Hello:wave: all I've been lurking on the board for a a couple of weeks now. I've read alot of the posts and I have to say you're all so inspirational. I wanted to say hello and share a quick story with you all.
Today at work we had a department get together :Party:celebrating the impending wedding of a couple of co-workers it was very nice and I'm thrilled for them. Everywhere I looked I saw cookies, brownies, carrot cake (my favorite by the way), chocolate covered nuts and all kinds of juices, right there for the taking. And I PASSED, I didn't have anything, not one piece..... :yay:I just wished them well and went back to my desk.

Before starting the low-carb WOL 3 weeks ago and Atkins 1 week ago I would have had my fair share. But now tipping the scales at 280 and feeling like complete crap all the time I can't afford to indulge anymore, that part of my life is over. This was my first real test and I'm so proud of myself.... I've passed it. I know its all about small steps but I feel so good right now that I just wanted to share it with you all. You've all motivated me in more ways than I can say and I thank you for that.

Good for you for getting through your first test of strength....I know mine was about three weeks into Atkins as well...but I did okay too. It is a mindset or something...at least it is for me...and I am not doing alot of craving or wanting of things...mostly because I am eating what I like...only problem is I have to cook now...before it would be something very quick...with lots of leftovers...lol
Keep up the good work...and welcome to the forum...

Welcome to the Triple Digits Club. Isn't this way of eating wonderful? It's the first diet I've ever been on where I could easily pass up what used to be some of my favorite foods -- including carrot cake! I simply don't want them most of the time anymore.

I have to tell you all the support means alot. Its also means alot to share my battle with people that are going through the same struggle. I don't know anyone that's really overweight like myself. All the people close to me are in good shape and if they have to lose any weight its maybe 20 or 30 pounds not over 100 pounds. So its hard communicating how I feel. I also have to say that I'm feeling very good. The hardest part is making time to cook I use to just grab whatever was available now I have to really make an effort. I've been a little obsessed with the scale and find myself weighing everyday....I know that's bad.... but it makes me feel better to see the scale going the other way :yay:I've lost 15 pounds and I'm loving it. The low-carbing WOL is defiantly here to stay for me.

I have a suggestion for you on the cooking. Set aside a day on the weekend if you can to cook. There are lots of LC meals that freeze well and then you can just pop in the micro or let unthaw until lunch time and eat.....and you've only had to spend about 4-5 hours cooking your meals for the week with good planning. Try mini crustless quiches made in muffin tins........great to eat hot or cold. Good luck.......you're doing great.
