organic butter on top (because of the CLA content!). For lunch, I have a steak quickly fried in coconut oil; I like it rare and I add no salt, but again I put some butter on top of it. For dinner, there is more variety. I can eat 4-6 chicken thighs, with skin on, or a whole cornish hen; sometimes I have shrimps before hand or camembert or brie afterwards;I have ground beef or ground buffalo meat with lots of parmesan or mozarella on top. As you see, lots of fat and lots of calories. I have stopped entering everything in Fitday because I want to relax with my food, it's not about calories but about zero carbs. I figure I eat around 2000 cals a day, and I never gain any weight, it just stays the same for ever, then suddenly I drop a pound. I just love this way of eating. I feel so good.
I think that I am entering menopause also (I am 58), though I am still menstruated about 3-4 times a year. I do have the occasional hot flash, it lasts about a second or two of feeling warmer, than it's gone. No big deal so far. It is strange, my 2 sisters are younger than me and have gone thru menopause a long time ago. They make fun of me, my mom too, she says that it is because I never grew up into adulthood, aha!
Anyway, hope this helps you a bit. I think the idea is to eat what you like, all meats, fowl and fish are ok, eggs are super, lots of butter, the only thing to keep track of is the cheese, because they have some carbs, and also bcs they are binding. If you eat enough fat, there is no constipation. Promise! Also, it's a good idea to forget about salt.
Good luck, Brenda, let me know how you are doing.

Hi Ladies,
Thanks for keeping this thread going.I really do appreciate it.

Think I am back on track again.Winter was so hectic and crazy for me.Things are settling down and I am back on track watching closely what I eat.My daughter should be returning to work in a week or so.I'll be busier then looking after our 18 month old granddaughter plus our grandson who is still staying with us.Next Fall he will be in kindergarten and be gone most of the day.We are keeping him here with us until the pre-school year ends.We don't want to change his routine this late in the school year.

Hard to believe that our granddaughter will be 18 months old in another 9 days and our grandson will be 5 in another 6 days.

I've done really well watching what I eat this week.I am down a few pounds and my jeans are looser which is always a good sign:)

Need to get active on here once again.Keeping in touch with all of you really helps to keep me on track.Sorry I haven't been around as much as I should have been.Life gets in the way.

Will look forward to hearing how everyone is doing.

Hi Nancy,
I'm so glad that things are settling down for you, and that you are back on plan. Congrats on the weight loss.
Yeah, our grandkids are growing up fast, don't they?
My granddaughter will be 6 on May 3, just one year older than your grandson. I have seen her a lot lately, she has been coming to the city for extended stay at my place, and we both love it so much. I am actually thinking about moving back to Whistler to be with her this summer; her parents have not decided yet when they are moving to the city, and I cannot wait anymore for their decision. My daughter is driving me crazy lately with her indecision. I feel that she is not doing as much as she could, career-wise. I try not to interfere, but it is hard not to tell her to smarten up already! So I try to relax and concentrate on the little one instead. It is so much easier to deal with a 5 year old than it is with a 30 year old.
Anyway, keep up the good work, you are doing great!

Hi there everyone
I see it has been awhile since anyone posted here, myself included. Thought I would just pop in and say hi and hope you are all doing ok.
I was visiting in northern California for nearly 6 weeks, that was mid March to May, for the better part of the time I was there it was pouring with rain, flooding, danger of levees breaking, people having to move to higher ground -what a time. Toward the end of my stay on what was a real nice day for an outing I tripped and fell on a cement sidewalk, landed on my knees and head, my brother-in-law had to pull me up, I can just imagine what a sight to see that was;) If I didn't hurt so much I would have had a good laugh! Thank goodness I didn't break any bones or have to go to a hospital. My legs and forehead were sore and swollen and I had to cut back on my walking. I've been home a few weeks now and have started back swimming and walking and using the hot tub swirlpool which is the greatest for the old joints.
I did gain 6lbs while I was away and lost 4 so far. 2lbs to get back to what is posted.
So Nancy, Brenda, Danielle, Twillie and all others that drop by here, hope to see you soon.

Hi Jes, I'm still hanging around. I love California but I don't think I would like to take a "trip" like you did. Hope you feel better fast. DH and I went through northern CA last October on our way to Oregon. It was beautiful, no rain or anything, a little cool but wonderful.

Hi ladies!
So nice to hear from you, Jes, hope you are recovering fast from your trip! Too bad about the rain, and your fall; I hope you had some good times too.
I have been away myself. My daughter has been in Italy for the last two weeks, and I have been taking care of my granddaughter. I was in the mountains for a while, then came back in the city with her last Friday. She keeps me busy, but it is so much fun. My daughter comes back home today, and we will be at the airport this evening, so excited to see her back.
Diet-wise, I am doing well, totally on plan except for the occasional glass of wine. I have lost 1.5 lbs in the last two weeks, and I am really pleased with that. I need to increase the official exercise though, impossible to do when the little one is here. I do get a lot of running around, but still, it's not the same as walking at a very fast pace and doing weight training.
Anyway, gotta go, we are leaving for the pool now.
Talk to you soon. Have a fantastic day.

Hi JAnn, good to see you here, Arizona is somewhere I've never visited although I know many people from here that spend every winter there.
How are doing on your LC journey, still working on some of the challenges on the board.

Hi Danielle, congratulations on your 1.5lb loss. It's nice you've been able to spend time with your granddaughter eventhough they keep you busy, enjoy, they grow up so fast. Mine is 19 today, the age of majority here in the Yukon, she is so busy with job, friends, extra curricular activities etc. before you know it they aren't around everyday.

Hi, Jes and Danielle.

Yes we have quite a few of "snowbirds" in the winter. I still miss the north, mostly in the summer though. Today started out cloudy with some sprinkles. It really made me homesick for a cooler climate.

I'm hoping that next summer DH and I can take our SIL and GKs up to Ketchikan, Alaska and show them around and see old friends that we haven't seen in years. I'm also hoping that we can also stop briefly in BC on the way--that is if we don't the the AK ferry up.

I think that I'm one that needs more carbs. I've started including raw carrots and fruit in my diet and have started losing again. Hope it keeps up.

Here are the instructions I followed to do mine. Hope it helps.

1. Get your ticker all configured.
2. On the last page, scroll down to where it says bbCode.
3.Copy the whole thing under bbCode
4. Go to your signature
5. Paste it there.

It should look something like this without the *

Hi everyone,
Rosebud has put in contact with you all after getting very lost in this site (it is all so interesting) but I am keen to "settle" somewhere. It is very motivating to chat to others who are particularly struggling with the excercise bit. I waited till 4 in the afternoon to finally convince myself to drive into town to the gym. Finally did and wow I realize how I have slipped back. Next day is wednesday so hopefully back into it.
Well done with the bikes...they are very good cardio efforts too.
Hope to chat again soon.

Hi Oaklady and welcome to this thread. Sometimes there is a lot of activity and then sometimes it slows down.

I'm hoping to start seriously exercising this fall. I see they are building a new fitness center about 15 miles from here. I hope they have an indoor pool and cater to women, not like Curves, but set up so that it feels good to be there and not intimidating. It would be so wonderful!!!!

Hello everyone! I feel the same way regarding the "settling somewhere" especially for those of us over 50's who have medical problems, and difficulties losing weight and exercising. I'm 56 years old, have a 26 year old son who is married, no babies yet, and live alone with 2 cats. I can stay on plan at home but work is a problem for me because everyone has to bring in something sweet every single day. Sometimes I resist but not always. My exercise consists basically of walking to and from the bus-stop on my way to work, going shopping on foot and carrying groceries on the bus and up 3 flights of stairs. Am planning to exercise more as the weight comes off.

Hi Oaklady:
Where in southern Australia do you live? My cousin and her husband live in Adelaide.

I work as an administrative assistant in an office and I have never worked in an office where so much food is brought in on a daily basis. I just wish people would eat their preferred meals at home and not feel the urge to feed the others they work with. These co-workers (unlike me) have families they can cook for. There's even 1 lady here that weighs 90 pounds, exercises like a fiend (even goes to a gym at lunchtime) yet always brings in store bought sugar laden danishes, which she does not eat herself. It's outright ghoulish?

I did receive one complement yesterday. One of our Korean students (she's in her late 30's) that I have spoken to in the past about nutrition follwed my advice to start eating a more traditional Korean diet like her ancestors did and to cut out the processed foods, containing sugar and starch, told me that within days of following this approach she eliminated the constant intestinal problems she had endured for over a year. She asked that we go for lunch so we could discuss this further. Made me happy that I have found someone who actually understands where I am coming from.

Hi Jann and everyone.
Can't say I am enjoying summer cos it is winter here, actually today was the winter solstus (spelling). Actually went back to the gym and got my old PT back. It is worth paying the extra money cos then I have an appointment and I go. Oh and thanks for the info Hellistile and that is funny cos I am from Adelaide, born and bred and got sent down to Mt. Gambier, at the bottom of the state because I was under a bond and they "owned" you for 3 years.(teaching) Ended up marrying a farmer and here I still am. Small world isnt it? Wonder if your cousins live anywhere near Mitcham in Adelaide. Cos this is so crazy.
I've got to go to bed. Been up late making chocolate bars for an order.Hope you are all enjoying your breaky.

Ladies:
Oaklady: don't know how you cannot be tempted by those chocolate bars you make. You must have great willpower. My uncle, married in Germany after the war, moved to Adelaide in the late 1940's, and had 4 daughters. 2 I've lost track of, one married an American and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, and 1 married a local boy in Adelaide and has lived there ever since. I can't comment on where in Adelaide though and wish I could afford to come and visit her but maybe someday. All the pictures the family has received in the past show the city to be beautiful and a place where we'd love to visit.

JAnn thanks for the welcome. Wish I could muster up some enthusiasm for any type of challenges, and even though I've looked everywhere, can't seem to find any. I'm still off the wagon a bit, derailed so to speak, but not in a huge way. The joints are starting to comment on my cheats by crackling and stiffening up, and probably, within a short time, protesting loudly accompanied by pain. Goes to show you that with age, wisdom does not necessarily follow.

Basically, it's just going 100 days without cheating. It's not about how much weight you lose. I'm a slow loser so I wanted to just challenge myself on my eating habits.

Right now I'm a a diet for food allergies and I really need to be strictly legal for 90 days so I decided to go for 100 days. Why not, the success would feel good both physically and mentally.
