Just have to say these are really thick and tasty, not high in fat so add a splash of cream to them, makes them creamier too. if your craving chocholate milk like I am, this will do the trick, and its full of protein.
Sez 4 grams of carbs, minus 2 for fibre, 2 net carns, very worth it , cheapest at walmart, shoppers drug mart is $4 more...
great when your in a pinch and ghave no food to eat, put in freezer for 1 hour fist, better freezing cold.
I am hooked now, try to have one every few days, not every day,. best on weekends when I forget to eat as too busy with house stuff/gardening.

I buy the EAS Advant Edge milk shakes I buy them in Kroger grocery store in the health food section. I have had vanilla and chocolate. I really like them, I take them to work .When I get hungry , it really takes the Edge off . I think my shakes say 2 grams of carbs and there are two grams of fiber ,so I count it as zero . I have had 8 all together since I started induction 12 days ago.

How do they compare to the Atkins shakes . My only experience with the EAS was with a coworker that was having one for lunch and I noticed that it had a really strong, unpleasant odor. She was having the chocolate one.

I drink them all the time. I think they are great. Mine say 2 total carbs, with 2 grams of fiber.....zero carbs?! I actually found a large 12 pack of them at BJ's wholesale for $13. Pretty good price compared to 4 for $9.99 of the Atkins drink.

I also like them. I think it's a good idea to drink them freezing cold, too. They are rich tasting, but good.

I love these shakes and find them better than Atkins' and cheaper. The Chocolate Fudge and French Vanilla are my favorites!

Are they better than the EAS bars? I tried several different EAS bars when I first started Atkins and couldn't even swallow the first bite. Tasted like I had bitten into a vitamin or something. NONE of my children would eat them either...lol...and that's saying something because one of them will eat anything!
I like the Atkins shakes, but after experiencing the EAS bars, I'm reluctant to try EAS shakes.

Everyone's tastes must be different, because I didn't like the EAS vanilla I tried at all. It wasn't thick, creamy, or good. I found it tasted like watered down skim milk. I much prefer the Atkins Brand personally. I wish I did like the EAS as they're cheaper & never seem to be out of stock. I did find they worked well for making low carb pudding though. I think they pre subtract the 2g fiber, so it really contains 2g net carbs at least that's what it said under the ingredients.
God Bless,

Count me in for the EAS shakes, they are creamier and much more tasty. I did not like the Atkins shakes.

Right STALLQUEEN. I get the Eas low carb shake, 2 carbs a shake and 2 fiber making it 0 carbs. I have not tried putting them in the freezer for 1 hour first but just might do that this weekend.

Just so you know the EAS are not carb free, it says right on the boxes under the ingredients list: "Dietary fiber is included in the total calorie count but is NOT included as carbohydrate." They've already subtracted the fiber for you in the total carb count, so 2g is the net carbs not zero. Just wanted you to know so you could accurately count your carbs, & not have them sneak up on you.

I thought the vanilla tasted like how cake batter smells. Yummy.... I am all out and I want one ...NOW . I will have to read the container next time. I thought I read it pretty good, but I guess not... I paid like $6.99 for a 4 pack at the grocery store....So a 12 pack for 13.00 is pretty good. Too bad none of those stores here.., Cindy

I just bought 2 kinds yesterday. The chocolate fudge was 2 g, but that was with fiber not counted. The dark chocolate was 5 g, with fiber included, so 3 ECC. Must be old vrs new labling.
I tried a taste and was ehh, then I putin some cream. Yuuuummmmmmy, and it left me full for quite a few hours. It was about $5 cheaper then the readymade Aktins shakes.

I'll chime in with a thumb's up for the EAS carb control shakes, too.
But, be careful to get the ones marked CARB CONTROL, they have other shakes that look almost identical that are not marked CARB CONTROL, and they have more carbs.
I drink just a couple a week, usually as an emergency meal. They are only 110 calories, so I add cheese or something along with them. I get them at Safeway, they were on sale yesterday, a four pack was 5.99. They are a little thin, like skim milk kind of, but they aren't chalky or grainy, which is good!

Someone had said they taste better extreamly cold, close to freezing. Well idiot me didn't erad the big warning on package "DO NOT FREEZE" and stuck them in freezer. They are thawing in the fridge still. Hope they still taste as good.

I had to drink one warm today. I bought a whole bunch (buy one get one free) and forgot to put some more in the fridge. It didn't taste too bad , though. Cindy

Also, mine don't say anywhere that the fiber has been taken out of the carbs( I looked today). So, maybe I have the old packaging or new ones. I don't know, but I don't count any carbs on mine.. Mine say 2 carbs and 2 fiber .

Thanks so much for posting about the eas shakes.. I bought some last night but have been reluctant to try one. I figured I could choke one down if I dont have time to eat lunch or breakfast one morning.
It sounds like they dont have the nasty grainy taste I am afraid of. I plan to try one tomorrow.
I got the one with the higher carbs.. I didnt see splenda as the sweetner on the ones that show 2 carbs on the package.. I got the rich dark chocolate hoping that the slighly higher carb count would yeild a better tasting beverage :D
I will tell you how it goes tomorrow

I've had both. I prefer the Atkins. Of course, it's the more expensive one.

