I have been doing the Atkins induction for two weeks. I am 25, active and like the diet because I have lost weight quickly. However, I have been experiencing mild but constant chest pain for the last five days. Anyone know why this could be?

Anytime you have chest pains, you should have it checked out by a doctor immediately.
That being said, a lot of folks experience some minor problems and/or discomforts after a few weeks on LC. SOme fo the usual culprits are:
- Food Intolerance: when most people switch to low carb, they tend to either eat new foods or larger quantities of foods their bodies aren't used to or sensitive too. In particular, many people dramatically increase their intake of dairy food (especially cheese) or Soy. You can cut back, take lactaid, or (and you might want to do this anyway) take a broad spectrum pro-biotic spplement.
- Water: drink your water (and spread it evenly throughtout the day) esepcially at the beginning of LC, its easy to get dehydrated...proper hydration can help minimize the effect of food intolerances, helps balance intestinal flora and put less strain on your cardiovascular system.
Again, seeing a doctor is the first thing to do...

As a critical care nurse, I can only repeat the excellent advice given above:
Anytime you have chest pains, you should have it checked out by a doctor immediately.

I've been on the diet for about 3 weeks and I started having chest pain too. It has gradually gotten worse so I went to the doctor. He explained that I have 'arthritis' in my rib cage - I'm only 31. I'm not sure if it is at all related to the diet, but it is somewhat coincidental that my pain started with the diet.
I'm now taking antiflammatory medication that seems to be helping.

did he also check you for a hiatal (sp) hernia? I know someone who was also diagnosed with arthritis in his rib cage.. experienced chest pains so bad he would go to the hospital.. they finally found out he has one of these that flares up and possibly puts pressure on his heart (he has bruises on the bottom of his heart)
I got a few chest pains from SF chocolate.. but it was indigestion..
as always.. get checked out by your doctor... dont ignore it and dont take medical advice about this from other people (other than a doctor)
(although everyone is deeply appreciated by me, im sure by you as well)
