I have been on the induction diet for a while but whenever I use the Ketosis stix I never seem to get beyond the second shade of pink which is reads as small (15%). Will I lose weight this way if it stays at this mark? I am not sure what I am doing wrong but this is very frustrating.

Here is a what I have been eating:

AM - DECAF coffee with half and half - 8oz - 1 splenda packet

1 Egg omelet made with Pam spray

Lunch - salad or Grilled chicken breast with 2 tsp BBQ sauce

Dinner - 2 hot dogs, or grilled chicken with 1 tsp relish or 1/2 Ketchup

After dinner - 1 cup of decaf tea with 4 tsp milk and 2 splenda packets

The color on the sticks is not as important as the fact that they change at all. Don't worry about them a lot.

Not sure of your plan but none of the major plans restrict the calories as low as your menu shows. And Atkins wants the highest % of calories to come from fat. Look over the link that compares different plans and pick one that suits your life.
Then follow the guidelines of a plan with proven results. You will last longer and feel better. Good luck

Ketosis is like a pregnancy test, if it turns color, you are in ketosis. Darker usually means a person is dehydrated.

Please click on the which low carb plan is right for me link to the right of the page.

You said you did induction, your food list isn't reflecting it.

AM - DECAF coffee with half and half (use heavy cream, limited to 2-3 tablespoons a day)- 8oz - 1 splenda packet

1 Egg omelet (you need more than 1 egg for breakfast you can have 2-3 with other things as well) made with Pam spray (use real butter, it's allowed, not that Pam isn't, but more fat ups your calories, this is not a low calorie diet.)

Lunch - salad or Grilled chicken breast (You can have salad and chicken, salad can be 2-3 cups of mixed greens a day) with 2 tsp BBQ sauce (not allowed, but you can real dressing that has 2 carbs or less per tablespoon, you can also have real mayo with 0 carb count...it may have sugar as an ingrediant but if it's low on the list don't worry about it, it's just a trace)

Dinner - 2 hot dogs, or grilled chicken (you can have more veggies with dinner too, 1 cup from induction list) with 1 tsp relish (not sweet relish, you can dill though) or 1/2 Ketchup (no ketchup, though I'm a ketchup addict myself)

After dinner - 1 cup of decaf tea with 4 tsp milk (no milk, use some of your allotted cream allowance if you wish) and 2 splenda packets (you are keeping your splenda to 3 packs a day, that's good.)

Have you tried www.fitday.com it's a free site and you can put in what you are eating and see the carb and calorie counts and lots of other information too like your percentages. You want your fat to be about 65-75 %, protein around 20-25% and about 5% carbs from green vegetables as much as possible.

In general you need to be eating more. Atkins suggests women can safely consume up to 1800 calories a day and still lose.

By eating too few calories you can make your body think there is a famine and it will try to hold on to as much fat as it can.

Hope some of this is helpful to you,

Beth
