Ya'll may already know about this. Walgreen's has a free magazine, DIABETES & YOU, at their pharmacy counter. It appears to be published about 4 times a year. What I found interesting in this issue was the fact that they mentioned low carb in two different articles. In one article they said there were 3 ways to diet: diabetic exchange, diabetes food pyramid, (both of which appear to be high carb), and low carb. It says that carb counting has attracted a strong following in the last few years. Well, duh! Maybe that is because the other two plans don't work and people are tired of being prescribed a diet of poison by doctors and dieticians.
The other article on carbs says they raise your BG, blah, blah, blah, etc. Then says that the ADA has reversed its long-held recommendation to avoid sugar. It also recommends that you eat 60 to 75 grams of carb per meal.
What I find appalling in both these articles is that they never say to test your BG and see what you can eat, how much you can eat, etc.
Okay, I'm getting down off my horse.
They have several interesting articles and coupons for free Freestyle meter with the purchase of strips and coupon for free Ascensia elite meter with purchase of strips. Also, a comparison of all the different meters out there.
