I know this is going to be a rather broad question, but I am a
male, about 6'1", and weigh about 232 pounds. I was wondering
what my best bets would be for losing weight. I have a
treadmill at my disposal that I was considering using, but I
wasn't sure if that was the best way to go. While I'm here I
want to ask a question that I've had involving diets, if you
go on a diet, get to where you want, and then start eating
normal again, won't you automatically gain weight back? Thanx

If you know what "normal* is?

what ever exercise you do has to equal at least an hours brisk
walk a day, (IMO. )It should be some aerobic activity that you
will do every day as well and enjoy doing. You should also
look at a weight lifting program as well. It is a good idea to
visit a "Personal Instructor" to advise you properly (this is
better value than wasting your money on a heart rate clock)

Basically what ever weight you want to be you have to control
your calories intake to 10 times that (200 pounds your calorie
intake would be 2000 calories a day)

You can eat more calories on top of this depending on how many
you burn during the day

The best exercise is the one you will stick with. Exercise in
combination with eating less will result in weight loss.

"Eating normal" does not mean eating more calories than
you burn. If you were currently "eating normal" you would
not be fat.

And so is yours

It's not far out and a good rule of thumb guide. (In fact an
excellent recommendation)

If you were to stipulate a daily intake of intensity what
would it be

Now you are changing your tune. First you said "has to". Now
you say "good rule of thumb" "an excellent recommendation" I
can agree with "good rule of thumb" and "an excellent
recommendation". But no way is it a "has to". As a matter of
fact one can lose weight without doing any exercise at all.
The ideal for most people is to eat 250 calories less than
maintenance per day and burn 250 calories more than
maintenance per day by exercising. This will result in a loss
of 1 pound per week and will minimize the amount of muscle
lost in the process.

I note your short regular meaningless without point
comments/posts? Often putting down (as is this case) without
reason, good advice?

In my original post I stipulated what ones calorie intake
should be for him to get to 200 lbs without exercise. Ideally
if one can, the idea is to become more intensive with exercise
but must do something that they enjoy and do it every day

For a person with a tread mill and wishing to lose some weight
this was excellent minimal exercise advice (In fact it is good
advice for everyone as a minimal requirement to daily routine)

For this person just walking at a brisk pace for one hour a
day. He would burn once a week over a pound of pure fat
(dripping or 3500 calories per week at hour seasions).

The time walking briskly can be broken up into what can be
spared ideally no less than 15 minute sessions. As always it
is best to look for a certified personal trainer to get
specific advice
