This was a great idea. Good you didn't limit it to just "South" Dakota. This will much easier to visit with one another.
I'm usually on the board early in the morning. DH is a school custodian so he's up early too.
Will check in later.

HAPPY 4TH.........
Glad u found it........hope u are having fun celebrating tonight. We had a little party last night at sis in laws' then to cousins house today.
Just as we were getting home the sky broke lose with dark green clouds and hail and then it all turned the brightest dense yellow I have ever seen. It was so pretty in its own right, had it not been for the hail. Can't tell what the damages might be yet. Good rain though, even this morning we had some . Kind of strange to get this much in July really.
Well I held the plan food wise...but had 1 Mich Ultra last night and 4 today. The first one gave both hubby and I a buzz....
I could feel my body working on it, it felt really strange...then it felt normal. Don't even wanna do the measuring and scale tomorrow.....TOM is announcing itself too so will have a double whammy. But had to do something different to celebrate...and it was my first cheat in a way. Don't think I went over carbs though...will see.
Well best get to bed ........
Catch u gals later

Hi, bubu and Lisa!
Been gone for a few days. Bad storm Thursday night - 80 mi. winds. Had tree branches all over yard and even one on the house. Spent the 4th cleaning up branches all over the neighborhood. We don't usually see our neighbors very often, everyone is so busy. But when things like this happen, everyone helps each other. It's really neat. That's what's good about a small town.
Lisa, you must have had those winds too on Thursday. It was scary - never seen anything like it. We could hear branches cracking and falling all over the place. Lucky it didn't hurt our house.
Anyway we were without electricity until 5pm Friday. When I booted my computer, my monitor was burned out. So had to get a new monitor this weekend. Can't get by without computer.
Had a family reunion in Madison yesterday. DD and I took lots of vegies, meat and cheese. I made a big crockpot of LC barbecued beef. It all disappeared so everyone must have liked it. We stayed on plan even with all the great looking fruit and pasta salads (which are my favorites).
I'll post the recipe for the BBQ beef in the recipe forum.
BTW, don't know if I mentioned it but I had gained 2# last week. What with all the hard work Friday, was back down on Saturday and then down another yesterday. So only 1 # to go by my 59th birthday, July 14. I just might make it if I behave myself this week.

Hey there Barb.....
Yeah the storms were something else, this seems so unreal for July..to be getting all this moisture again after the dry spells. Storla had bad baseball sized hail on the 4th. People had a party there and everyones vehicle got badly damaged.
Well bad day at work today......and splitting headache tonight.....with no time to eat today ...am looking fwd to a hamburger pretty soon. My daughter went thru the store today looking for plan wise things ..but nothing here...will have to make a trip to Mitchell maybe and look around there.
Tourists are a plenty this year I think and the darn construction everywhere again.....just don't like going there during the season.
At any rate I think we are all ready for a change, need to get with some recipes.
We haven't lost any over the weekend...in fact put on a pd total now from the beer no doubt..just hope it comes off this week.
Btw Barb....my # 2 son goes to DSU in Madison. He will start his first year again.....due to Nat. Guards went to Basics and AIT then took 2nd semester only to be activated with the 147th . So not enough credits and has to start over this fall.
Be back later....gots to EAT....lol

Bubu.....
Where did #2 son get activated to? Iraq? Is he back yet? Didn't you worry? My son was in Army Reserve from 1980 to 1989. He had been out a year when his unit was called to the Gulf War. His best friend was commander of the unit and he felt guilty because he was not going, but I was relieved. My son-in-law was there though, but was only support so not in any danger. Son's unit was a chemical unit that goes in and cleans up after biological or chemical attack. Scary stuff!
Had another storm last night. Lots of close lightening and rain, rain, rain! We got 2.5 in. Centerville (10 mi west) got 6 in. Vermillion River is flooding all over the place. Have a friend who lives by the river. They are really watching the dikes. We are supposed to have more storms tonight. I have lived in SD for 59 yrs and have never seen a summer like this one. Weird!
My scale was up 2# this morning. I know my problem - snacking on too many macadamias yesterday. That's the problem with nuts...can't stop at just a few. I have to do a much better job of planning my meals. I get hungry and just go to the fridge and grab whatever is quick. Not a good plan! It causes a lot of snacking which is a terrible habit of mine anyway. It's being home most of the time. When I retired, I got so depressed that first year and ate to make myself feel better. So all the weight I lost during induction (21#) was weight I had gained since retirement. I wanted to be at 199 by next Monday. I won't make it if I don't get control of myself. I did really good last week but yesterday kind of fell apart.
We just have one small grocery store too. I can find most things there, but I really like to shop at HyVee in Sioux Falls or Vermillion. I go to Vermillion every Friday morning to teach a Bible study there, so usually shop then. I love their meat. And their selection of fresh vegies is wonderful. Sometimes I go nuts and buy more than I can possibly eat in a week. I have some good sirloin steaks thawed out for supper. Hope it's not raining by then so I can grill them. It's cloudy now.
Well, I do ramble don't I?
CYL
PS: The lb you gained is probably just water. Beer will do that - just like saltly nuts! I will come off quick for both of us.

Well,
are u guys ready for another storm...this one sounds like its gonna flood alot of us. Just got done mowing and securing the goods outside...supposed to have 75 mph wind with this too...hope not.
We had .75 rain last night..nice and steady..heard about Centerville today too......poor folks. I sure wouldn't want that in my basement..its an old rock foundation and 1996 rains started bringing the water in then.
No, Randy didn't have to go overseas..they were in Fort Sill, OK ...the day they were scheduled to go also turned out to be their coming home day. They never knew on that day how close they came to being shipped. But since they are the missile launchers there was no need for them anymore....Looking at how things are going there now .....I wonder . I always said...mop up is more dangerous than the war itself. And I know their menalaty from so many of the living in Germany. Yes I was really scared and had lots of tears worrying.
Well I think I lost my 2 pds again.....gonna weigh tomorrow at the gym......as much as I have been sweating I hope its not just water weight.
Be safe....another sleepless night is coming on....good thing I only have to open the gym and don't have to work tomorrow...may catch a nap that way.

Well, it's midnight and no storm yet. Maybe we'll escape this time. Just got home from playing canasta. It's my night to entertain the "old folks".
bubu, I was looking at your stats. Says you started Jan. 2002. But you've only lost 12 lbs? Or did you stop and start again? Just curious.
Bought me a pair of bright yellow shorts and an Hawaiian print short set, both in size 16, this weekend. Haven't worn a 16 for 30 years! Sure feels good. The scale doesn't go down much and the measurements don't change much, but every week I feel thinner.
Glad your son didn't have to go. Yes, it's more dangerous in Iraq now than during 'the war'. I like George Bush but he sure is getting us involved in a lot of places. Liberia and Iran are possibly next. Not sure all this is wise. I don't believe the Middle East will ever really change. Jews and Arabs have been fighting for thousands of years.
Well, it's late and I need some sleep. Have to go to Sioux Falls tomorrow. Our neighbor fell off a ladder trimming trees this weekend and broke his collar bone. Have to take him to doctor. The local clinic doesn't do anything - just sends you to a specialist.
Goodnight.

