I read something in the "EAT, CHEAT Summersize" book that I wanted to share... *don't do that WOE.. do Atkins but it's of interest to us all*

" When you drink caffeine, you increase your adrenaline. Oh, how we love that caffeine rush in the morning, at lunchtime, or during that afternoon dip. But increased adrenaline blocks estrogen receptors and increases insulin levels. Since insulin is the fat-storing hormone, we don't want to drink caffeine with a meal becasue the insulin released could send the whole meal to the fat Reserves. Also, caffeine initially increases serotonin, which is called the "feel-good hormone," but then makes it lower over time. Low serotonin levels can trigger us to crave "comfort foods." Comfort foods very from person to person, but usually they are high in carbohydrates (mashed potatoes, macaroni and chesse, cookies, cake, etc.) These comfort foods cause spikes in your insulin, and by now we all know the ill effects of raised insulin levels. Plus, caffeine raises adrenaline, and adrenaline breaks down lean body tissue. Lean body tissue is proportional to your metabolism. The less lean body mass, the lower your metabolism, which leaves you open to weight gain. It's hard to kick the habbit at first, but I tell you, decaffeinated coffee is the way to go."

* copied word for word from the book*

I talked to my dr.. about this ... and he said yes... it was all true... So I have given up my Caffeine for decaf... and trying to even decrease how much of that I drink...

Feel free to give feed back... or comment...

Just wanted to share...