The dark chocolate has the ame cabs. The strawberry cream and chocolate fudge just don't include the fiber in on it's carb count. If they still taste a little off to you, try mixing in a tablespoon of cream with the dark chocolate. Yummy. Also good with coffee.

Hi guys! Happy Father's Day!
I went to take a look at those EAS low carb drinks and they have dextrose and maltodextrin in them.
Peace

maltodextrin
I'm not sure what that is. I se the dextrose on there, but it is very close to the bottom of the list of ingredients. Those 2 extra carbs that aren't from fiber has to come from somewhere I supose :)

I got the atkins shake that you mix youreself. Hated it.
wont buy that again.
Then someone told me that the carb one u are talking about is just as bad.
is it the one that u mix with water???
and at walmart?? and how many carbs is it. for 8 oz. glass. like to try to have something low on carbs or none to have on days when just a drink will do.
and how are the calaries on those. i hope better then atkins.

Go to www.eas.com go to products, pick the advantedge and you can find out what stores sell it. It comes already made ,you just put it in the fridge... I never had the Atkins shakes. I will give them a try. But what I like to do everyday is have a shake with a tablespoon of my Smuckers Natural peanut butter . Yummy.. Cindy

I get the ready made one. They are 2 ECC per shake, they have 4 total with 2 fiber. They taste better cold then warm, and I think they taste great. They are cheaper then the Atkins premade by a dollar or two. I also didin't like the Atkins power when I made a shake from it. About the only use I found for it was whipping it with 2 oz cream for a mousse. The last couple of times I tried it though, I ended up nauseous.

I have never heard of these..does EAS stand for something longer that I can identify with. I am in Alaska, and we have Fred Meyer stores and Carrs/Safeway. Are they in there????
Would love to save the money and carbs.

smidgie...
They are in WalMart, do you have a WalMart where you are? If not, next time you are in Whitehorse, better stop in! =P
I can't remember what EAS stands for, but its always marketed as just EAS. They make the Myoplex products.
Tammy
Oh this is the Myoplex brand... the ones we're talking about are just EAS.. but the package basically looks the same, the non Myoplex ones are 2 net carb.
http://www.upper49th.com/Product.asp?ID=1301
or got to www.eas.com
and choose AdvanteEdge Carb Control ready to drink... THOSE are the right ones :p

I like both the Atkins Chocolate premade shakes (hate the mix stuff) and the EAS Carb Control pre made shakes (chocolate). Because they do not have glycerine or sugar alcohols - the shakes do NOT stall me like the bars do. I have them regularly and lose well with them. The Atkins shakes are a bit more creamy and higher calorie - they are good for a real treat. The EAS has a bit less calories and makes a good between meal snack.
Both definitely need to be served very cold and well shaken. :)

Thank you YukonSun. Will stop in...lol. Yes we have Walmart in Anchorage (200 miles away). Will be looking next time I go there.
Does anyone know how bad the shipping costs are from the EAS website???

Am I buying the right EAS drink? The package says: EAS Advant Edge Carb Control Ready to Drink Shake Rich Dark Chocolate ... so far so good ... but it also says that it is 99% fat free and 5g of carbs!!! 5 grams of carbs seems awfully high for a low carb drink. The nutritional info on the back says: total fat 4g, Total carbs 5g, dietary fiber 3g. It doesn't indicate anywhere on the packaging that the fiber has been subtracted for the net carb count. Any thoughts on this?

Tue, Jun-17-03, 09:20
The Fiber has not been subtracted from what I have read on my label and from what others have said on the board.
I didn’t like the Idea of it being 99% fat free so I add at least a tbs of heavy whipping cream to mine. It adds a carb but increases the fat for appetite suppression.
It also makes it taste better. :)
I also tried one more twist on the vanilla shake. I added a teaspoon of the davincci? sugar free syrup. Made it a little sweeter. I dont think it affected the taste enough to do it again. but I have been trying that syrup in many things.
It's Good, it's Good!!

Tue, Jun-17-03, 11:21
On some of the older packaging, adn with certain falvours (the dark chocolate I think) the fiber has not been subtracted and you have to do that on your own to come up with 2 ECC. On other flavoures the fiber has already been subtracted. The note on if the fiber has been removed is extreamly small and is at the bottom of the ingredients list. I like the taste of them enough, and they are so fast and easy to grab on the run they are worth the 2-3 ECC for me :)

I pour the strawbary EAS carb control shakes over crushed ice and this helps with the "do not freeze" dilemma. QUITE good!

Anyone notice the EAS shakes (1 a day) causing stalls?
My packaging label on my Strawberry Cream Carb Control shake has a "Important Carbohydrates Information" chart and says:
Total Carbohydrates: 3g
Dietary Fiber: 1g
Sugars: 0g
Other Carbohydrates: 2g
1g Impact Carbs
I don't know what "other carbohydrates" exactly means, so I count this as 2g carbs instead of 1g just to be on the safe side. Not sure if this is causing my stall/slow wt loss but trying to investigate anything/everything here.

anything can cause a slowdown in your weight loss, but perhaps your carb intake is sneaking up on you in other ways? make sure that, if you are doing induction, you are really limiting your carbs to 20, and no more than that! and that those carbs are coming from leafy greens :) if you're careful, the shakes shouldn't cause a problem. that has been my experience.
