I'm on Propanalol - not for blood pressure but as a migraine inhibitor.
I work out three - four times a week, control my food intake (and measure it on weightlossresources.com site -
but I've gained nine pounds in as many weeks - 3lb in the last 7 days!

has anyone else had trouble with propanalol? or do i have to look elsewhere for the problem?

I've read that the beta-blockers are pretty similar to thiazide diuretics in terms of increasing insulin resistance, which means they would also stimulate more insulin to be secreted, and thereby tend to worsen the hyperinsulinemia problem underlying metabolic obesity.

I gained 22 pounds in 4 months taking 40mgs per day of propranolol. I recently switched to Atenolol and gained 13 pounds in 4 weeks. My doctor says betablockers don't cause weight gain, but my body says they do.
