I just started the Induction period today. So far, so good. Not much room to mess up in just three hours! My question: maybe this has been asked before, but not by me. I enjoy a glass of red wine in the evenings and know that this isn't possible during induction. What about a cocktail of vodka and soda? Recommended or not during induction? I know there are no carbs in this combination, but will it interfere in my weight loss? Thanks!

Hi there Jgoddess, welcome!
No, alcohol of any sort is not permitted during Induction. I think to give yourself the best possible start, you are wisest to follow Induction as written.
Alcohol will certainly slow down your weight loss. The body will use the calories from alcohol in preference to those from food, so when you are burning alcohol for fuel, you are not burning fat.
And FYI, if or when you do add alcohol in OWL, you'll find you'll be affected by a lot less alcohol than previously. ;)
Happy low carbing!

Thanks for the welcome Rosebud!
I figured that's what the answer would be. I've never heard of any diet that said "Drink all you want!" So, I'll just be a tee-totaler for a while. This is only my second day of Induction and I'm already down a pound and a half. (Probably could be water, I spent a LOT of time in the bathroom yesterday!) But I'm optimistic and ready to move forward.
Thanks for your response.

Hi jgoddess, I'm just over 3 weeks and right towards the end of induction I went to a dinner party and had two glasses of wine during the evening....take it easy on the wine when you get off induction because I was really sick afterwards. My body just doesn't seem to like it very much anymore. I don't think I would have over a half glass of anything alcoholic anymore and I used to be able to drink several drinks easily.
Good luck with induction!