Good Morning,
yeah, storm didn't do anything here either. It went as fas as the river again and then did the splits before Aurora County, weakened and came together again heading your way. I am glad, but mad cause I was in and out of sleep til 2 am. Our old dog gets so upset when the storms come. He is 16 years old, can hardly see and doesn't hear anything but he sure knows when they are a coming.
As far as the stats.....I think I contemplated starting in January then decided to build some strength first, to see how far my back would let me go. I had been in here once before last year or so and had to re-enter. I didn't start til June. For some reason I a doing so much better this time around..Last time it must have been too much of an adjustment or just didn't give it a chance long enough to realize the other benefits.
I can relate to your hospital trip.....just got news that my stepdad is failing rapidly.....He had a growth on his liver removed (not cancerous thank god) but has had heart trouble before and found out that his arteries in his legs are clogged, plus a kidney failed and the other is suffereing. To take stress off the heart they induced a med. coma and are also putting him on dialasys. This is in Germany, and mom is very upset. I have a brother over there, but he is blind, although his wife can lend a hand now and then with driving, I wished I was there to be with mom. Will call her again Saturday if she doesn't call me with any changes.
Just got our haircuts again.....love the short short...but needs to be cut so often it seems.
Am gonna take a cat nap, the workout was great this am but now I am beat...
talk to u later.

So sorry about your stepdad. When the kidneys start failing it's bad news.
Why is your family in Germany? Are you from Germany? My ancesters were German. On my mother's side they immigrated from Garmisch and my dad's side somewhere in the north. Around Frankfort I think. I think my great-grandfather returned to Germany and lived in Frankfort. I have the info somewhere...will have to look it up. One of my ancesters was in the Prussian army. Have the epulets (those shoulder things with the fringes) from his uniform. Do you know - was part of modern day Germany part of Prussia at one time or was Prussia what is now Poland? I have tried to research the history and geography of Prussia, but just get confused. My grandparents always claimed they were German.
Went and cleaned at our church this morning. Leave for Sioux Falls at 2:30. Need to go have lunch now - a big salad with deli roast beef. Have been real good today - no snacks yet. Had a mock danish for breakfast. Trying to cut down on bacon because of the salt. Sure miss my bacon and eggs for breakfast though.

Hi,
Wow you're asking me about german history....I was never any good at it back then......and Yes I am still a German, have never converted yet lol. Its been 23 years in August since I came over here. Met hubby thru the military, he was stationed in town. Had our first son over there yet and came here when he was just 4 months old in 1980. Honeymooned in Garmisch !! lol
I grew up and lived only minutes from Frannkfurt in Ruesselsheim. This is the town that was the original birthplace and factory of the Opel cars. We all worked there. Even your ancestors may know of this, the Opel family goes way way back. The town is located along the river Main also as is Frankfurt. In fact I lived right by the river.
The subject of Prussia....I found this list of towns...and this link which may help explain some of the history.
http://members.aol.com/pommern1/content.html#HS
Brandenburg
Berlin (now an independent city)
Pommeria (Pommern)
Vorpommern (in Germany)
Hinterpommern (in Poland)
Rhineland (Rheinland)
Nordrhein-Westfalen
Rheinland-Pfalz
Saarland
Westphalia (Westfalen)
Posen
East Prussia (Ostpreussen)
West Prussia (Westpreussen)
Silesia (Schliesen)
Hesse-Nassau
Hohenzollern (now part of Baden-Wuerttemberg)
Lower Saxony (Province of Sachsen) (now part of Niedersachsen)
you should run a search of ancestry if u have names etc. Never know.. have done lots of translations of old german writings which people find in their family belongings and are trying to find out if they have any family left over there.
you can get a lot of info via the net as long as u have a name and town....etc.
We had lots of food to eat today....I was so drained I needed it. Just felt like I was starving today. The pants I have been wearing are getting pretty lose......but squeezed into some shorts.....and it showed how little progress it has been. Still I am determined t keep going ...I want rid of the fat.
Catch u later...

Hello!
I've been away for a couple of weeks and just read through the thread. Bubu, sorry to hear about your stepdad. It's such a difficult thing, especially when you're so far away. I'll keep your family in my prayers.
My family lucked out weather-wise. We were up at Oakwood State Park, north of Brookings, over the 4th (Thursday-Sunday) and missed out on the storms. Everything went south of us. At home the only damage was that our grill tipped over had had a few scratches but that's minor.
I just got done confessing in my journal about falling off the low carb wagon for the last week and 1/2 or so. I'm back and doing ok, except for the cravings. I gained back 3 lbs and have lost one of them, so I'm up two pounds since two weeks ago. I'm very frustrated with myself, mainly because I didn't come here as soon as I was tempted to cheat. I did call my friend who is also low carb, but she was cheating. Yikes. That's not good! Two fat co-dependent girls sitting around rationalizing the oreo cookies they just ate! SICK SICK SICK! :bash:
Hey -- I'm German too! I have German in both my mother's and father's side of the family. My grandma on my father's side was full German and she and her sisters all spoke German. I'm embarrassed to tell you that I don't know much more than that. My Dad also spent some time in Germany when he was in the Army. I'm going to visit with my Dad and get more info... That's a neat coincidence!
I promise to check in again soon and I'll come here in the future before I cheat!
Until next time...

Another German!! It's not surprising since there were more Germans who emigrated to SD than any other nationality. You wouldn't know it around here though - mostly Norweigians and Swedes. (I married one of those Swedes.)
Please come here when you are tempted. Hopefully we'll be around when you need us. I usually check in several times a day to see if anything is happening. I just wrote in another post that I think 99% of this WOE is mental - attitude and determination.
Don't worry about falling off the wagon. Just get back on and hang on tight! You will make it.

Hi gals...
first of all thanks for the embrace regarding my stepdad. Talked to mom yesterday and she was really lonely.....it was the day of the memorial service...he will be cremated in 2 weeks. Don't know why it takes so long over there.
Nice to see u back Lisa. You know I wouldn't fret over having fallen off.....sometimes its a good thing to find out how you feel afterwards and get right back on the program. You really didn't do so bad in gaining though, think I would have packed on a whopping 10 myself.
Hubby was stalled out and went on low cal week, leaving out real high carb stuff as well. Wants to see what it does and maybe get back on LC after that week.
I think that trying to be a good example for my daughter is really what is pushing me sometimes. I have gotten bored with some of the foods...as we don't get much of a variety in the store. But went ahead and got some peaches and cherries for a per oz treat with some cream last night and that was pretty good. I try to stay under 25 carbs at the moment.
I also stepped on the scale today since I hadn't for so long and it showed me at 179, but I don't trust it so will wait to change stats if its the same for a few days.
Its to get real humid again I see...so hope I can get some house work done this am.....finally a day off though, boss is back.
We are all in high gear for Sturgis, they should be starting to roll this next week and hell week after that. But its always fun ...time just flies when u can't look up from till or cred. card machine.
Catch u two later.....

