Hi Brandywine,

I would not be concerned about your homocysteine blood level if you are on the low-carb diet and also taking a good vitamin program as Dr. Atkins suggests. This should include a multi-vitamin, 50 mg B complex, B12, vitamin E, Carlson's lemon flavored cod liver oil for omega-3 fatty acids and borage oil for GLA fatty acid.

Having said that, Dr. Atkins' book, Age-Defying Diet Revolution, on page 34 of the hardback edition discusses homocysteine in detail and suggests the following daily supplements in addition to the other regular vitamins:

100 mg B6
2,000 mcg B12
10 mg Folic Acid

Be aware the normal daily recommendation for folic acid is only 0.8 mg. This is because extra folic acid masked a deficiency of vitamin B12.

I suggest you read the book before taking advice online.

Thanks.. I will have to get the book to read.
I do take a daily multivitamin.. plus. I take Citracal with magnesium. I just bought some B complex vitamins to take also , along with some Vitamin E..
I should be taking that anyways with having Fibro, and MPS.
Thank you for your time and answering me.. I truly appreciate it ..
