HI, I've been on Atkins for 7 weeks now and am wondering if my Asthma medication is slowing my weight loss?
I've had a look on the site and there are 1 or 2 very old references to it , but am wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
I take 2000 mcg of Flixotide
2000 mcg Bricanyl
48 mcg eformoterol
per day
Other than that I feel great!!!!
Would love to hear from any other Asthmatics who may, or may not be struggling.

My asthma improved after starting Atkins. I went from using my inhaler daily to only needing it about once a month. I think the exercise I started doing helped a lot too.

Hi Mcglynk1,
Yes, inhaled steroids such as Flixotide can definitely slow weight loss. Oral steroids more so.
I am also on Flixotide, plus some other "slowing" meds, and have found that yes, my weight loss has been slow.
But, as I keep reminding myself, I AM losing weight, and if I were not low carbing, I'd have gained probably more by now than I have lost!
I have to say there has been no change in my asthma, but I have seen many folk such as Atiaran who say their asthma has improved on this WOE.

Thanks Rosebud (nice to see you too!)
I know u r right and I have now lost nearly 2 stones in 7 weeks
which is great.
I also have nasal polyps and have had no symptoms of those since I started, no headaches etc
I shouldn't complain!!