 Bubu, so sorry about your stepdad. How is your mother? I bet you would like to be with her right now.
:yay: Hey, I finally figured out how to get the smilies in my posts.
:yay: Congrats on the 179. I know it will stay there. 179 sounds like a long ways away to me. My scale was back down to 200 this morning after a really light eating day. I was just too busy yesterday to eat an actual meal until supper. Just lightly snacked during the day so I could take my supplements.
It has been hot and humid this week. The Weather channel says that it will cool down the beginning of next week - Monday in the 70's. Hope the humidity leaves too. If I work outside in this weather I get overheated really easy. My cousin is having a big antique auction in Flandreau on Saturday. It's going to be really hot out there. I don't really want anything. I got rid of my antiques several years ago. Trying to simplify my house and my life. It will just be fun to go.

Hi,
Well sorry but the 179 was short lived....I don't usually step on the scale.....don't believe in it.....but well I had to see if it would stick and it didn't . Back to 182. Guess I should marvel in the fact that it even got there....only why I don't know, am not doing anything different. I just get so frustrated that its not moving, yet working out I know with more carbs I could have more energy yet a scared to even try.
Hubby went off the plan for a week and has gained 2 pounds is all...on Sunday he will go back on again. He will have more after today though, has taken in a few beers tonight. Then again mens bodies just don't react like ours and they get away with lots more than we do. I need to get back to journaling to keep track of where I am at. The death has really thrown a curb in all this.
I also feel the heat way too much. If they have forgotten to turn the AC on at home when I get there, I feel like sleeping all the time. Just a totally exhausted at the end of the day.
I think I will also start a paper journal of food and water....it seems when i get busy I lose track of the water esp. I know I haven't been getting enough.
My oldest is down 30 pds he sais.....in such a short time that is truly amazing. Last notch on the belt and fits into jeans he hasn't fit into in years. Sometimes think its a mans eating plan, created by a man too lol
Mom is doing ok, she sounds tired, has to deal with the legal issues now.
There are kids from a first marriage who inherit everything, no fun to deal with .
Well hope you are having fun at the sale tomorrow..I hear its gonna be humid again.....what fun. I best get outside early and get my stuff done too. Have tomorrow off.

It's tough to pay attention to water and food intake when you are going through stress. But stress is always easier when you are eating right.

Where do you live? I did have a good weekend. Not in weight loss dept. though. Up 2 lbs. again this morning. I'm going back on strict induction beginning tomorrow. Have to go shopping. Can't do induction without eggs.
I just measured, though, and have lost a couple inches in the waist, tummy, and hip area. That's what I measure most often. I carry all my weight in my middle. That occured after menopause. I had a waist 10 years ago. Yup, I really did!!
You and Lisa look young. I'm 59. My youngest DD is 30. I'd post my pic but it would scare everyone! I'm not photogenic.

Hi Dakotans......
Well sounds like the moon phase is right .....I was down a pound this morning too....and I too hope it will stay down. I sure feel drained, thats why I even stepped on that darn scale. Working out my legs felt like jello this morning and now I feel like I don't wanna walk another step.
I only got 25 minutes on the eliptical done then weights, abs and stretches but I felt like I had just run a marathon. To top it off I had to work store today and be on my feet during the entire afternoon. I'm bushed.
So just now I put my food intake into fitday...and wooooooah......I have my days fill already. Am gonna kick my legs up for a while then decide what I am going to do about that....eat supper or not. I suppose it will depend how hungry I am by then.
Isn't it nice out today ?....still the traffic was down on the Interstate compared to last week and of course esp. on weekends.
This year everyone seems to hit the road on the same days. Ralleys are not far off now.....am I ready for them ...heck no. This will prob mean I will have to halt my workouts in the am and go to work early...don't like that thought one bit.
Well best get going......may catch up agaiin later.
Isn't it great that we have finally matured enough to not let our weight status be our defining attribute.
I have no problem with stating what I weigh as in the past. Nor does it bother me what people think I look like at the moment. I wanna concentrate on being me, doing what I like when I can, and thrive to be the best I can be....bunions, bad back, chiggles and all. lol

Zora.... :dazzle: 40? No way. You can't possibly be 40! Man, I wish I looked that good at 40. But then I never looked that good. Tomorrow I'll scan a picture and try to figure out how to make it small enough to get it on here. I know there are instructions someplace on this board.
Ooo...good job on the measurements. Bet you've dropped several sizes. Never been to Grand Forks. Only been across the SW corner of ND. Want to go see Teddy Roosevelt's cabin some day.
I don't care about sharing my weight anymore. Told my Bible study group this morning that I finally made it below 200. They are a good supportive group. One lady had diabetes and a lot of other health problems. I know Atkins would help her and I talk about the health benefits a lot, hoping she will want to do it.
Bubu.... I agree that maturity gives you an entirely different outlook. I am not how much I weigh. I learned that a long time ago. I am what I am on the inside, not the outside. I used to be very introverted and shy, but the Lord taught me what a valuable person I am. At least I'm valuable to Him and that is the most important to me. I read some of the whiney posts on this board by young people and just want to respond "Grow up!" (Not talking about anyone on this thread!)
Congratulations on the lb. loss. :yay: Back when I was losing 9 lbs a week I never thought I would rejoice over 1 lb! But anything going down is good.

Go figure...by tomorrow it may show a different story though...so I will wait at least tomorrow out and see what happens...then change my stats.
I was so weak this morning at gym......legs just couldn't handle the eliptical at all...did 12 minutes and thought I was gonna take a dive.
So went right to lifting. My daughter wasn't too explosive either, didn't even wanna get up. She is feeling her first sores...so I know she is working a little harder.
I have eaten enough already for today as well...and I slept again after we got home this morning.....I really seem to need extra energy.....and its my day off...so my body gets what it wants. lol

That's my granddaughter, Samantha, at Christmas when she was 1 yr old. She has more hair now! Her father was bald for a long time, too - just fuzz. Did I mention that we're going to see her this weekend in Kansas City? I'm so excited!! :yay: DD#2 is flying in from Vermont. :yay:
That's what days off are for - rest.
I went through a period when I would get a 'hungry day' and eat a lot. I always had a loss the day after. I think it reassures the metabolism that there is plenty of food coming so it can let go of some stored fat.
I've only had 1400 calories today and I'm going to try to keep it there. I didn't have breakfast today. I take my thyroid pill when I get up and have to wait 2 hrs to eat. I got busy and totally forgot. I'm not hungry so evidently have had enough to eat.
Hope you got enough rest today and will have more energy tomorrow. CYL
PS: Who's that beautiful blonde that shows up in your profile?

