Hi
I recently badly injured my knee. I am house-ridden since I can't drive or really walk and I just had surgery. This happened 3 weeks ago from today (June 3rd)
So I have been unable to eat very much. I've been depressed from being inside all day and very naseous from the pain killers and especially after the surgery from the anesthesia. I have been averaging about 900 calories/day, trying to stay w/in low carb. I have been doing no exercise, except recently I've started taking walks (or hobbles b/c I'm on crutches) I've been getting my appetite back, but I'm afraid if I start to eat normally again, that I'll gain weight so fast b/c I've screwed up my metabolism from eating so little for 3 wks.
Should I bring myself back up slowly? Am I going to gain weight really fast? How should I go back to normal eating?
Thanks!
Tori

You probably didn't do that much damage to your metabolism in that short time, esp since you weren't movign that much. The only thing I would be worried about is not giving your body enough nutrician to heal, but your obviously doing better so that's not a problem.

I'd say start slow, but go ahead and eat when your hungry. Your body needs the energy to recouperate. Make sure to get adiquet protien to help rebuild any muscle damage done and take it slow. You need to concentrate on healing right now, not weight. Don't take it as a reason to gorge and make yourself miserable though :)
