I have a question. I thought that eggs contained a trace amount of carbohydrate, yet the FitDay program allots 1 gram per egg, or close to that. Is it true? Am in denial???

Thanks for your help

100g of egg contains 1.15g of carbohydrate. I just weighed a medium egg. It was 60g so it contains about 0.6g of carbs.

Fitday says that a cup of eggs - about 5 eggs has 3g of carbs.

So eggs are just over half a gram each. What more do you want?

I eat between 4 - 6 eggs a day - no problems. I lose fastest when eating eggs. I call them chicken fruit!

I've always been under the impression that an egg has slightly less than 1g of carbs... I don't eat very many so I don't count them in my total (shh! don't tell!).

Do you think this is okay..? I eat 1 -2 a day, and I'm usually a little bit under my 20g daily total anyway. I beef them up a bit by adding a few whites... In an omelet you hardly notice th difference. And the whites have no carbs at all, just pure protein.

What do you do with the yolks? Throw them away? Why not use the whole egg? It's the yolk which is full of goodness.

As I said 2 eggs is one carb and you should count it. I can lose weight on 5 or 6 eggs a day plus lots more stuff.

I checked the carb thig in fitday. A cup of yolks has 4.33g and a cup of whites has 3g - so you're not escaping the carbs when you just eat the whites.

Fitday shows 1 gram of carb per egg because Fitday rounds up to the nearest whole number. Most eggs are about half a gram of carb each. It would take an awful lot of eggs to hit even 20 grams of carb (35 or so), so don't be afraid to eat a few eggs. ;)

I am only into day #7 and am so tired of eggs that I could hardly swallow my scrambled at breakfast yesterday! I am also getting so confused when I read my Rules For induction (Atkins) and see that I can eat as much protein as I wish but am now hearing that the things I haven't been counting (eggs) do actually add-up! I eat eggs at about every meal and grab one for a snack too! Do I really need to count eggs, bacon, sausage, etc... each time I eat it? Also- any idea is smoked sausage (i.e. Hillshire Farms, etc...) is okay to gobble?

The first time I was on ATKINS (WOE) I ate eggs and cheese and meat galore...according to the Induction from the Yellow-covered AtkinsDietRevolution book - I lost 40 lbs in 3.5 months and kept it off for 1 YEAR! I slipped sorry to say but I am back on track...this time I reread the Atkins Diet REVISED and I do not find I am loosing as much if any with counting eggs - cheese adding veggies etc etc I think I am going back to eggs and meat for a good 2 weeks then add some more as I progress - Hope it works 2nd time around!
I want to be a LOOOOOSER!

murlist, some people find that when they slip off of low carbing & try it again, their bodies are a bit resistant to it. Hang in there & stick with it, it will work again! It might take a little longer, but I promise you that the revised way is healthier for you.