Wow another coincidence.......my daughters name is Samantha as well.....
Husband wanted to name her Sarah Lee.....(Lee being a friend of ours) but I refused to call her by a cheese cake.
Well my food was high again today.....basically cause I was home and still kinda lugging around sluggish. Feeling absolutely full tonight, so hope I am having a strong day tomorrow. Daughter thought she was down a pound again too, so we discussed a few things for tomorrow to increase her tempo on the tread.
oh wow going to KC.....we went thru there a few times on our way to Fort Sill, OK while son #2 was on duty there. 725 miles way too long for those quick visits...but worth it.
lol....the pic in my profile is moi.....didn't even know it was lingering there....I was playing around with the sizing of all of them.
That was about 2 - 3 years ago. At that time I was still working out etc....until my 5th lumbar wouldn't let me make a move anymore. Sad time and it can start again at any time. Only have a tiny sliver of disc left there so I have to control my moves every minute and do lots of hamstring stretches . I was crippled to the point of not sleeping anywhere but my recliner and such. I have another pic in my journal of that time....was originally going to put that as an incentive on the bottome of my posts...but read they don't like people using the space for that.

I had exactly the same problem. Think it was the 3rd disc though. I suffered with that for 2 years. The disc fluid was laying along the sciatic nerve and I could hardly walk. I also slept in the recliner for months and if not the recliner, the couch with my leg propped up. My bed was just too firm. I finally had to have a nerve block and it finally began to heal. I still sleep with a pillow between my knees. That was back in the early 80's. I have a twinge occasionally when I've done something I shouldn't and I just have to rest it and be really careful for a while. I have to be really careful when I exercise.

Hello everyone!
I just read through what I've missed in the last week or so. Its great to see you here Zora!
I've been busy with so many things, but I've kept my focus pretty well as far as my eating goes... There have been a few times when I've given into temptation, but I've managed to always pick the best possible "naughty" food and eat it in small portions. So, I've maintained my weight. I always figure if I haven't gained, at least that's something!
Barb, your granddaughter is adorable! I saw that you were wondering about our ages. I'll be 35 tomorrow! My husband and I married quite young (and they said it would never last  ) and we have three sons, ages 12, 11, and 8. It's hard for me to believe that I'll have two kids in middle school this fall. Also, my husband is a hunter so my oldest went through the hunter safety course this spring. I'm nervous about the idea of him hunting, but my husband is very into safety so I know they'll be ok. Still, it's strange!
Congratulations on the weight loss everyone! :yay: :yay: :yay:
As I said, I've been maintaining for the last couple of weeks, but for some reason woke up highly motivated today! We are leaving for vacation on August 10th (17 days) and I'd like to take off 5 lbs. before we go. That's a little over 2 lbs per week, which should be possible, but we'll see.
Someone asked me today if I'm planning to pig out on my birthday. Yikes. No way. Well, I am planning on having on slice of cheesecake. I've been planning that for a couple of weeks and can't wait! Other than that, it's just a regular day!
Barb, I have relatives in Flandreau too! My husband has two sisters that live there! It is a small world!
Until next time...

Hi all....
well I hit the 179 again.....I am hoping it stays....ate another 2000 yesterday....2nd day.....so maybe my body just wanted reassurance.
Now I know I will not stay on that many......but I think I will test that again after maybe 3 weeks.
Our equipment at the center is in much need of repair. Both elipticals and one treadmill are making the BAD noises. Still under warrantie but sad that it has to happen already.
Well Lisa, I wish mine were just starting their HS-careers. I am almost 44 and have 3 sons, 23, 21, 18 and a daughter 14. I so enjoyed the activities with those guys. I wished I could turn back time. When I used to play hockey, mom was never interested to come to even one game, so I vowed when I had kids I would go to them all. I did just that, only missed a couple of wrestling matches because I was sick.
All of the boys have had state experience in either wrestling or football and the youngest also plays basketball. What a time we have had and here its his last year already. The daughter isn't so into sports, a little volleyball is about it. Once her weight comes off, I am hoping she will join some other interests as well.
I gotta say ...I can't wait to have grandkids so I can experience all this over again.
Getting a few bikers thru now...should pick up real good this weekend and then hell weeks after that. Sure glad your vacation isn't during that time lol

Barb,
How I could feel your pain while reading about your back problems. I think I have been lucky it hasn't gone to the sciatic yet. Mine is just pure osteoarthritis with a minimal layer left on the disc. Mine strated somewhat in the late 80's but a chiropractor could still fix me and rest.
Then it got to where I couldn't go to work twice within a year. I couldn't keep house as in mopping etc. and the walks and workouts stopped as well.
I went to the doc who then prescribed Vioxx without taking my blood presure etc. (vioxx indicates negative on heart history) and after I started getting puffy I quit that.
I was so desperate to find help (ironically my brother is a physical therapist....but in Germany.
Anyway the doc told me I was really limber which I am depending how he bends me and that stomach muscles are important.
What a laugh...I went on the net and surged for spinal health and found out with lumbar the stomach muscles actually pull the spine to cause pain...so I started doing hamstring stretches as suggested .
Guess what .....I haven't seen a doc or chiropractor or felt a sharp pain since. I still sleep on the couch as to not move around and the wrong way. I can work out, I can mop if I watch myself and I can lift things like case goods again.
Hamstring stretches that was all it took to manage the pain. I do them daily too, after our workout or right away after leg work.
Soooo simple.....Vioxx cost how much ????....25 bucks for starters with insurance.

Guess our problem is a little different. Mine was a ruptured disc.
For the 2 months before starting Atkins, I was sleeping on the couch again. I had restless leg and had to get up often and walk it out. A week after starting induction I was back sleeping in my bed with no more restless leg.
Well, I just stopped in to say Hi! Have packing to do - leaving tomorrow morning. Talk to you on Monday or Sun. night if we get back early.

Where has everybody been this weekend. I popped in to catch up and no one has been here.
Had a great trip to KC. My granddaughter is starting to say words. She is such a ham in front of the camera. Went to the River Market and bought lots of wonderful fresh fruits and vegies.
Put on 2 lbs. this weekend. Hope it's just water. Ankles were a little swollen last night. It was so hot I should have sweated 2 lbs off!!
DS and DDIL are on Atkins, too. DS has lost over 50 lbs. and DDIL has lost about 25. They really cheated this weekend and I'm concerned they will totally fall off the wagon. We ate out a lot and they couldn't resist the sweets.

