I am just starting out on hp/lc woe and have a concern. My hubby and I have decided we would like to have another child (mine are 16 and 7). Ihave been working out regularly since Jan and am definately healthier, though still overweight, than before. I am not pregnant now but will going through the Induction phase mess with ovulation? These two weeks will the leading up to when I will most likely ovulate.
Should I be asking this somewhere else?

I am not medically qualified to tell you if it will indeed mess with your ovulation, but I do think that any kind of change of this magnitude can mess with your cycles. How many women experience a 'surprise' period a few days after starting Induction? How soon are you planning to start trying? If you are prepared to be/get pregnant now, then just do what comes naturally. You might consider getting some ovulation predictors. If you want to give it some time to 'normalize' at a low-carb WOL, then give it one or two cycles. Like when you go off the pill, they say you should get one spontaneous cycle before you try to get pregnant.
Hope this helps some. Good luck!

I was thinking along the same lines also.
I've proved to be pretty fertile after dropping off b/c in the past so I'm not to worried. I figure it will happen when it wants to. I think the fact that I've been working out for a few months on a very regular basis helps. I know that exercise can mess with your period/ovulation also.
Well, off to try the pregancy thing!
If anyone else has any ideas/wisdom I'd love to hear it.

hi there,
I'm not 100% sure of the impact on PCOS and ovulation specifically, but I do know that estrogen is stored in body fat. Whenever you're actively burning body fat, then there will be traces of estrogen released into the bloodstream as well. This might screw up your cycles, since (if I remember correctly) ovulation happens after estrogen levels drop, and progesterone levels rise.
Many members have experienced mid-cycle bleeding in the early weeks of LC, even some on the pill. Have a read through this thread .. Mid-Cycle Bleeding? (http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32556) .. there might be some helpful info. for you. There's a link to another helpful thread too ... Ladies please read (http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15285).
Good Luck :rose:

Thanks for the links to the other boards. That gave some insight. Since I'm trying to get pregnant perhaps extra periods are a good thing. Maybe.... Once I am I will jump to the maintenance plan.
Waiting for DH to finish the book to be 100% Atkins.
