:wiggle: I finally figured out how to start a gym log so here goes. This will be day 3 for me. I will say up front-I hate to exercise, hate to sweat. I have to MAKE myself do it. I don't have a set routine at this point. I have been walking down on the nature trail around the building where son is taking a class so that is enough to get me started. We are going to leave a little early today and try and get there while it's a bit cooler. The temp goes up a degree or so for every 15 mins it seems. It's a somewhat shady area so that's good. This weekend, am not sure what I'll do. I have Y pass for the pool, have indoor exercise tapes, nordic trak, etc. We'll see. I am just working on doing something most days.

Friday-Got my walk in. I'm not sure if it is a mile now, or 1/2 mile. The sign says 1 mile, but the map is confusing. It seems to be about a mile. It was hot again. I still plan on swimming tonight with the kids, we'll see. Dh is having bad day and may need me around....

TORTURE! Heh, I had to pop in because I love that title. I hate cardio too. What's the deal with how fast it makes your heart beat? That can't be good! Oh wait, yeah it is. :)

A good exercise plan is one you can commit to. I hope it works out for you! :)

Day 4 in a row of some sort of exerocism, er exercise for me. I ended up doing step bench and hand weights. Had to knock the dust bunnies out of the bottom of it. I think I have a video that goes with that thing somewhere....

I didn't last too long- maybe 5 mins, but it was something to start with. I really felt it in my hips and backside. I'll go for 10 mins next time. I still hope to get to the Nordic Trak today. By the time I dropped son off, got to store to get lock for locker at the gym, got back to the house to get suits and towels, it was too close to time to have to be back to pick son up and then the family swim would be over. I feel bad. Dau has wanted to swim all week and something keeps getting in the way. Son got his exercise going door to door delivering newsletters so dau still needs to do something today. I'm encouraging them to exercise as well. Son lost 7 lbs the week he was at camp, just from hiking almost everyday. He got a real moral boost from that. He's fairly chunky for his age, and dau is headed that way, although she is pretty muscular/solid. They spent a lot of time on trampoline Thurs. I want to keep the momentum going for them as well. Maybe will have dau do her kiddie yoga tape tonight. She likes that. Bag is packed already for pool tomorrow! LOL.

Swam for about an hour. Used kickboard. They have kickboards and float belts and foam dumb bells for arm exercises. I watched some of the people do that. Maybe I will sign up for a water exercise class when kids get in school? Possibility. I hate the dressing room tho and peeling off wet swimsuits, etc. I'm going to have to think about this. Kids had a good time. That was other issue-trying to watch them and do some exercise too. We will work on dd some more then I will feel ok leaving her long enough to do laps. I just am not ready to let her go without being right there. Day 5! who hoo. I'm proud I did it.

:yay: Yo Quibbers,

Keep up the good work! As soon as you latch onto an activity you like, it WILL become addictive. Now, all you have to do is repeat after me,

... it WILL become addictive, it WILL become addictive, it WILL become addictive ...

Seriously, my hubby and I have been LC'ers for 4 plus years, been at some kind of daily cardio/exercise for longer than that. Some days are just harder than ever, almost impossible. But those are the days when you crawl off the nordic trak or drag your butt home after a power walk and feel SOOOOOOOO self-righteous. Sweat and all, it is a good feeling.

Keep it up - it's worth it in the long run.

Holly

I admire your resolve, exercising so soon after starting a LC WOE. It took me six weeks before I had the energy. Even then, like you, I had always detested exercise, except for walking in the woods. But the LC WOE has given me so much energy that I'm like a caged animal if I don't work out.

hey Quibs,

No gym log ... I suppose I should, but I look at it this way. I spend the time that I might use doing the log to actually get off my butt and exercise. But, that's just between us :-)

Stay well and keep moving!!

Did two laps around the walking path, but had to cut through the second time because Mini Me was whining so much. We only did about 1 1/4 but that is the same as yesterday ( only much cooler this time). I think tomorrow I will do something at home. I have a farewell party to go to. snif.