Hi,
glad u had a good time. I think its the puffy me up moon phase....I am feeling the same way. Also believe I have found my threshold in carbs....I went as high as 45 this weekend. Had Squash, Zucchini and orange peppers and such with a tenderloin on the grill.....our usual straw- blueberries and cream thing etc....didn't take long to add calories and carbs. Today I am feeling absolutely bloated and like I have gained a ton. Hadn't when I weighed after the workout though.....so hope its just water now.
Gonna hold back some today and hope to get back down to 25 carbs by tomorrow...need to plan my days ahead again.
The bikes are slowly rolling in ...come wednesday it should get interesting already. On Friday and Saturday will be the heaviest days I think and it looks to be getting HOT then. We will get our share of lobsters then.
During that week the gym will be closed too as they are waxing the floors...so I will be miserable in a way...but its just as well...gotta go in early and do bookwork before the masses hit.
DH went to KC today too...with a load in semi though.
Well gonna eat some broccoli and chicken....
catch u later

Hope your hubby doesn't have to go on 435 East. There's construction and it can be a mess near rush times.
That's a terrific excuse for water retention - a puffy moon phase.  I'll have to remember that.
We saw bike all the way thru Iowa on 29. We get them thru here, too, but probably not as many as you do. We only get the ones coming from the south.
I may have to join the fitness center. It's obvious I don't accomplish anything at home. I hate exercising in front of DH and he's in and out all day. I just get going and he comes home.
I sure got a lot of compliments this weekend. DD from Vermont hadn't seen me since I started and she was amazed. I actually was able to wear shorts all weekend and not be embarressed about fat legs. It's so nice to be able to sit on the floor and play with my GD and be able to get up again.

Hi Barb,
Well hubby made it home ok....not much sleep though, so sonked out early tonight.
GREAT to get the compliments !!!!!!! Can't wait. Thing is I always have dressed to where it wasn't all that visible what I have gained.....so it will be a while before anyone notices I think....Have gone to tighter fitting clothes....still relaxed but not quite so baggy...so I show more what I STILL have.
Have decided to up my program and start weighing things more closely again, also to log my food right away on paper. This is heading off disaster actually. I have noticed that I am more tired and tend to want to have something to eat rather than sleep when I get home. Thats no good...is a dangerous trap. So with the ralleys coming I need to really watch myself on how I react in a day.
Also will start setting a program for workouts and keep stats, also on paper as well as in my journal here.
The only bad part being that gym will be closed for a week ...prob next week and my basement is too hot and stuffy to use right now with my own equipment. Still will be a test to see how much of my gains will suffer in a week. Kind of nice to know for future ref.
I hope u can get some excercise in for sure...even walking with the walkman is a great thing. Housework may get us to sweat but its not the good controlled ...good for the body stuff. I get so much peace from working out ....I just love it. In fact sometimes I want to go back in the afternoon...BUT alas there is a fam to take care of too.
Well best get my beauty snooze

Hope everyone is doing good!!

Hi neighbors! :dazzle:
I just joined the forum this week and found this thread and wanted to say hi! I live in Fort Pierre, and it's nice to see others from the area here. I'm married and have 2 teenage sons (well, one is 16 and one ia almost 13 LOL)
I just started seriously low carbing a month ago. I have watched my carbs for years and tried to keep them around 100, but that was such a struggle, I had cravings all the time, and gave into them way too often. I have diabetes and when I would eat what they told me (45 carbs a meal) it never really helped me control it. Now I have better control. Right now I probably get around 30-40 carbs a day, all from veggies and I allow myself to have some berries every night. This way is a lot easier for me since the craving are gone.
I have a long way to go, but I feel very encouraged with this WOE. I am also exercising like a fiend LOL. I am doing 20 minutes of cardio 3 times a week and started back lifting weights 3 times a week - full body 45 minutes. I plan on starting Body For Life next week or the week after when I get my journal.
Nice to see everyone here!

Hi Mary,
Glad u joined us...hope you stick around. I live in Plankinton, have 3 sons 23, 21, 18 and a daughter almost 14.
I have done Atkins only once before but really couldn't get into it, food was not palatable to me then. This time around it seems so easy, don't know why though.
I also lift, 5 days /week which I have been doing for a long time, except for 3 years when I had mega back problems and just wasn't moving much at all. Having found a way to manage those I am back in the game but gained so much weight which is now a struggle.
Lifting is my peace, my energy, my power. Without it I am just not who I like to be or want to be. I guess its like an addiction of sorts, but I am glad I have it.
My daughter is on the plan as well, my hubby was also and had lost 28 pds before he stalled and carbed up. He hasn't been all that serious about it since...but still is not eating junk . Daughter on the other hand is extremely precise in what she eats and logs everything, so I have good company. My oldest son is also LC-ing but living with his future pride, but think he is doing great...had lost 30 pds in the first 4 weeks.
I will try and continue coming on every night..but won't promise much.....I work at a Phillips station on I-90 and we are getting the bikers now...so we are going to be swamped for 1.5 weeks for sure. But I love it. In fact I get upset when I have to do the bookwork upstairs and try to hurry so I can do store as fast as possible...
Well best get ...gotta walk the dog yet and do journal.
Catch u all later

Welcome, Mary! Glad to meet another neighbor.
DS worked in Pierre at the DOT for 2 yrs after college. He's 40 now, married, and had my first grandchild, Samantha, 19 mo. ago. DS, DDIL and DGD live in Kansas City. DD#1 is 38 and lives here in Beresford and DD#2 is 30, an RN, and lives in Burlington, VT.
Everyone except DH and DD#2 is on Atkins. They are the only 'normal' ones. The rest of us were born fat! DS has lost 50 lbs since May. He didn't lose anything during induction and then it just started melting off. I'm so proud of him. He was up to 370.

Hi Barb,
Wasn't too bad today...didn't get the rush started until 2 pm and even that wasn't as bad as last year. But one can never outguess them.
One year we thought it must be a light year...and they clobbered us on the way back. 11 hrs at work today.....will see what tomorrow brings.
My worst fear is my senior is in Brookings at football camp and coming home tomorrow in this traffic. I won't rest easy until he is home....also the 21 yr old has Guards and will be out there as well. I like to know my fam. safe when all this is going on. The oldest is fireman and has seen some ugly stuff already.
Bad part about this is there is no time to eat in a normal way. I had end of month and statements to do as well ...so I had a cheese and beef stick all day....
But supper was good...round steak and squashes and peppers from the grill. DH even fixed it .
It being 100 years for HD we could actually get hit the end of this month again, from the west....
Oh well, working hard is what the summers are all about here......winter we relax........and relax....and relax.....and have high heating bills lol

Hey, I hit a new low this morning. The scale said 196. Yesterday I was really good about snacking and worked hard outside. Must have made a difference.
Missing meals can be a problem. I have never been a breakfast eater and the last month have skipped breakfast occasionally. I pay for it later. Once I eat lunch I can't stop eating - hungry the rest of the day.

