Hi

Has anyone been using Glucowatch to monitor the BG?

Hi there,

Such a wonderful idea, but I'm sorry to report, the thing is totally unreliable. First of all, your blood sugars need to be absolutely stable for the two hours that it is calibrating. Any type 1's that can say this is the case for them? After that, readings are erratic. Insurance paid for it, which is good, because after a few weeks of false lows and highs, or it simply not working because I happened to go into a hot car, etc. I dont use it.
I'm really resentful that the company is allowed to make such false claims. Though even they admit that only 60 percent of the readings are accurate. That's just not good enough for me.

Hope this helps.

PS It also leaves blisters on your arm, and feels like a mild electrical shock while it is taking a reading.