TGIF!! Well, if I don't get anything else done today- i doubled my N Trak time. Up to 14 mins, was going for 17 but dh called-then called on my cell so I figured I should answer it-grrr

Feel just gross today. Woke up feeling queasy and sort of off balance. Had some coffee (not filling cup up all the way now) and then some water- nothing sounds too appealing tho. May just have celery and cheese or something.

Yah, the nauseating thing.. I had it too. You're following the diet so well now, you're body is starting to register that your depriving it of it's bad habits. You WILL overcome it! :)

15 mins on the Trak Rack. Why is it when I get close to 20 mins my lower back starts hurting?!? I stand up straight. Geeze. Anyway- done. Added a min from yesterday. Will try and keep it at 15 for a few days before I go up again. We will prob do something else today, but I'm not sure what. A walk or swimming or such.

Happy exercising!

Did my weights. I don't really have a routine so I don't know how to record them. I just use 3 lb hand weights to do a series of reps to try and get all the muscle groups in my arms and upper body worked. I need to get back to MWF schedule with them. Felt muscles today I didn't know I had!

I was reading somewhere on this internet about repititions (I am lost too) and all recommend doing 1 set of 10, then another set of 12, then another set of 10, using whatever weight you feel like you are actually doing something.
LMAO...I think I will stick with ounce weights!!!

I haven't gotten around to asking about a program to be set up for me at the Y, I feel that too much info would overwhelm me, and I would be lost and then give up.

Also, they say do half the body one day..the other half another day, wouldn't it be nice just to send that part ONLY?
Recommended is lots of cardio.

Just think..if you did that, all those babies at the hospital you could burp and change in a minute!!! LOL, read your profile about nursing p/t.

I use to nurse too, but did more with ventillators, just think of how many buttons I could push...lmao..OOPS...wrong one! Just teasing, darn nursing humour.

Went to the pool, swam for 1 1/2 hours total. Part of that was floating around treading water, part 'jogging' did a few laps -like 3-dang that pool is long! lol, and I played around with the foam block weight thingies until my arms were hurting. pant pant-we are all tired today! Had a very melty fresh start bar in the car on the way home-melty yoghurt topping-yummm, ha. behind on my water-maybe not, I seemed to have swallowed some.

Did hand wieghts Sunday and Monday. They go to mWF now.

Did one of those dreaded workout videos- walking tape. Blegh. My hips be hurtin.

I'm kind of bummed. Scales haven't moved in a couple of days. Could be salty food, could be I got some hidden carbs in or maybe it' some muscle getting built up (she hopes!).

lissame
Tue, Aug-05-03, 11:09
Keep on keeping on quibbers! You know, I went out and bought some of that expensive NO-SALT and use it now instead. Really like it. If I'm fixin a meal for just the family, they get real salt, if I'm eating it too then we do the other stuff. Mine is always the fake stuff. Tastes exactly the same tho!

Well, am posting on the Late 20's buddy thread, so don't know that I need to post in here too...hmmm

Got up to 35 mins today, but had to break it up due to time limit. Want to do at least 30 mins on the Nordic Trak tomorrow, but will have to get up early to get it all done, since am working. Fingers crossed I get up on time.

I really need to get everyone to the pool this weekend. We need to spiff up the swimming skills to be ready for Florida. DD is stressing about the water depth.

Sun-45 mins total on the treadmill.

Mon, Feb-02-04, 10:23
30 mins treadmill- weight loss mode. Shoes helping I think.

Son has to do 5 -10 mile hikes and a 20 mile hike to get his hiking merit badge. I'm going to have to start getting him to use the treadmill more and bump mine up as well so we can do some smaller hikes this spring/summer. I'm talking 3-5 mile ones. He did a lot of hiking this past summer, but he hasn't done any in a while.

Hello! Just dropped in to see what you do for exercising. Hope you don't mind.

If you ever make it up to Alaska, we will have to get together and take some walks. I hear that Anchorage has some great walking trails.