Hi everyone!
Mary, welcome! Hope to see more of you around here!
Barb, congrats on the loss! I am so happy for you!
Bubu, you are just working so hard! Hope things slow down some and that your boys got home safely.
My ex had a harley, but we never made it to Sturgis. I wouldn't mind attending that one year just to say I did. Some day I'd love to own one myself. I used to ride and had a Kawasaki :hanging head in shame: hehe
Things are going ok here. I leave for vacation on Tuesday for 11 days. My son and I are going to upstate NY to visit my family. Not sure if it will be much of a "vacation", as mom is ill with lung cancer. We just need to get home and spend some time with her and everyone else.
Barb, you mentioned your daughter lives in Burlington, VT. That is where my son and I are flying into when we go home this week! My family is in Plattsburgh, NY, right on Lake Champlain. I LOVE Burlington. Small world!!
Food wise, I majorly slipped this past Tuesday. It was the first time in a long time that I was totally out of control and emotional eating. I suffered with stomach cramps for two days after. I won't do that again. I put on about 4 lbs, but have it back off. I'm not going to make my mini goal of 50 lbs off by vacation, but that's ok. I'm back on track and will make it soon enough.
Well I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday and will see you all soon.

Zora, I should have also asked if you are originally from NY, and if so how did you end up in ND? I'm always interested in the turns in life others have taken. Sorry if I'm nosy. I like Burlington, too. Bet you will take the ferry. Next time we go I want to take the ferry and drive over to Lake Placid. Just to say I've been there! Susan lives just a half mile from the lake. There's a path from her backyard through the woods to the lake. I have no problem getting my walking exercise in Vermont. So many beautiful places to walk.
We should be in VT now. We were planning on going, but then Susan decided to come back here. We will probably go next year. Susan wanted to see her niece. We went to KC to see her (and GD of course.). She is so funny. She said to Sammy, who's 19 mo. old, "When you want to know about boys, just ask your Aunt Susan. I can tell you all about them." :agree: (She was married and divorced.)

Hi Barb,
Yes, I am originally from Plattsburgh, NY. I met my ex husband when he was in the Air Force and got stationed in my home town (that base is now closed). We moved to Okinawa, Japan for 5 years in 1991 and came to ND in November 1996. I about froze to death! We divorced in December 1998, and I stayed here.
YES! Vermont IS very beautiful. My grandparents and other relatives lived there for many years in the Castleton and Poultney areas. Some are still there.
Most definately check out Lake Placid AND Whiteface Mountain next time you are out that way! Just GORGEOUS. My son and I go there everytime we go home to visit. You can drive up most of the mountain and then either take an elevator to the peak or hike the rest of the way. We usually take the elevator up and hike back down.
very funny what Susan said to Sammy!! :p Made me laugh!!
Take care and talk soon!

What is it about Air Force guys? Susan was married to one, too. They were in Charleston, SC. After 5 years he decided he 'wasn't happy.' Susan was devastated, but she got through it and is stronger and wiser. It will be a long time before she gets married again, although she has had many boyfriends. The BF she has now is a great guy and I would like to see her marry him. They have been together for 4 years now.

Good thing ....that and hunting season is what makes us all survive the winter in this business.
Congrats on your downer Barb.....I am at standstill...still hovering around 179-180...not working out really makes me feel bad. I am so beat by the end of the day that I have to sleep for a bit..then at 7 I get a second wind but by then its too late for the gym.
I can't wait for the first morning again..which is prob. gonna be next Tuesday Wednesday..no day off til Wednesday for sure.
I had a Health SmartChoc Fudge/Vanille bar with 14 carbs....was a nice cool treat...tomorrow gonna try the fruity ones.
Well I just had a thought....we should make up a goal to maybe all meet once we hit our goals....of a number of pounds..what do u guys think about that. I know we have varying amounts we want to lose....think about it....I think it would be a gas.

Hi, everyone. I've been busy and haven't had time to post.
Mary, we've been dry too and finally got some rain the last two nights. The grass was beginning to crunch as you walked on it. Been watering my flowers like mad, now I can relax for a week. Finally got all my beds weeded on Monday. It was cloudy and cooler so could work outside all morning. I'm not handling the heat as well this year. Maybe it's the higher body temp on LC.
Bubu, maybe a lot of bikers will go to the Harley thing instead of Sturgis this year. Too bad they are so close together. I looked at those Health Smart bars, but never was a big ice cream eater so decided I didn't need them. Now a SF popsicle would taste really good on a hot day, but haven't found those. I think a get-together would be a great idea. It would be really fun to meet at a motel where we can swim and use the weight room. I would actually exercise is everyone else was there. Maybe have to do it on a weekend. It will depend on everyone's schedule and finances what we can do. I can go anywhere at any time.
Zora....I guess you left yesterday. We will be waiting for your return and a report on your mother. My mother died of lung cancer that had spread to her bones and liver. It was rough at the end. She would never do chemo so there was nothing they could do. It was her choice. She did have a better last 2 years than she would have with chemo.
Talk to you all later.

Well, it seems that it is the summer for my appliances to break down. First my deep freeze went out a few weeks ago, and now my washing machine bit the dust on Friday. So now I have brand new ones! The old washer must have not been working the best since I did some laundry yesterday and it was WAY cleaner than the old machine.
I had some friends up here camping by the dam this weekend and we spent some time out there. It was hot, but nice. And the evenings were very nice. I love it here when the wind doesn't blow 80 miles an hour LOL.
I started Body for Life yesterday. The workout was incredible! I am not doing the eating part of it. I am staying low carb since I love it so much and it takes away my cravings.

Hi everyone!
My son and I are at the folks in upstate NY until August 16. We are having a good time and visiting with lots of relatives. The weather has been rainy every day, but not steady rain. Off and on. My son and I went to Lake Placid the other day. It was so beautiful and peaceful riding through the Adirondack Mountains. We did not go to the summit of Whiteface Mountain this time, because with all the rain, the visibility would not have been the best.
Marebear and Barb, thanks for the concern for my mom. She tires easily and obviously doesn't feel well, but she looks better than I thought she would. Barb, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I guess you can certainly understand what we are going through. We just all try to think positive.
As for my diet, I have totally messed it up the past few days, but I am back on track. I find I do a lot of emotional eating every time I visit here. I hope I didn't do too much damage. I am afraid to weigh myself. I think I will just wait until I get home and weigh myself there. That gives me 4 days back on plan before facing the music. LOL
I hope everyone is doing well and sticking to plan. I will be back to visit with you soon.
Take care,

