Seems like a lot of people have hormone/TOM issues in the beginning of low-carbing. I haven't had any spotting, but my last period was two weeks late. I swear I had nearly a month of PMS!
Apparently, a lot of estrogen and other hormones are stored in our fat cells, and when we shed this fat, the hormone influx can play havoc.
I'm told it levels out. We'll see....

I started low carbing on Friday, the day I was expecting my TOM to start. It didn't and I've been panicking ever since. I'm so glad to here that other women have experienced this problem. I'm very regular so I was very alarmed when my friend did not arrive on schedule. I'll stop worrying now!

I also had spotting. I am on ortho-cept, and I was like clockwork for many years. 2 weeks into LC and I started to spot. This continued for about 2 weeks, and it was followed by my regular TOM for a whole week. I am at the beginning of a new pill pack, and I think everything has evened out.
I called the doctor to make sure everything was fine. She said not to worry. She thought everything would go back to normal on next cycle. If not, she wanted me to come in.
Hope everything rights itself for you too. Good luck!

Hi I've been Atkins for about 13 days, and I started early, two dasy ago, I wasn't to start till next week. So, I think its cause our bodies are trying to adjust to the change we are going through. So, it's probally normal, but I would call the doctor, cause I worry about everything. Good luck. LAcey

I had my first Tom on 2nd week of induction, my second was due Saturday. I have been pms ing and crampy for about a week before it was due , until now. I am glad I found this post because I was going to have to start a new thread and ask if this was normal with the second tom. But this must be your third or fourth tom since starting this woe.I just wonder when will it get back to normal. I see posts where they say it's normal at the beginning of this woe ,but they didn't say how long they would be whacky. I am also hoping that this is what is causing me to stall since 3rd week and I get a big whoosh . Well, I did go down one lb yesterday. Just have to see if it stays off.
Thanks, Cindy

My TOM came a week too early, and I started getting the PMS moods that I never get - and the moods continued after the period, too. It's the hormones being let go from the fat cells.