Hi gals.....
Well, I see everyone holds dear moms in their hearts, as do I . My concern is with the heat they are having in Europe. 110 F the other day when I called. We are not used to that kind of heat there, so people in general don't own a/c. With quad byepasses and crippling bones I am very worried for her.
But she is drinking 3 liters of water a day and has bathtub filled with cold water so she can cool off. There are mobile a/c s available there but really expensive I guess.
Thank God Sturgis is done....it really wore me out this time. Yesterday I came home fixed and ate supper and was just gonna take a quick rest, ended up sleeping until midnight...then going to bed lol
We had our mad rushes Fiday and Saturday...it was a zoo..but also fun to work. Now we are anticipating Milwaukee starting the weekend of the 24th and lasting a week also there I think. We have never really had the western crowd come thru of course...should be interesting.
Most of all I am glad to have gone to the gym again this morning...man did that feel good.
Mary......did u buy the body for life book...or following the internet workouts ?
I will be going on a scheduled program once school starts.....my daughter doesn't want to spend that much time at the gym in the mornings waiting for me. I have the old Ultra system, from Muscle and fitness...I may use that.....or try BFL as well...not sure yet.
I need to upgrade my stats also....been down to 178 for a couple of days now, might even be 177 but don't trust that yet.
Hubby is tired of low carbing........not sure what his agenda will be...but daughter has put on a pair of pants that fit real tight this spring..and they are baggy....Yippie.....so think she will stick with me.
Well best check my mail...
Wishing your mother the best Zora.......and have a good time there.

Zora, so glad to hear from you. Glad you are having a good time in such a sad situation. Rain...we need it so badly again.
bubu, glad you survived! I've been thinking of your family since it's been so hot over there. It is so weird. Cold London even hit 100! I remember those days in SD without a/c. All I wanted to do in the afternoon was sit in front of the fan. It was hard to get the kids to take their naps. After naps we would head for the pool. But only had 1 vehicle then and DH had it so we had to walk .5 mi to pool. By the time we got back we were hot again!! Those were good days though. In some ways I would like to live them over again (knowing what I know now, of course  ).
Mary, I may have to check out BFL. I read of so many who use it. Maybe I need something that tells me what to do.
I have 2 other threads I keep up with regularly - Senior Support in the Elders Lounge and Countdown to 199. I already made 199, but can't leave them. There are a great bunch of people on this board. I have friends now all over the country and Australia and Canada. It's so fun!!

Just heard on the news that most of New York including Plattsburg is in a blackout. Zora is in Plattsburg. Hope she's OK. She's having an adventure!!!!

I should explain my remark about Zora having an adventure. Remember the story 'Pooh's Great Adventure'? It was a favorite of DD#2. Every time we get in a 'pickle' I say we are having an adventure. For instance, if we are traveling and get lost I say we are having an adventure - we don't know where we will end up. It puts a positive spin on things. I love adventures!! You never know what will happen.
That's what I said after the July 3rd storm and we were dangerously winding our way through tree strewn streets and downed power lines to see if DD#1 was Ok and we had no electricity for 18 hrs. It was an adventure!!
Some people can make every day of their lives an adventure. I wish I had that ability.

Hi everyone,
So I guess you heard what's going on out here. Actually, the Mayor said that Plattsburgh was like the only city in NY that did not lose power! We were running on backup power. They were talking about shutting our city down, but they never did. Mom dug out some flashlights and candles just in case.
I went to my best friend's house tonight - we have been best friends since we were 6 - and her sister lives in NYC. Luckily, she was not on an elevator or the subway when they lost power.
Yes, what an adventure. LOL
I leave for home on Saturday, so if I don't see everyone before then, take care and God bless.
Pssstttt... no more babies for me!!

Zora, so glad you are OK. Fox News kept saying that Plattsburg was out. They opened their lobby for people to sleep in last night. I couldn't believe that the hotels evacuated and then locked people out. Tourists were sleeping on the curb. So much for 'friendly' NYC. It's amazing that everything went so well overnight. Isn't it funny how people are? We don't have time or want to be bothereed with our neighbors when life is normal but when there's trouble we're a family. It's like that in our small town too. 30 years ago everyone who lived here had grown up here and you knew everyone. Now we are so much a bedroom community for Sioux Falls and Sioux City that there are a lot of people we never get to know. Their home are here and they sleep here but never become a part of the community. Sure is different.
I'm done rambling now....

Hi again :)
Zora - glad everything is OK with you. Watching it on the news last night was very eerie.
Barb - Hey, I remember those days before AC, but as a kid it didn't seem to bother me so much. We also only had 1 car and had to walk everywhere. Our swimming pool was 2 miles away up a huge hill and we walked there every day in the summer. It would kill my own kids now to have to do that!!
Bubu - I hope your mom's doing ok :) Yes, I borrowed the BFL book from my sister. She had the book but never tried it. I also bought the Success Journal which I LOVE. It has pages for every day in the challenge that you keep track of what you eat, your workout, your intensity, and has a message from Bill and a success story to read. You don't really need the journal, all of that is on the web. It would probably be a good idea to read the book though, but there is a lot of info here at this site too. I don't really follow the eating plan, but I do eat 6 times a day. It is very tough and intense and I really love it so far. After reading some success stories and saw some transformations I knew it was something I wanted to do. You love lifting, I bet you'd like this program.
My younger son's 13th Bday is coming up. He is having friends over to spend the night on Saturday. Luckily they can have the whole downstairs and I can shut the door LOL. I will be ordering pizza for them, and will make my own LC one. But I'll stay away from the ice cream cake. The last time I had something like that on my oldest son's Bday I was sick for hours!
Have a great weekend! It's my last one before I have to go back to work - boo-hoo!! (I know you all feel for me LOL)

Hi Zora.....
Great to see you made it .
It is true .....we all come together in times of need.....and how wonderful it really is to experience those times....Kinda like when people say, don't u hate the winters in SD....well I say...if it were not for the bad I wouldn't appreciate the good.
And, besides..what good does it complaining...anit nobody listening lol
I remember lots of times when daily conveniences were not available..and yes a person gets used to just about anything, given time and a miindset such as calling it all an ADVENTURE...what an inspirational way to deal with lifes shortcomings. LOVE IT>
Mary,
I will check for the book tomorrow....taking daughter to SF shopping...lol she gets so many comments from school mates, teasing her for having been at the Oklahoma Mall, the malls in Germany and Wyoming ...but not yet in Sioux Falls.....reason...hubby does not like SF and I don't drive there either.
Am just wondering what the book has that I don't know yet....lol....I do have the Ultra workout to go back on or design my own pyramid to do.
This morning was a tuffy though....didn't get to bed til midnight..then up at 4 am and I was dragging big time. Only worked 3 hrs and took a 2 hr nap......
Well hubby is cooking burgers....so gonna get the greens ready.

Hi everyone!
Thanks for the well wishes. They are much appreciated!
I am home now! YAY! I miss NY and everyone there, but it's good to be home. I gained 4 1/2 lbs on vacation, but I'm back on track starting today. I would like to be 199 lbs by Dec. 31, so no more cheating for me! Barb, where can I find the countdown to 199 thread? I'd like to check it out!
Well, I hope everyone has a groovy low carb day and talk to you soon!
Take care.

Hi  I'm here! Just trying to stay cool. It was 109 here yesterday - yikes!! A little cooler today, but more humid. I'm dreading having to sweat in my classroom tomorrow.
Everything else is going fine here. My BFL workouts are going well. I have been doing them in the morning and loving the energy I am getting. I can honestly say I have never worked out to intensely ever before in my life!! Today is my day off and it feels kind of weird not to be exercising, but I cleaned my house and sweated from that LOL.
I was just reading about the Zcarb (carborite?) bar and am going to send my kids in search of it here. The article I read said they had them at 7-11 stores. We don't have a 7-11 but we have a store that use to be a 7-11. Have any of you tried this bar yet? They are chocolate candy bars.
I had the day off on Friday and baked all day. I made 24 lc zucchini muffins and 8 mini-loaves called shannycakes (a BFL recipe) with 4 different flavors to have for my breakfast after I lift weights. I made enough for a month of breakfasts :)
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the weekend!

Hi, everyone! Have been very busy this week and forced myself to stay away from here. I get on and before I know it 2 or 3 hrs are gone!
Zora, glad you made it home safely. The Countdown to 199 thread is in the Countdowns and Challenges Forum. They are a great group and have really helped me keep motivated when I've gotten discouraged.
Mary, I'm pretty sick of the heat, too, but you've had it a little worse than we have. We had 2 nice days last week that gave a little relief. It's supposed to cool off later this week. Looks like a nice Labor Day weekend. I think DS and family are coming then. Have to call them and check so I can get their bed made up. Anxious to see GD again.
Bubu, sorry you're having PC problems. Hope you get things fixed soon. Being off this board is like going through withdrawal. I know what you mean about driving in Sioux Falls. I have done it so long and so often it doesn't bother me too much. I would rather drive in Kansas City than Sioux Falls. SF drivers don't know how to drive and the Iowa cars are really bad!!! They run yellow lights and cut you off every chance they get. You really have to drive defensively. KC drivers know how to drive and are polite.
My weight has been holding at 197. At least I stopped bouncing up and down, but don't seem to be able to move down. It would probably help if I went back to strictly induction foods, but it would be hard now. I would really miss my nuts, berries, and cottage cheese.
My daughter is doing so well and looking so thin. We started at the same weight and she is down to 190. She doesn't exercise but is a lot more active than I am. I downloaded some info from the BFL site, but haven't had time to really read it yet. Maybe when things settle down a little.

Hi all! Happy Labor Day!
I hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday weekend! I didn't do too much. Got some things done around the apartment and I joined the YMCA today. My girlfriend and I went and worked out on the nautilus machines and I am so sore! But it's a good sore. I think I am going to try and go to the water aerobics class tomorrow night if I get out of work in time. I get done at 5:30 and they start at 6 - will be close!
Barb - I found the Countdown to 199 thread, but seems like there isn't a whole lot of posting going on over there. I will be so glad to be in the 100s. I haven't seen them since the year my son was born in 1988!
Mary - Sounds like you are doing great with your workouts! I have heard of BFL, but don't know too much about it. I should read up on it.
Has it cooled down any?
Bubu - Hope your PC is fixed soon!!
Take care all and hope to see some posts from everyone soon!!

Hi everyone :wiggle:
It seems like forever since I posted anything here! I hope everyone is doing well :)
I am in Week 5 of my BFL Challenge and it is going well with a minor glitch thrown in a week ago. I fell down 3 steps from my house to the garage. I kind of slipped went over the wooden railing, breaking it, and landing on the floor. Thankfully I didn't get hurt badly, but my legs were sore and bruised and my knees hurt a lot for a week. I am such a clutz!!! I missed 2 workouts but made them up later so no harm done. My body seems to be back to how I was before the fall, and getting stronger every day :)
School is going well, but it is still pretty hot here. With no AC by the afternoon we are all sweating - uugg!! But it's good to be back to the routine.
Take care!!

Wow Mary. I am glad you are ok!! Whew!!
Falls can be nasty and I'm glad you are all better!
I took one once about 8 years ago and I sprained my ankle so bad I was in physical therapy for 3 months! I bruised all the way to my knee!!
Things are going ok here. Work is better, my son is great, and the weather has been nice. I'm trying to get ready for a garage sale. I have so many boxes to go through in the garage. Hopefully I can have it weekend after next.
Take care all and we'll see ya soon.

I'm in Dickinson. Not much for Low Carb here but it's getting better. The Atkins products are around but soooo expensive. My fiance and I were shopping last night and he said," Why does it have to cost so much to eat healthy, that's why people are over wieght they can't afford to stay thin." I started Low Carbing myself about 5 months ago but started Atkins about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Along the way I have found that I sometimes just want to quit because I can't afford all this, we are saving for a house and our wedding. I have had to reach into the savings to get groceries at times. Just ranting a little, ahh that felt good.

I've been out by Dickinson once. I dated a guy out that way a few years ago. It is a bit expensive to follow Atkins, but we're worth it!! I just want to get healthier and this is working for me.
When are you getting married? How exciting!

Hi all ......welcome Adukart
Yeah things are pretty slow....but oh so busy otherwise....Sorry I have kinda poohed out here....First mega pc probs and now just so busy with all kinds of things.
Most of all school, had homecoming this last week.....and son made king, which was pretty exciting of course....ended all this with a winning game last night.
then off to volleyball tournament today. one every weekend and games during the week. Daughter is in c-team and JV plus they have to be at the varsity games as well.
we have not been logging our food as well but since we don't eat differently at all we seem to be safe but cutting it close, as I saw tonight. I logged for the first in a long time...so will try to stay a little lower this week.
we are also stalling somewhat but not discouraged and am still working out in the am.....
Isn't this a nice summer we are having...gosh I can't believe the temps this week.......to think its October.
Well great visiting......I'll try to get back to a normal rythm.......I will I will....

I wil be getting married on July 23rd, 2005. It's a while away but I worry about money and saving and want it to be great. I checked out Albertson's the other day and they have a lot more low card stuff than anywhere else even Walmart, I was glad to see some place changing. Thanks for all the welcomes.

Welcome back Bu, long time no see!
Adu, I know what you mean. I worry about money and saving too. Seems lately I am not being very good about saving. Ugh. I am not going to worry about it until after Christmas. It just stresses me out, and when I'm stressed, I eat!

I lived on Ellsworth AFB for eight years. I love, love, love South Dakota. I get more homesick for that area than for my own home town in Pa. If there was a Naval base there I'd let my husband do shore duty there in a heartbeat. :agree:
